Chapter 49: The Nobles At The East...
"What was it, Mildred?" She asked, but when she turned, her left foot twisted, and she fell on the floor.
Acantha saw some people who looked at her when she fell, and not one of the knights dared to laugh, but she noticed in the corner of her eyes that there was one table with some noble young ladies who were laughing at her when she fell.
"Look at her; she looks pathetic," one of them said, and everyone who was at their table laughed.
Acantha saw that Jarnus and the others were about to stand from where they were sitting. She shook her head as she looked at them.
She stands up and walks back to where she was sitting again.
"Such unlady like" She head the girl who seems to be their leader, as the other girl was
The ladies were still looking at her like she was the weirdest thing they had ever seen in that place.
"Look what she was wearing," she heard one of them say.
Acantha almost rolled her eyes, typical snobbed rich people who always think higher of themselves and always looked down on those who were less fortunate to them.
They all turned to the door when it opened, and Helion entered the place.
She witnessed the women who had been making fun of her earlier tremble in shock upon seeing him.
"Are you all done eating?" Helion asked as he went to her.
Acantha just nodded, and everyone also did the same. "What about you?" She asked and was rather she didn’t as everyone looked at her and the knights seemed to be teasing her with their looks.
Helion looked at her, and Acantha saw that. He grins, "Are you worried?" He asked, which made Mildred cough in surprise.
Acantha looks at her and gives her some water. "Are you alright, Mildred?" she asks as the woman is pounding her chest.
"I’m okay, my lady," Mildred answered, but she was still coughing a little bit.
"And you, you should eat; you fought and used your energy today." She said as she made him sit in the chair where he was sitting when he received a message from the emperor.
"Look at that poor lady; does she know the man?" She head one of the ladies from the same table said again.
"It looks like she was one of his maids." The woman who was wearing purple clothes said as she looked at her from head to toe.
Acantha lifted her head when she saw a shadow behind them. When she lifted her head there, she saw the woman who was smiling but not at her.
"Mmm, excuse me." The lady said as she shyly looked at Helion, who seems not to care about her presence as he didn’t even lift his head to look at the woman.
"Would you mind if I ask your name?" The lady said, Still, Helion didn’t look at him as he ate his food.
"Are you deaf?" The woman continued to ask him, and Acantha sighed as she tapped Helion on his shoulder; she even saw in the corner of her eyes how the lady behind them glared when she did.
Helion looked at her. "Do you want to eat?" He asks her. Acantha looked at him as she pointed the lady at their back.
She saw Helion look at their back and-
"Can-"
Helion looks at his food again and ignores the lady who didn’t even finish her sentence.
"Hey, you’re being rude!" The lady said as she took Helion’s fork from him, which got his attention.
"I’ve been trying to be nice here even though you and your friends look poor." The lady said as she looked at their table and grimaced in disgust.
Acantha saw how Helion sighed, and she knows that he was trying to calm himself for the sake of their mission.
"I think you should go, lady," Acantha looked at and saw it was Jarnus who said those words as he tried holding the woman to leave their area.
The woman flinched and screamed, which gets everyone’s attention, "Don’t touch me with your filthy hands." The woman said as she slapped Jarnus hands, who seemed to be offended by what she did.
"Is there any problem here?" They heard someone say, and they saw that there were men who went near them.
"That man was harassing me," the lady said as she pointed at Jarnus.
"L-lady Jordina," the man said as she looked at the lady and recognized her.
The woman smirked at them as if she found someone with her.
"This man, you should teach him a lesson for grabbing me in my arms." She said as she crossed her arms and looked at them mockingly.
"You bastard!" The man shouted as he looked at Jarnus, who was clenching his fists. "How dare you mess with Lady Jordina?" The man shouted, and Acantha glared at the man.
She has been trying to calm the atmosphere, as she didn’t want to cause a scene, but this lady, whom she has been patient with, even helped her to know who Helion is, but there she is loud and proud.
"You should know better than to mess with me." The lady said to them, "Grab this man; I want them out of this place." She said as she pointed at them.
"This is just work, young man; you should know better who to mess with. Lady Jordina Marlow was the daughter of count Marlow, who lives in this place; they have one of the biggest territories here in the east." The man said as he was about to grab Jarnus when the latter kicked him on his stomach, which made the lady shriek in surprise.
The other man who was with the man was about to attack, but Jarnus was faster than them. Her, Helion, and the other’s just looked at them, not even bothered with the result, as they already knew that Jarnus could take all five of them.
Not too long, Acantha can hear some moaned from the five men as they were grunting in pain. Jarnus, on the other side, wasn’t even sweating as he finished the five men.
"You’re all going to pay for this!" The lady said humilitatingly as she walked out from the door, and her friends went with her while sending them some death glares.
Helion’s knights rejoiced and laughed when the ladies and the other men left the place.
Acantha looked at Helion, who just finished eating his food and now drinking water
"Do you have any plans? Where should we go tomorrow?" Acantha asked as they were on their way back to the place where they were staying.
"We need to find who owns the place that was the path to the Valetudoo Mountain," Helion said as he looked at her.
"Didn’t the empire have any records who owns the land?" She asked as they reached the place.
"I’ve tried looking for it; my father already sent me some records, but the record said that the land was owned by someone named Julian Cruix. I asked some people, but none knows who it was." Helion said as he walked her into her room.
Acantha went inside her room, as Mildred was just listening to them follow her inside.

Acantha woke up that morning when there was a loud knock on her door.
She opened it and saw it was just Mildred, who already prepared her ordinary clothes.
She took a quick bath and put on her clothes.
When she went down stairs, she was greeted by Helion, who looks like he was not in a good mood like he ever was.
"Let’s eat our breakfast first before we head to the library," Helion said to her as he was about to get her arms, but Acantha refused as Mildred was looking at them, and besides, it would be awkward and uncomfortable to walk while being escorted by him.
"What about the others?" Acantha said when they got out and the others weren’t with them.
"They were already there," Helion said as he grabbed her arm when she was shrugged by someone who seemed to be in a hurry and didn’t even notice that he had already bumped her.
The restaurant wasn’t that far from the inn, as the latter was still underconstruction from what happened yesterday.
Why does it seem like trouble was always on their side? She just hoped today they won’t encounter any trouble, as they need to hurry to find someone they need to find; they don’t have enough time for any troubles again.
When they entered the place, there were still not many people, as it was early—not quite early, but people in the east were just like the people in the capital, well, except that the things you can see in the capital are more lavish than what they had heard in the east.
She remembers that one of those councils, Baron Cargin, had a big land here in the east, which is now owned by the duke. She wanted to visit it, but she knows people who live there know about Helion as she heard that he was sent by the emperor to personally check the place and give the edict that the baron and his family were stripped off their titles and richest.
Acantha sat on the table and there were already foods; they were eating when suddenly there was a loud noise from the door and -
