Chapter 1765: Section 1766: A Fluke Hits the Mark
Little Six’s house is a secluded estate. Upon entering, one can see a fountain statue and a charming little garden.
In the garden, gardeners are trimming the flowers and plants, while servants are sweeping away fallen leaves. Naturally, all these servants are mortals, as Little Six mentioned—they were hired back when her parents were still around.
Following Little Six upstairs, they eventually stopped at a room at the end of the hallway.
Little Six knocked on the door. It was quickly opened by an elderly woman wearing a simple long dress. Upon seeing Little Six, she respectfully bowed her head and called her, "Miss."
This kind-faced elderly woman was one of Little Six’s family servants, now tasked with caring for Helen.
"How is Helen doing now?" Little Six asked.
"Miss Helen woke up for a little while this morning but didn’t say a word. She’s sleeping again now," the old woman replied with a trace of pity in her gaze. Helen’s temperament was unlike other Transcendents—she was not arrogant, but calm and exceedingly polite. The elderly woman was very fond of her.
"Ah," Little Six sighed. "You can leave now; we’ll take care of things here."
As Little Six and the elderly woman spoke, Angel was already sensing the situation inside the room. As the servant had said, Helen was currently resting in bed.
After the door was pushed open, Angel and Little Six stepped inside.
The room was small and modestly furnished, but it had excellent lighting; the evening glow filtered through the windows. At this hour, the warmth of twilight bathed the room, spreading a natural layer of crimson light over Helen, who lay on the bed.
Angel approached the bedside, gazing at the sleeping Helen.
It had been several years since they last met. Angel only knew that Helen had followed Si Man to Shaloo Ridge after their previous encounter, but heard nothing further after that.
Now, seeing her again brought Angel a rush of emotions tied to their reunion.
Helen’s appearance hadn’t changed much. The crimson glow slightly masked her pale complexion, but her frailty and exhaustion could hardly be masked.
Angel reached out with spiritual power to assess Helen’s precise condition.
After a few minutes, Angel withdrew his spiritual power.
Seeing this, Little Six hurriedly asked, "Master, is Helen alright?"
Angel replied, "Her physical condition is quite poor, but your care has been adequate. At least from the perspective of her physical body, she’s gradually recovering. However, she still needs extended rest and recovery."
Little Six had just breathed a sigh of relief when Angel added a caution.
"However, her worst injury isn’t physical—it’s her spiritual power that’s been damaged."
Little Six was aware of this, as Helen had mentioned upon waking that she was unable to summon any spiritual power, and her awareness of her Mind Space had become faint and indistinct.
This clearly indicated that Helen’s spiritual power had indeed been wounded.
Little Six had read many books while organizing materials at the White Dove Library. She’d come across a text describing spiritual power injuries and their symptoms. Over ninety percent of cases resulted in the inability to summon spiritual power, but rarely involved a complete loss of awareness of the Mind Space.
Such a severe symptom usually meant the injury was catastrophic and nearly irreparable.
Helen’s situation likely fit this category of extreme spiritual power damage. With no alternatives left, Little Six grasped at whatever opportunities she could and sought help from Angel.
"Master, can Helen’s spiritual power injury still be healed?" Little Six hesitated to ask.
"Why ask such a thing?" Angel frowned at her inquiry. Her tone made it sound as though Helen was afflicted with a terminal illness, rather than a spiritual setback.
Little Six explained the information she had gleaned to Angel. After hearing her perspective, Angel finally understood the circumstances.
Chuckling lightly, he said, "The materials you read aren’t wrong, but you need to consider the actual situation. If Helen had sustained the kind of spiritual power injury you’re describing, she wouldn’t just be unconscious now—she wouldn’t even be alive."
Little Six paused, stunned. "Master, are you saying Helen’s injury isn’t as serious? But then, why has her perception of the Mind Space grown blurry?"
Angel replied, "Her injuries are indeed severe, but not to the extent you believe. As for the blurriness in her Mind Space perception, that’s normal—because she became a Talented One through external intervention."
Angel was well aware that Helen was not naturally gifted. Back on the Cloud Conch, her mental power value had been tested at 9.3.
Thus, Helen’s ability to become a Talented One had to have been assisted by external forces. Most likely, Si Man had given her Frost Night Potion, allowing her to leap past the 10-point spiritual power threshold into the realm of the Talented ones.
Due to the forced enhancement, her spiritual power fluctuation was still not fully stabilized. If she had been given a few years to cultivate, advancing to Second Level Apprentice or at least becoming a seasoned Level 1 Apprentice, her instability would’ve resolved naturally. Instead, she sustained her injury while still in the early stages of being a Level 1 Apprentice.
Suffering an injury while her spiritual power fluctuation was unstable elevated the severity of her wounds, compounded by the fact that her talents were externally induced. The artificially augmented pseudo-value was now precarious at best.
Under these circumstances, her blurred perception of her Mind Space was to be expected.
After hearing Angel’s explanation, Little Six nodded in understanding, yet her expression remained somber. "Does this mean Helen’s spiritual power value might drop below 10 points?"
If it dropped below the threshold, Helen would effectively fall back to being a mortal. Furthermore, Frost Night Potion could only be used once; she would never be able to rely on it again.
"It’s possible."
Little Six grew anxious. "Then is there any way to prevent that?"
Angel turned his gaze back to Helen, who was lying on the bed, and spoke calmly, "Yes."
Since Helen’s spiritual power was merely unstable, and the value hadn’t truly dropped yet, there were still ways to salvage the situation.
There were two possible solutions: either give Helen a specially prepared spiritual power restoration potion or help her stabilize her spiritual power through manual intervention.
The first option was exceedingly costly—each specially formulated spiritual power restoration potion came at a steep price, far beyond what a Junior Apprentice could afford. The second option, though simpler in theory, was challenging in execution, as stabilizing another person’s spiritual power required one’s own spiritual power to be exceptionally strong and delicately controlled.
For apprentices, this task was near impossible. Even the most advanced apprentices could not achieve it.
However, for Official Wizards, it was remarkably easy.
Thus, Little Six seeking Angel’s help was fortuitous. Angel wouldn’t need to request a potion from anyone else—he could rely on his own abilities to stabilize Helen’s disrupted spiritual power.
