Chapter 64: The Solaris and Abellarde’s and The....?
Acantha saw the duke, who looked furious at the moment, and asked those words to Noraya, who paled as she saw the duke’s face.
"I-I," Noraya said as she looked at Lady Dorkinya as if she were asking for some help, but the latter also paled when she saw the duke.
"I asked you, Lady Noraya, what did you say about my daughter?" The duke asked as he looked at them. When they didn’t answer, the duke turned to her, and she saw that he looked angry, but she could also sense that he was worried about her.
"And you, I told you not to get out of the duchy, and yet you are here," the duke said as he looked at her. "And you even went out with Evander," the duke said as he looked behind him and gave Evander a death glare.
Acantha looked at her father, who was still giving her some words. "I just want to eat something," she said as she looked at her.
"Isn’t the food at the duchy enough for you?" The duke asked her as he looked at her while he put his palm on his forehead.
Acantha didn’t answer her father, as she knew what she did was wrong.
"Aren’t you being rude, Duke?" Acantha snapped when she heard someone say, and there they saw the baron with his Count Di Santris, Lord Dorkinya, and someone she didn’t recognize. "Your Highness," the four of them greet Helion, who seems not to care about them.
Acantha saw how her father smirked at them. "Why is it your problem, Lord Abellarde?" The duke said as he grinned at the baron, who looked pissed at what his father said.
"You’re really still an arrogant Arthur," Count Di Santris said as he was glaring at her father, who just grinned at him.
"Why, Sandro? Still the coward, are you?" The duke said as he was looking at the count, who seemed to be pissed at what her father said.
The count was about to launch at her father when the other man stopped him from coming after the duke, who was just waiting for them to make the first move.
"You need to get it yourself. Count the duke was only taunting you," the man said as he glared at her father.
"Why, Lord Rigas? Am I not saying the truth?" His father said as he was mocking the latter, who looked like he was about to burst in anger any moment.
"You still haven’t changed, Solaris; you still that man who likes taunting those who were below you." The man said as he was still glaring at the duke.
"That’s where you’re wrong, Rigas. I don’t look at the status of who taunts; when that person is not good, then why should I treat them kindly?" The duke said as he looked at the man who was Lord Rigas.
Acantha saw that Lord Rigas looked at her, and she noticed something in his eyes when he looked at her, like he was longing for something or someone.
"So, why are you here?" Helion asked the four gentlemen who turned to him; it seems like they forgot about him being there for a moment because of an old rivalry with the duke.
"We heard that there was a commotion here, Your Highness, when we were having some lunch near here," Lord Abellarde said as he was smiling at him.
"We didn’t know that Lady Solaris was the one who caused the commotion here," Lord Dorkinya said as he looked at her with disgust on his face.
"Lady Acantha, I heard you also possess a healing power? Or is it just some rumors, as it was impossible for someone who was born without magic in the first place?" The baron said as he turned to her and looked at her mockingly, like he was telling her that the rumor he had been hearing was false.
"Why, Lord Abellarde? I’m a Klartis, after all, and a direct descendant of those who receive the blessing, so why is it impossible? And oh, haven’t you heard? Mother sealed my power; that’s why I couldn’t show or use it, not because I was born without it," Acantha said as she smirked at the Baron, who looked surprised at what she revealed to him.
"That’s true; Lady Acantha healed me awhile ago," she heard the old woman who she healed say.
"Yes, we also saw her curing them awhile ago."
"Why does the baron sound like he was trying to say that Lady Acantha only lied that she has a power?"
"That’s right; maybe the baron doesn’t want his daughter to have a competitor."
The people start whispering, and she sees how tense the baron is, and he looks mad at what he is hearing.
"The baron must be afraid that someone was helping us for nothing." Acantha looked to see who it was. It was the young man who she heard his mother died because of the baron refusing to heal those people without getting something.
"That’s not true!" The baron yelled as he looked at the others who were eyeing him.
"It seems like you already won the crowd, Lady Acantha," Count Di Santris said as he was looking at him, like he was studying her, until
"Don’t ever look at my daughter with those sinful eyes you have there, Di Santris," the duke said as he went in front to cover her from the malicious look that Count Di Santris was doing.
That bastard!
He was such a creep; how can someone like him still be alive? He was also the reason why Mariano and his daughter were away for many years; this man is a weirdo.
"Relax, Duke," the count said as he was smirking at the duke.
"I will stop doing that if I were you, Count, and if you value your head," she heard Helion say as he looked at her and as he put the sword at the count’s neck, who paled when he felt the blade.
"Your shameless count," she heard Evander say, who also stepped in front, and along with the duke, he was glaring at those people in front of them.
"Apology, Your Highness," the count said to Helion, who looked murderous at the moment and still didn’t remove his sword from the count’s neck.
"H-Helion," she heard Noraya say as she paled at what she was seeing.
"You’re in a public place, Lady Noraya; you should address His Highness properly," Ernie said, who seemed annoyed at what he was witnessing.
Noraya glared at Ernie, who seemed not to care about her.
"How dare a knight say something about what to do to my daughter?" She heard the baron say, which made Helion look at him.
"You keep on educating Lady Acantha in the north about manners and proper behavior, baron, but why does it seem like you were lacking in disciplining and teaching your daughter one?" Helion said to the baron, which made Noraya shocked at what she was hearing from him.
"B-but Her Majesty the Empress allowed my daughter to call you by your name," the baron said as he was defending himself and his daughter.
"I remember what my mother said, and she said it when it was within the family, and besides, did I agree to it?" Helion said coldly as he looked at the baron tiredly, who looked humiliated at the moment.
The baron was about to say something, but he chose not to as Helion glared at him.
"It seems like you’re leeching too much at the Empress’s power, Loren," the duke said as he stared at the baron coldly.
"Stay out of it, Solaris." She heard Lord Rigas say as he glared at her father.
"Stop me, Rigas," the duke said as he looked at Lord Rigas and was challenging the latter.
They were about to say it when suddenly Noraya fell to the ground, losing her consciousness.
The people panic as well, the four gentlemen.
Acantha looked at Noraya and saw she was faking it; she was, like, getting all the attention to her and especially Helion’s attention.
The four men walked as they brought Noray with them. The baron was even looking at Helion and seemed like he was waiting for him to do an action, which he failed as the latter didn’t move from where he was standing.
She looked around her and was startled when
She was suddenly pulled by the duke, and when she was about to say something, they were back at the duchy.
Acantha saw Mildred was waiting for her with Benedict, who looked worried at her.
"My Lady," Mildred said as she was near her.
She smiled at them and assured them that everything was fine.
"I’m sorry, Benedict, we didn’t get to eat there." Acantha apologized to Benedict for not getting him something sweet.
After that, she went straight to her room with Flamear, and as soon as they got back, he changed back to his form.
Acantha went inside her bathroom to change her clothes.
She was about to go to her bed when someone knocked on the door; she knows who it was, as she can sense its energy from the outside.
"Father," she said, and the door opened.
"I know you are mad, as I just suddenly pulled you from there," the duke said as he looked at her.
She was not mad; maybe she just didn’t like that she didn’t get to say goodbye to them, and besides, she still hasn’t helped those people who needed her help.
Acantha looked at her father in his eyes and-
