Chapter 73: The Mask Has Been Unmasked...

Acantha looked at the three gentlemen in front of her.

"Since when have you learned about Mildred being a fake one?" The duke asked her when she settled inside.

"Since Flamear pointed out that it seems like there were two Mildred in our home," Acantha said as she puts Flamear on the couch where Jarnus and Helion were sitting.

"How could this have happened?" The duke asked confusedly.

"I don’t know; all I knew was we needed to find the real Mildred; she might be there while someone was torturing her or not.

"You’re right, someone must have heard, and we didn’t know what was happening to the rea Mildred now," Helion said as he looked at her.

Acantha couldn’t help but look away as she met her eyes, and her cheeks started to red again.

Damned! Why can’t she forget what she saw yesterday?

"But, what about this one?" She lifted her eyes and saw him lifting her hand where she put the bracelet.

"What about that?" She asked as she frowned at him.

"How did you know that this one could help me?" Helion asked her, and she sighed. Jarnus hasn’t told him about the bracelet.

"It’s not me, it’s Flamear." She said as she pointed at Flamear, who was now in his original form.

Helion turned to Flamear, who was just listening to them all the time.

"That was from a long time ago; that bracelet was owned by the crown prince of the old dragon empire. It was given by Solaia to them to help them suppress their dragon blood and live as humans." Flamear explained to them as he was looking at the bracelet.

"What you were feeling was not a curse, but it’s only natural for you as you have dragon blood in you, which is the reason why you were having those attacks," Flamear sighed as he looked at Helion.

"But why do I calmed down whenever I felt attacked and when Lady Noraya was there?" Helion continued to ask as he looked at her this time.

"That’s because Abellarde seems to know more about your blood history, and they hired someone who studied about the dragon and made Lady Noraya wear the perfume they made since she was a little." Acantha said as she looked at him.

"That bastard, he must have planned everything from the beginning," she heard the duke say as he was clenching his fist.

"And how did you even know about this?" Helion faced her as he was frowning like at her.

Acantha looked at everyone as she was being questioned by Helion.

She can feel her hand sweating at his question, as he didn’t know how to answer.

"I was the one who told her." Acantha looked at Flamear as he said those words.

She saw Flamear look back at her.

"I got this." Flamear said to her inside her mind.

"Thank you," Acantha replied to him.

"But how did you know it?" This time it wasn’t Helion who asked, but Jarnus.

"I can see the past and even the future; those are one of our gifts, but we can’t and shouldn’t interfere to change it." Flamear said as he looked at Jarnus.

"Your Highness, Who is Solaia?" Jarnus asked Helion, which made the latter stiffen at what he asked.

"Why do you ask?" Helion finally said as he looked at Jarnus, who looked confused.

"Lady Acantha and Flamear already told me that she was a goddess, but why didn’t I hear about her?" Jarnus asked as he looked at her and Flamear. "And beside you called her name last night." Jarnu continued as he looked at Helion, who was not moving.

"I did what?" Helion asked as he looked around them. "I can’t remember about my dream last night." Helion responded, glancing at Jarnus with a stern expression.

"Let’s talk about first how to find Mildred," the duke said as he was looking at them.

"We should plant something on the fake, Mildred, to know where she was going or who she was talking to." Acantha said as she looked at them.

"I forgot. I was supposed to give this to you that time where we went home from the east." Helion took something, and she saw that it was the necklace Elida had given her.

Acantha took the necklace and wore it to her.

"I don’t feel any dark energy around the fake Mildred," Acantha said as she looked at them.

"Neither do I." Flamear said, which made her fall into her deep thoughts.

"Let’s just do the thing; it would be risky if we had someone watch her for us," Jarnus said as he looked at everyone.

They were about to say something when something lightened up in Jarnus pocket. He took it out, and there she saw the same thing from her father’s office; it was a small mana stone used for communication.

Jarnus went not far away from them, and he answered it.

"Jarnus! Where are you?" They heard someone say from the other. She recognized the voice owned by Ernie.

"The Empress was so worried about His Highness; is he there? Is he alright?" Acantha almost rolled her eyes at Ernie’s dramatic questions, but also she liked that she was worried about him; Helion must be good to his knight as she saw how loyal they are to him.

Acantha saw how Jarnus turned his back and nodded to Helion before he spoke. "His Highness was fine. He was already doing good, Jarnus said.

"That’s good! And hey, I have something I got from the person we put in the Abellarde’s," Ernie said, which made her raise her brows.

It seems like it was their habit to plant someone in someone’s house, just like what they did to her when they planted Ernie himself.

"He said he heard Lady Noraya shout that she didn’t kill anyone, and he also reported that it seems like she already lost it." Ernie continued to say, as he didn’t know that they were all listening to what he was saying.

Even though she hates that woman, she was still worried about what happened and why it was so sudden. Is this the price for trying to change her fate? She was just doing everything to live and survive.

--------------------------

Mildred looked around her, and she saw the plate that the traitor brought her a while ago.

She still can’t believe that they trusted him.

The door opened again, and there he was here again.

"Are you still refusing to eat it? My, my, I told you to be grateful to me; if he was the one who was here, he wouldn’t hesitate to kill you." Evander said to her as he smiled at her, which made all the hair on her hand stand up as behind those sweet faces was a liar and a dangerous man.

She knew Evander since he was a kid, or would she say since he was born. He was two years older than Lady Acantha. No one knew who was his mother, as the count only brought the baby and didn’t bothered on naming the mother, and he just said that his mother was dead.

"I won’t eat anything from the traitors," she said as she looked at her with flames in her eyes in anger.

She saw how his face changed from smiling to a deadly one. "If I say you should eat, you will eat!" Evander said as he gripped her chin and shoved the spoon that has food in her mouth.

Mildred choked when Evander kept on shoving some food in her mouth.

"You know, if only the duke wasn’t getting to involved with everything, maybe we were not in this situation," he said as he was now shoving the cup on her mouth to drink some water.

"Lady Acantha won’t forgive you for this," she uttered, her teeth clenched in anger.

She saw how Evander stiffened and stopped what he was doing.

"She will appreciate my efforts, removing all the obstacles in her path." Evander said as he looked at her and chuckled crazily.

"Lady Acantha will loathe you!" Mildred yelled, and he received a slap from Evander, which made her doze to the ground.

"Shut up!"

"Shut up!"

Evander yelled at her, and it echoes to the place where they put her.

He stormed out of the place as he threw her the cup.

She was just wishing that her lady would find out that the Mildred who was with them wasn’t her.

There was no way she was going to betray the family she already considered one, and besides, she cannot betray them; she vowed to the late duchess that she would do anything to protect them and serve them.

"I just want you to be safe, my lady." Mildred said as she whispered in the air.

______________

Acantha didn’t know, but she felt a cold breeze of air on her skin; it felt like someone was calling her name.

She looked at the outside as the three still continued to talk. She was wishing for Mildred’s safety.
