Chapter 47: The Commotion....
Mildred was about to say something, but Acantha sighed at her.
Acantha’s cheeks were red as she was being hotseated by Mildred, who was looking at her with her serious face.
"I am glad that there was nothing between you two," Mildred said as she sighed at me.
She looks like she was relieved to hear those words from me.
"But may I ask why you ask, Mildred?" Acantha said as she looked at her again.
"I just don’t want you to get hurt, my lady. Besides, His highness is already engaged with Lady Noraya, who was favored by the empress." Mildred said to her.
Acantha already knows it; when Helion and Noraya got married in the novel, there was no one who was happier than the empress herself, as she was the one who brought the two together.
"You don’t need to worry, Mildred. Besides, what the prince and I had was purely because we had the same goal: to finish and kill all the monsters in this empire." She said as she turned around on her.
Acantha changes her clothes that Helion and Mildred bought from the market as they were going to gather some information.
"I have asked some people about the rumours that we heard, but they said it was just a rumour that those people were killed in the mountain," Helion said as they walked at the market.
"Didn’t they find those bodies at the mouth of the mountain?" She asked as she looked around and saw that there were so many people in the market.
"Yes, but they found something on those bodies; people now were saying that those were killed by those people to whom they owed a debt," Helion said to her as he stopped walking.
"What was it?" She asked him with confusion about why he stopped. She saw that he was looking at something.
She looked at where he was looking and saw that he was looking at the wanted photos that were pasted in one of the shops.
"Look, these people here had been found dead!" They heard someone say at their back as that man was talking to a woman.
"Yes, they have been found this morning, and yesterday there were another set of wanted people who had been found dead." The woman answered to the man, and Acantha could feel the fear in her voice.
Acantha looked at Helion as he walked close to the shop where the pictures are posted.
She sighed as she followed him there. "Do you know them?" She heard the old man who was about to remove pictures ask Helion.
Helion shook his head. "Do you know the path to the mountains where they were found?" Acantha looked at the old man, and he saw him pale when Helion asked him.
"W-what are you going to do there?" The old man asked as he looked scared of that place.
"Were only going to see those found bodies," Acantha was the one who answered, as she can feel the pressure for the man, and he looks scared of Helion and the place that they were mentioning.
The man felt a little when she was the one who was asking him.
"The bodies were there, but you can’t go near the mountain as it was owned by someone." The old man said as he pointed to an establishment not far from where they are.
The man turned his back on them when he finished getting all the posters from the wall as he went inside the place.
"You shouldn’t do that to people," she said as she pulled him to walk to the place where the man said the bodies are.
When they arrived at the place, they saw that there were people in front of a clinic, and there are many people outside. It seems they too were curious to know about the bodies that were found.
"There’s so many people in here," Acantha said, looking at Helion, who was on her back as people flock outside the place.
"I know." Helion answered her coldly.
"Then someone will recognize you here!" She said, and Alcantha almost fell, if only Helion didn’t hold her on her waist, when people started pushing each other when someone from the clinic went out.
Why are they pushing each other just to see the bodies? Are they that thirsty for gossip, or is there something else?
Acantha snapped when she heard someone was wailing, and there she saw a woman who was crying while trying to get inside the place.
"What was going on?" She can’t help but to say.
The woman in front of her who was also trying to get inside looked at her.
"Are you new here?" The woman asked as she looked at her. "I didn’t see you here before." The woman said as she looked in front again as she was trying to go inside.
"Why are there so many people who were rushing here to get inside?" She asked the woman as she was struggling in her balance, while Helion was still at her back, who seems to be her wall who’s protecting her from everyone at the back.
"You might probably pass the restaurant where there are posters there." The woman continued, and Acantha saw that she winced in pain when someone accidentally hit her in the jaw.
"Those posters were posters of people who went missing in the east."The woman continued. "Some people were spreading some rumors that those who were found dead were bad people who had so many debts." The woman continued as she looked at her.
"These clinics," she pointed at the clinic, and Acantha saw anger in her eyes. "Those people who die do have some debt, but we were paying it working for them." She looked at the clinic and saw that there were some knights who were already there.
Acantha looked back to Helion, who was listening to them the whole time. "Do you know who owns this place?" She asks as she points him to the clinic.
Helion shook his head as he frowned; he seemed not to know this place either.
"Stop!" She heard someone in front shout, and they saw that the knights were already drawing their swords as one of them walked in front.
"Stop! If you tried to push hard to go inside, we won’t hesitate to use our swords on you!" The knight said, and from the look of his clothes, Acantha was sure that this man was the leader of the knights.
Acantha snapped at what the man said, and she saw that Helion was too, as he was not just clenching his jaw but was also clenching his jaw.
Acantha saw Helion lose his temper and observed him walk in front of the many people who stopped pushing in as the knights warned them not to.
She walks while she was trying to slightly push the people in front of him, when
"You! Stop there!" The knight said as he pointed at Helion, who was pushing through people, and when he finally got out of the crowd of people, the knights drew their swords at him.
But it didn’t Helion him from going in front.
"I told you to stop." The man said as he commanded his knighs to surround Helion, who seems not to care.
And how didn’t these knights recognize him? That’s odd.
"Take another step, and the swords will be on your neck." The knight told Helion, and Acantha almost smirked.
These knights didn’t know who they were missing, and the question is, are they really a knight?
Acantha saw how Helion kicked one of the knights and how he flipped one at the same time.
People who were there looked in shock as they saw how Helion took every knight in just a minute.
The leader of the knights looks furious and scared at the same time when Helion walks towards him. Acantha just sighed as she walked towards him.
"Tell me who owns this place." Acantha asked the man who was now holding Helion.
The man shook his head as he was resisting to answer while at the same time he was trying to break from Helion’s grip on his neck.
"If you wanted to stay alive, you should’ve answered her question." Acantha turned around and saw that Ernie, Jarnus, and others were already there.
Acantha looked at them and saw that they were also wearing ordinary clothes, so no one would know that they were the empire’s knights.
Ernie looked at her and winked. Acantha rolled her eyes at him. Why is this man so flirty? He and Evan might be a long-lost sibling as they like winking and flirting.
"Who. Owned. This .Place?" Acantha looked back again at Helion, who was now questioning the man.
"I-I don’t know," the man said as he coughed for air.
"What do you mean you don’t know?" Acantha was the one to ask this time, "You’re not a knight; then maybe your from a guild here?" She asks as she looks around and sees that people were surprised to hear those words she said.
The man was about to say when suddenly, in a flash of light, there was an-
