Chapter 56: The Lies, The Argument....?
Chapter 56: The Lies, The Argument....?
Acantha and others looked at the door when it suddenly opened. There the empress came out, who was smiling when she saw her son.
Acantha and the duke bowed their heads to pay attention, and she even saw how Noraya smirked at her when she didn’t bow to the empress and came running to her.
"Your Majesty!" Noraya said as she ran to the empress and went to her side and clung to it’s arms.
"Easy there, my girl," the Empress said, which made Noraya’s smiles bigger.
Acantha saw; she looked at her and smirked again.
"Oh, there’s the duke, Solaris." The Empress smiled at her father.
The Empress smile faded when her eyes landed on her. "Lady Acantha, you’re also here," she said, and Acantha could hear the bitterness in her voice, which she didn’t know for what.
As far as she could remember, she was her mother’s closest friend, and she didn’t do anything to offend her for her to bluntly show her dislikness towards her.
"Or should I call you Duchess now?" The Empress said as she looked at her.
"Mother," Helion said as he warned his mother, who seemed to want to make her intimidate.
"What?" The empress said as she looked at her son.
"I think we should go, Your Highness," the duke said as he seemed to notice the distaste in the empress towards her.
"Oh no, no, no, Arthur, you should join us for lunch here," the Empress said as she smiled at her father.
"I don’t think so, Your Majesty. It seems like you don’t like my daughter in here, Your Majesty." The duke said as he glared at the Empress.
The emperor just looked at his friend and his wife as he sighed.
"Duke Solaris, your actions are not appropriate." Noraya was the one who said those at the duke as she looked at him innocently.
Everyone looked at her when she did those things.
"There’s no need to do that, my dear." The Empress said as she looked at Noraya tenderly.
"Arthur, I was just asking for friendly lunch as my son just arrived here," the Empress said as she looked at them and smiled. "It should be celebrated, right, Lady Acantha?" The Empress said to her as she smiled at her, but her smile didn’t reach her eyes, which she knows why.
Acantha smiled back at the Empress as she turned to look at her father. "It’s alright, father. After all, I am hungry from our travel." She said as she winked at her father, who just sighed.
"We still haven’t eaten, right, Helion?" She turned around and smiled at him sweetly, which made him surprised, and she could see that his ears went read.
She even saw the Empress raise her brows when she heard her call his son by his name.
"Ahhm," he said as he cleared his throat and looked around him when he saw that everyone was looking at him, waiting for his answer.
Acantha sees at the corner of her eyes how Noraya grips her hands; why couldn’t Empress see this side of her beloved future daughter-in-law?
"Yeah, Lady Acantha might be hungry as we still didn’t have the time to eat our breakfast, and it’s almost lunch now." Helion said as he looked at his mother and back to her.
"I didn’t know that you are close to my son, Lady Acantha," the Empress said bitterly as she looked at her.
"Oh, we were closer than you’ll ever think, your highness," she said as she looked at the Empress and gave her the sweetest smile she had.
"You seemed to forget your place, lady Acantha." She looked at Noraya as she said those things, and she saw how she looked at her angrily.
"What do you mean, Lady Noraya? Aren’t you doing the same thing?" Acantha said as she acts innocently, which Noraya did awhile ago.
She saw Noraya look panicked when she said those words at her, and she looked around them like she was looking for someone to stand up for her.
"T-that’s different," she said as she stuttered.
"What’s the difference their, lady?" Acantha asked as she looked around them, like what Noraya did.
"I-i" She didn’t finish what she said as her eyes started to water like she’s going to cry any moment.
"The difference, Lady Acantha, is I let her call him that, and besides what’s there to be formal, their going to marry each other in the future anyway." The Empress said as she turned around to comfort Noraya, who sobbed.
"And I don’t like the way you seemed to be like calling my son informally; I think the Duchy Solaris lacks teaching you how to behave and respect those who are higher than you. Baron Abellarde was right to say you are quite rude and didn’t show any respect to anyone." The Empress continued as she looked at her and glared.
"I’m sorry to offend you, Your Highness. But your son was the one who told me to call him that," Acantha said as she looked at the Empress coldly. She didn’t care if she would be punished for disrespecting her, which she doubts.
"My daughter was taught by the best teachers here in our Empire, and Baron Abellarde said those things about my daughter?" The duke said as he went in front of her, like he was shielding her from the Empress.
"Arthur, Empress I-" The Emperor said as he was stopping his friend and his wife, who were glaring at each other.
"I should be the one who should feel offended, Your Majesty." The duke said as he seemed not to hear what when the Emperor tried to stop her.
"Your son knew how the Baron barged in the Klartis Duchy, where he just claimed the place as his and insulted my daughter in front of his highness the crown prince, which happened to be your son." The duke said as he glared at the Empress, who didn’t say anything.
"You should know that our family won’t do anything if someone doesn’t start it," the duke said as he looked at the Empress again.
"Are you telling me that the baron was lying to me?" The Empress said as she let Noraya go from her embrace.
"Wasn’t he all the time?" The duke said as he smirked at the Empress.
Acantha looked behind her and saw that the Emperor slapped his hand on his forehead as the two still kept on arguing.
"My father was not a liar." They all looked at Noraya, who was shaking as tears flowed down her cheeks when she said those things to the duke.
"Then what? Your father just made the whole Klartis and Solaris liars by spreading lies that my daughter disrespected him and threw him out of the place which he called his." The duke raised his voice as he glared at Noraya.
"Your daughter was evil. She was so mean; didn’t you know what she did to me last time?" Noray said as she was still shaking.
"My daughter did something to you?" The duke said as he walked near Noraya and smirked, "Lady, I knew what you did; I have my eyes and ears everywhere; I knew you were the one who started it; you called my daughter, and how did you bring up that she was using her power as my daughter in society?" The duke said, which made Noraya shut up.
Acantha looked at the Empress, who was forwning, and seemed surprised at what she was hearing.
"I suppose this is the end of our conversation here, and this time I want the north and the clarity from the south to be independent, as it seems like the mother of this empire has her favorites for those people who wrongly accused us of something." The duke said as he pulled her and threw the mana stones to teleport them to the duchy.

Helion gripped and clenched his fists when the duke and Acantha left the place; his mother just upset the duke and took Abellarde’s side.
"Arthur was rude to us; he wasn’t like that when Catanya was still alive," his mother said as she walked towards them.
"He wasn’t rude; you were the one who was rude, Mother," he said as he looked at his mother with disappointment in his eyes.
Helion had never been disappointed in his mother before, but it seems like his mother’s ears were close and she only listened to the lady beside her.
Helion looked at the lady and saw that she was still sobbing. He wanted to pity her, but he couldn’t; she just made them lose their strongest ally, and yet she was still here and had the face to stay.
"He is." The Empress insisted as she glared at him.
"He wasn’t like that when his wife was still alive; it seems like his daughter was not a good influence to him," the Empress said as she looked at him.
Helion saw in the corner of his eyes how his father put his face on his palm and sighed at what he was hearing from his mother.
It seems like she was totally brainwashed by them and was fed with so many lies that she didn’t listen to them anymore.
He walks near the door and was about to open it when someone stops his hand.
He looks and sees
