Chapter 48: The Mystery

Acantha and the others went inside the clinic As they got inside, they saw some suspicious things at the place. The other people didn’t come in as they were still scared of what would happen to them, but some went with them to see if the people who were found dead were their loved ones.

Acantha saw that Helion and the other knights tied the knights who threatened them in the corner.

"You won’t get away for this," Acantha heard one of the knights say.

Acantha glared at the man; he has the nerve to threaten when he can’t even do anything, and besides, who would dare touch them if they knew who they were? unless...

"Look at here, Your Highness." Acantha lifted her head and saw what Jarnus was showing at Helion.

"Isn’t this a fake mana stone?" Acantha heard Helion say as he lifted one of the stones as he examined it.

"But this one is different from what we got from the baron," Acantha said as she got "the stones from Helion, and she didn’t feel anything from it. "I’m right, this one didn’t contain any dark energy. It’s just an empty shell, or- " Acantha stopped in the middle of her sentence when she noticed something from the shelf where they got the stone.

"This is a -," Jarnus said as he got that thing, and his eyes grew wider when he saw it.

Everyone who was in the room when they saw the thing that Jarnus got, some was even crying as they saw it.

"How can a clinic that was supposed to be curing people have a human head here?" Acantha said as she was covering her nose that the smell from the corpse head was really bad.

Acantha walked again and found a room, and she tried to open it, but it seemed like it was locked. She saw Helion walk towards here, and he kicked the door open for her.

Everyone who was there followed here, and they were greeted with a stench smell. Some even went out to vomit.

Inside the room, there is a pond of people’s bodies that are scattered all over the room.

"This is beyond what I expect," she said as she was about to cover her nose when Helion pulled her, and he waved a handkerchief before he tied it on her head to cover her nose.

Acantha went to where the bodies are, and when she looks at it, there are similarities with everyone of them; it seems like there chests were torn and their hearts were all missing.

"Hey, look at this," she said as she pointed Helion at the bodies that were in front of her.

"It seems like it wasn’t made by a person," Helion said as he looked at the bodies, and Acantha could only look at him as he was looking at each body.

"Aren’t these bodies the ones that they found at the mouth of the mountain?" She asked as she looked around and saw that the people who were with them were shaking their heads.

Jarnus and the others started putting all the bodies down to let the other people identify and claim them.

They were startled when suddenly there was a woman rushing through the door, and it seems like she just arrived at the place.

"Where’s my husband?" She asked as she looked around and when she spotted one of the bodies far from where they are.

The woman cried as she rushed to one of the bodies as she was crying when she reached.

Everyone just looked at her while she was crying while hugging the dead body, whom she identified as her husband.

"Your highness!" They heard someone shout there, and they saw another knight who was looking at the wall.

Acantha saw how Helion rushed to the knight; she also followed him, and there they saw a wall, but it wasn’t an ordinary wall.

She saw how Helion knocks on the wall, and it seems like there was something behind it. She felt something wet as she walked, and when Acantha looked down, she saw there was blood gushing down.

"Look!" She said as she pointed down her.

Helion, who also looked at where she pointed, kicked the door when he lifted his face.

The wall cracked, and there was another batch of stench smell that came behind it.

"Shit," Acantha said as she saw one monster who was opening someone’s chest, and it seems like the monster was in a room that has some spell on it as it cannot hear them.

"Tell everyone to get out from here!" She said as she looked at the people behind them.

She saw how the other knights pulled the people out of the place, and when Acantha looked back, she noticed that the monster was walking to their place, and it seems like the spell or barrier that was put in has already worn off.

Acantha recognized the monster from the novel; it was a monster that was used by Tenebrisaya to attack the north.

She knows that this monster wasn’t easily killed, as it was like a puppet, a dead puppet that the mad emperor of the Tenebrisaya made to be his soldier.

It looks like a zombie from the movies she used to watch whenever she was stressed from everything, but the difference is, it’s bigger and taller than a usual size of people.

The monster looked at them like he was looking at his food.

"Shit, we need to secure this place first," she said as she put up a barrier so that no one would see what would happen inside the place.

Helion went to the monster as he fought the monster who was about to attack them. Acantha saw he pulled his sword as he tried slicing the monster, but it wasn’t working.

How could this be?

It should show somehow any effects on the monster.

She was back to reality when she heard a thud, and there she saw Ernie and Jarnus were also fighting it.

She looked at the monster again when she noticed something on it’s body.

It seems familiar to her.

Acantha blasts the monster to the wall as she runs to where Helion says, "Try hitting it on it’s side. There was some sparkly thing there." She said as she pointed him to the monster side, where she saw the small light.

Helion nodded at her and went to attack the monster again.

The room was in chaos, but the people outside didn’t know what was going on inside the clinic, or they thought it was a clinic?

Acantha was trying to bind the monster as Helion was trying to attack it.

"My lady," She heard someone behind her, and there she saw Ernie, who has some blood on his head, as he was sent flying by the monster awhile ago.

She looks back again to where Helion is and sees that he stabbed the monster in the place where she pointed him.

"It worked!" She said as she saw the monster was fading in the air, and something fell from the air.

Acantha went to get it, and there she was right. It was the same as the mana stone they had found awhile ago.

It wasn’t empty after all, but the stones they had found were already purified by someone. The mana stones that she gets from the monster were almost the same with the count, but it was different as it was stronger, and the energy seems to be not the same. The person who might make these stones was different from the one who made the baron’s.

She showed the stones to and explained what she just found.

Helion called his other knights to clean the place and gather all the bodies. As they went out, they saw so many bodies were already lying outside while some people were trying to recognize them, whether it was their family members or not.

Acantha and the other were back at the inn where they were staying, and they learned from the people who were thankful for what they did as they got their families back even though it was already a dead body.

The people who were found were not from the mountain that they were going, but it was from another mountain, and no one can enter the place, so no one can go there in that place.

But what was the mystery—who’s killing who? in some area of the place? As they also heard, there were also some dead bodies from the other side of the east.
