Chapter 52: The Letter, The Past...

"What was it?" Acantha asked as she opened the door and saw that Helion was talking to someone.

"It’s me, my lady." She heard the voice say, and she recognized that it was Ernie.

Acantha saw that Ernie handed Helion a letter, and she knew who it was from based on the Imperial seal of the Empress.

Helion opened the letter and read it, but instead of being happy to get a letter from his mother, Acantha saw irritation on his eyes when he read the letter.

"Is it an emergency?" Acantha asked as she was worried that the empress might send a letter for his son as they have an emergency.

Helion shook his head, and she heard him sighed as he put the letter down. Acantha was startled when Helion give her the letter and-

Dear Helion (I can call you Helion, right?),

Father told me that he saw you at North with Lady Acantha; he said that the lady was pushing you to stand against my father, but I wasn’t mad at you if you did. He also told me that he is not angry at you either.

The empress let me write a letter to you using her seal, as she wanted to tell you that she wasn’t angry at you either. My father told the empress that she shouldn’t blame you.

I wrote this letter to tell you I was worried about you. I think of you day and night. I think how are you doing? Are you fine? We were worried, as His Majesty won’t tell us where you are after you left the north.

Her Majesty was also so worried that she wanted to tell you to be careful. Also, tell Lady Acantha that her father may not forgive her, but we’re family. And tell her, I am not jealous of her being with you; well, maybe a little as she can be with you while I’m here in the capital waiting for you to comeback. I hope you are doing fine. Take care.

Love,

Noraya.

Acantha frowned at the letter; she wanted to laugh as it sounded so funny. What is there to forgive in the first place? Haven’t she had enough? First, the last time she sent her some letters, it also sounded like this, like she was blaming her for everything and trying to be nice, saying she has forgiven her.

Second, she should blame her father, not them. The baron was the one who just came to the north ununified and even claimed the place to be his.

"Is your fiancée lost her mind?" Acantha asked as she gave the letter back to Helion, who was looking like he wanted to tear the letter, which he did.

"Does she have a hobbit about blaming others for their actions?" She asked again when Helion didn’t answer her.

"Why has Mother always had her way to embarrass me by giving Lady Noraya the rights to send letters using our seals?" She heard Helion murmur at the side as he put his face on his hands in frustration.

"Shouldn’t you reply to your fiancée, and please do tell her I don’t need her to forgive me, as I should be the one to that, and tell her, I demand an apology from her?" Acantha said as she looked at Helion, who was also looking at her.

"I told you that Lady Nora is not my fiancée," Helion said as he looked at her while glaring.

"Oh? I thought she was, as she was always bragging that she was your fiancée; I remember all of the people in the capital knew who she was to you," Acantha said as she raised her brows to him.

"Mother was the one who told her that she was going to be the crown princess, as she has all the qualities to be one; besides, mother loves her as her daughter; that’s why she wanted me to marry her," Helion said to her as he sighed.

"Father and I were just tolerating her, as we knew that she was still hurt after my sister died when she was born. Lady Noraya was the one of the kids who my father took into the palace as my mother wasn’t speaking for months. That’s why father took all the kids who were girls in the palace to accompany my mother," Helion said to her as he sounds sad at the memories of the past.

She knew that Helion has a sister who died when she was born; that’s why the queen was so close to Noraya, and she made all the things to make them be together. In the story, the readers were praising the empress for what she did.

"Mother saw the frail kid; as Lady Noraya was sickly when she was a kid, she fell for her; she did even go to their house whenever Lady Noraya was sick, but that’s all. Father and I were keeping our mouths mum, and didn’t say anything about the baron’s dirty deed, as we don’t want her to get heartbroken at the idea that the family she trusted were only using her for their own gains." Helion continued as he looked at her.

"You should tell her then," Acantha said as she looked at the ceiling. She felt his gaze at her as if he were asking why she said so.

"I mean, it’s better to be hurt by truths than live your life when everyone was lying to you." She said she remembered her past life as Lucille. She was made as a cold person; when she’s not, she is forced to act like everything is fine when she’s not okay.

And she remembers living in a lie that everyone told her; her friends lied to her when she said she was her friend; her mom and dad lied to her whenever they said that they were just doing everything for her, when they were not.

And her grandfather, whom she trusted, lied to her when he told her that being herself would make other’s like her.

But he was the only one who she has; he was the only one who knows how childish she was and was the only one who loves her despite her flaws and not being perfect.

"I think what you said was right," Helion said, which brought her back to the present, where she was looking at the ceiling and Helion sitting not so far from where she was.

"You should; that’s why there are people who are taking advantage of others, because there are some people who seem to be willing to be taken advantage of too." Acantha said as she smiled a little at Helion, "And besides, I think it would be better if you and your father were the ones to tell the Empress about Lady Noraya’s family; she will be hurt, yes, but she would suffer more if it were to take longer," she continued as she looked at her feet.

Helion looked at her as he was in awe from what he was hearing from her; maybe he couldn’t believe that she, who was raised by the duke getting what she wanted, was giving him some advice.

She saw Helion open his mout, but then he closed it as he looked at the ceiling.

"I’ll tell her after we find the person who was talking to the man in the library, and after we find a cure for Flamear," Helion said as he stood up and made his way out of the room, but before he totally went, "Have a good night, My Lady." He said as he smiled.

Acantha was surprised that it was the very first time he saw him smile. She only saw him grinned and smirked, but he never smiled like this.

Acantha slept that night, remembering how the cold and ruthless prince smiled at her.

They were early in the morning as they were riding in a carriage on their way to the valetudoo. The coachman was hesitating as he said that place is where people are in the east won’t dare to go as it was said the place was cursed, but sadly the coachman also mentioned that they cannot enter the place as it has an owner.

Mildred was also with them, and she was holding Flamear on her lap while the jar where she sealed Gamon was under the carriage that they left at where they were staying.

They didn’t use their own carriage as it will attract people when they see the Imperial family symbol on it.

Some of the knights were also left their to monitor the place if there is something suspicious around the area.

Helion was on the other side of the carriage and was taking a nap. He seems to be very tired.

"Is it okay for us to go there, my lady?" Mildred said as she llookedat her.

"Yes, don’t worry, Mildred; as you heard the coachman, we can only stop at the nearby village," Acantha said as she looked outside the window as they entered a forest. She frowned when she saw that the place looked barren. The ground was very dry, and the plants who were there seemed to be dying.

There was also a river, but it was empty. How can this happen in here?

She tried looking for animals but saw none of them. The forest looks very dark. She only saw the sunlight again when they had already passed the forest.

"We are near now at the village," the coachman said, and Acantha saw Helion open his eyes.

She looked in front of them and saw a small village.

When they arrived at the village, she was shocked to see that-
