Chapter 63: Villainess No More?
Acantha looked at the people in front of her as she didn’t know how to handle them.
"Lady Acantha, help my baby, please. She’s been inflected with the same disease." The other woman from side said as she pleaded with her.
Acantah wanted to help them, but how can she help them when they keep on pushing her.
"I’ll help," Acantha said as she sighed, and she didn’t know what she said, which made everything worse as the people started pushing each other again.
"Me, first Lady Acantha!"
"No, I ask her first!"
"I needed her no!"
She heard people say as they were fighting at each other who would go first.
Flamear on the other side was looking at her as he was still with her.
"Shall I use some barrier for us?"Flamear asked her through her mind. Acantha shook her head. If she wanted too, she could do it by herself, but with these people, she didn’t want them to endure the things they already did when the market was attacked by the monster; some of them were the people she helped during that time.
The crowd of people suddenly was washed when they heard a loud thud.
Acantha looked beside her when she saw an old woman who fell from not so far. "Make a way!" Acantha said as she commanded the people to give her some way. She went straight to the woman and put her hands on her; she saw some blood on her head, and she was sure that it was hit when she fell to the ground.
The elder woman woke up, and Acantha heard the people gasp at what they witnessed.
"You’re okay, now." Acantha said as she looked at the elder woman, who was in awe, she looked at her and saw that she was feeling something on her chest.
"I don’t feel any pain in here now." The elder lady said as she looked at her, "Thank you, so much, my lady!" The elder woman said as she kneeled in front of her as a sign of giving her some respect and showing how thankful she is to her.
"No need to thank me," Acantha said as she looked at the elder woman.
She was about to turn around when another lady kneeled in front of her while holding a baby. "My Lady! Please help my son; he was dying." The woman said as she was pleading with her, Acantha kneeled in front of her to see the baby, and there she saw how the baby was pale, and it had so many rashes on it’s body that the baby kept on scratching while he was crying in itchiness.
Acantha uses her power on the crying baby, and his rashes and all the wounds that he has are slowly fading and healing. Everyone saw how the baby, who looks like dying every moment, gets a life within their eyes.
"Is Lady Acantha better than Lady Noray?" Acantha heard one of the people who was there say.
"I think so. Look at Lady Acantha; she was called an evil woman, but look who is heloung us now?" She also heard from them.
"You’re right.. The Baron also wanted Lady Noraya to only cure those nobles who could pay them." Acantha turned around and saw a man who was not old say those words, as he looked angry at what he said.
"That’s why your mother died, right?"The other man said as he looked at the younger man.
Acantha frowned at what she heard, so it was really true as what Jarnus said about those gifts, which was a payment for being cured.
That’s must why the baron became rich from being a poor one. Not that they were poor before; if she remembers from the novel, he became rich only after marrying Noraya’s mother, who came from a lower noble family, and he started his business when his father-in-law died, leaving them a fortune and a title.
The sight of the people kneeling brought her back to reality. As she raised her gaze, she noticed Helion approaching her, surrounded by knights who appeared to be separating her from the crowd.
Acantha bows her head to give respect as she should. "Your Highness." She said as she lifted her head to face him.
"I heard from Ernie that you were caught here," he said as he looked around them and saw many people who were still kneeling.
"Yes, I was just going to have some desserts here when suddenly a man bumped me and my cape fell," Acantha said as she looked at him.
"Why are you strolling her around?" He asked as he looked at her while he seemed weird; he looks weird right now.
"I’m not alone, see?" She said as she showed him Flamear, who was hiding somewhere in the cape’s pocket.
She saw Helion sighed; he looks tired; that’s what she noticed. "You didn’t sleep last night, didn’t you?" She asked as she looked at him, stiffened at her question.
"That’s not important; you should at least bring a guard when you went here." He said as he looked at her again, he didn’t look or sound angry, but rather, he looked worried at her.
"I was actually with-"
Acantha didn’t finish what she was saying when, out of nowhere, she saw Noraya, who was standing with her friends, and was even surprised to see who she was talking to.
"Helion!" Noraya runs to Helion, who looks surprised at what she did.
Acantha saw how the people who were now standing, which she hadn’t even noticed, whispered to each other.
"Hey, here’s Lady Noraya."
"Yes, and look! she calls the prince only with his name."
"Their bethrotal must be true!"
"Then what about Lady Acantha?"
Acantha looked at the people who kept on whispering about them.
"Didn’t you hear the news?" said the young lady who was holding a basket to the young man beside her.
"What news?" the young man asked him as they were still whispering to each other, but it seems like their whispers were too loud to be heard by her.
"Lady Noraya," Acantha looked at in front of her again when Helion said something. She saw how he was trying to remove Noraya’s arm from his as she was still clinging to him.
"You didn’t take me back yesterday back to our house." Noraya said sweetly, which made Helion look uncomfortable at her words.
"She was with his highness yesterday?"
"Does this mean we will hear the wedding news soon?"
She heard the people talk about it, and she looks at Noraya, who was now looking at her while smirking.
"Well, if it’s the famous Lady Acantha," Acantha turned around to see Lady Dorkinya, who was eyeing her from head to feet. She was accompanied by another two women who were looking down at her.
"Why hello too, Lady Dorkinya. It seems like you look well today, she said as she smiled sweetly at her before she turned to the other women. "And you? Do I know you?" She did what they did to her; she looks at them from head to feet. Aren’t their dresses kind of looking like you’re in some garden?
"That’s rude, Lady Acantha; they’re Lady Di Santris, Lady Amelia Di Santris, and Lady Jumela Di Santris," Lady Dorkinya said as she looked at her while she closed her fan.
"Do I really need to know them to be not rude?" Acantha said as she raised her brows at them.
"Lady Noraya, if you may, his highness has still something to do in here." Acantha turned and saw Ernie, who was talking to Noraya, who looked pissed at the latter.
"What are you doing here anyway, Lady Acantha?" She heard Noraya ask her.
"I was just helping some people. Lady Noraya," she said at her as she smiled sweetly to piss her off.
"She’s really rude, Noraya. She didn’t even pay us some respect, daughter of the count!" She head one of the Di Santris Lady said as she walks towards Noraya, who seems a little bit surprised with her cousins a little outburst.
"And why would she pay you some respect when you should be the one who’s doing that to her?" She head Ernie said, which made the ladies glare at him.
"I mean, my ladies, this is Lady Acantha; we were talking; she’s the only daughter of the duke, which made her higher than you, and besides, she just claimed her mother’s family, which made her the duchess of North, which made her more elevated status than you," Ernie said as he smiled at the lady, who seems surprised to know who she really is.
"But, Lady Noraya, didn’t you-" Lady’s Dorkinya’s words were stopped by Noraya, who moved towards her and covered her mouth.
"And why are you helping people here?" Noraya said as she changed the subject and was glaring at her friend, who shuts her mouth.
"Maybe because you failed to help these people?" She said as she looked at Noraya, whose face darkened at what she said.
"I didn’t fail to help them; it’s just... it’s just..." Noraya said to her as she lost her words, or the right word is she can’t say the real reason.
"It’s just what?" She asked as she crossed her arms on her chest.
She was not even surprised to see her eyes start to water.
"Why are you being mean to me?" Noraya asked her as she looked at her, like she hurt her or what.
"What did you say?"
She looked at behind her and saw-
