Chapter 67: The Curse or Blessing?

Acantha looked at Mildred now, who was doing her daily chores. There was nothing suspicious about what she was doing. She has been observing her for days, but there was no sign that she was doing something wrong.

"Lady Acantha," She looked at her back, and there she saw one of the maids who was holding some letters.

Letters? Again? And who sent this? Acantha looked at the letter as she accepted it. She looked at the envelope and saw that there was no seal of who it was from.

Acantha opened the letter and saw it was from Jarnus. He was saying that Helion found something suspicious about the Empress’s cup.

So, what Flamear told her the last time was true. But there was also something in his letter that caught her eye.

"His Highness is sick right now, and he needs to be in another place to be safe."That’s what caught her eye.

If she will based on the novel, things that are happening now were different from what she read; the Helion she knew now doesn’t like Noraya, who he was supposed to be clinging to as he was sick because of the curse of having the dragon’s blood.

Shit, he was not sick, but he was having an attack, and she knew that only Noraya could soothe what he was feeling.

How can she forget such important things? She knew him for months, and she forgot about this.

Acantha wrote a letter back to Jarnus and one for Helion.

She can help him if Helion goes back and is Noraya’s puppet, as she was the one who helped him with his curse; Acantha knew that was her end as Noraya hates her.

Noraya can soothe what he was feeling, but it wasn’t removing the curse. She was wearing the perfume bath that the baron instructed someone to make as they knew about the Imperial family’s curse.

He must be restraining himself to run to Noraya, as the Helion now was different; he wasn’t clinging to her at first, and not even now. What happened?

First, Helion shouldn’t have saved those people in the east, and he didn’t learn about that the Count Di Santris was using him to gain some powers.

Am I getting accommodated living here to not notice that things were not the same anymore? I tried my best to ignore the main characters, but it seems like something was really pulling me to meet or cross their path.

"Lady, Lady," Acantha was back to reality when she saw Mildred’s face in front of her. She was startled to see that she was leaning at her, but she tries to hide it.

"What was it, Mildred?" Acantha asked as she looked at her, who was now standing in front of her.

"I was telling you that the duke already came home," Mildred said as she looked at her.

Acantha studied Mildred’s move as she was looking at her face.

"Is there something on my face, My Lady?" Mildred asked as she touched her face.

Acantha shook her head as she took her eyes away from looking at her. "No, it’s just. I’m tired," she said as she stood up from sitting. She was now at the garden, and Mildred was helping the other maids awhiel ago clean the garden.

Mildred walked with her as she made her way back to the house. There she saw that the duke was waiting for her in front of the staircase.

"Father, your home again," Acantha said as she went near to her father.

"We need to discuss something," the duke said, and based on his face, it might be something serious.

The duke led her to his office as he closed the door. Acantha even saw Mildred was still outside the door, and it seems like she was going to wait for her.

Acantha put some barriers inside the room, as she just wanted to make sure that no one was going to hear what they were going to talk about.

"You knew that we still were feuding with the Empress, right?" The duke asked him, and she just nodded.

"But what does it do with the thing your going to talk to me, father?" Acantha asked as she looked at the duke, who just sighed.

"You also knew that the imperial family came from the dragon’s family and were blessed by it’s power," the duke said, and Acantha seemed to get a hint on what he was going to say to her.

Acantha nodded again, and she saw the duke seems to be worrying about something.

"The reason why you are here is because of the curse of the imperial family." The duke said as he looked at her and was looking to see whether she understood what he was saying or not.

"Can you go straight to where this conversation is going to head father?" Acantha said as she looked at Duke.

"The crown prince was currently sick, or that was what the Imperial was telling to everyone." The duke said as he sat in one of the chairs opposite from where she was sitting.

"Well, he was not actually, but he was having an attack." The Duke continued as he looked at her to see her reaction.

"He was having some attack; his body is changing, and he will get some scales like the dragon in his body, and the power of dragons is getting stronger, and it was burning him inside." The duke said as he looked worried.

"The Empress suggested that since Helion has this attack, it was better for him to be married. to Lady Noraya, who helped him back when he had this kind of attack.

"But doesn’t he have these attacks every year?" Acantha asked as this what she knows from the novel, The curse were supposed to be attacking him every year, so why was -

She stopped from what she was thinking when she felt the duke was staring at her, and there she saw that the duke was frowning while he was staring at her.

"Why does it seem like you were not even surprised when I told you about the Imperial family’s secret?" the duke said as he put his face on his hand while he was still eyeing her.

Acantha looked at the duke and stared at him blankly. "I already had a hint since the crown prince already told me on his letter that he sent using Jarnus name." She said it was nothing.

"What letter?!" Acantha was surprised when the duke raised his voice at what she said.

"The letter he sent awhile ago." Acantha said as she raised her brows at the duke’s outburst.

"Give me the letter? And since did you even start sending letters to each other? And how can it be? They were supposed to can’t communicate with anyone in here as I put some barriers around here with Flamear’s help, unless..." The duke said as he was looking at her while saying those words.

"Did you manipulate the barrier?" The duke asked her as he looked at her suspiciously.

"No," Acantha said as she denied what he was accusing her.

"There are only three people who can manipulate this barrier; it’s either me, you, or Flamear." The duke said as he walked around in front of her.

"Okay, fine, I did it," Acantha said as she looked at her father, who stopped from walking.

"Why did you do it?" The duke asked her as he sighed and put his hand at the back of his neck.

"What do you expect, father?" I don’t want to feel like I was in a cage in here," she said as she looked at him.

"You know why we have these barriers around us." The duke said as he looked at her.

Acantha looked at her father as she also sighed.

"Let’s change the topic for now." The duke said as he looked at her.

"Now, father. The crown prince mentioned that he was going to another place to be safe. Do you know where this is this place?" Acantha said as he looked at the duke, who looked at her.

"The crown prince was in the other wing of our duchy." The duke said as he sighed.
