Chapter 44: The Taboo Part 1

Chapter 44: The Taboo Part 1

Acantha was panicking as she didn’t know what to do with Flamear, who was still unconscious.

Why did Flamear fall unconscious? Is there something wrong? He didn’t even say anything.

"What’s wrong with him?" She asks as Helion was holding Flamear’s hand as he returned to his original form.

Acantha saw that the pattern had changed and was different from what she saw on him the last time.

"I am not familiar with this pattern." Helion said to her.

Acantha looks confused; how can she help Flamear if no one knew about this pattern?

Where could they find it? Maybe they should ask the fairies about it, but they were far from it now, and besides they-

The book!

Acantha stopped thinking when she remembered about the book.

The book must have something that can help her help Flamear.

She looks at the jar in one place; she almost forgot about it.

Acantha went back to where she put the jar to get it, and when she finally did, she followed where Helion went.

"You should make him smaller so we can put him inside the carriage," Helion said to him, which she did.

Acantha entered the carriage and saw Mildred was still there waiting for her; she gave her the jar that contained Gamon.

"Be careful with that one, Mildred." Acantha warned Mildred as she saw that the latter was shaking the jar that has some black smoke inside.

"What is this, my lady? and what happened to Flamear?" Mildred asks her when she settled down.

"That’s Gamon," Acantha said, which made Mildred frown at her.

Oh, she forgot...

"Gamon?" She heard Mildred say as she was tossing the jar upside down, Poor Gamon, he might be feeling dizzy right now.

"Gamon was a demon who was with the bandits who attack us." Acantha said as she rested Flamear on the cushion.

Mildred shrieked and threw the jar. Good thing Acantha was fast to use her power to catch the jar.

She sighed in relief when she caught the jar. Acantha placed it under the chair inside the carriage, but before that, she cast something to ensure the jar wouldn’t get broken even if it fell or what.

"Is everything alright?" She heard Helion ask; she almost forgot about him, who was still there.

"Yes," she answered as she looked at Mildred, who was paling.

"Are you alright, Mildred?" She asked as she noticed that Mildred’s chest was going up and down fast.

"Why do you have that thing, my lady?" She asks as she looks at where she put the jar.

"We need it to know where Abanoon’s disciple is; beside, I have this feeling that the disciple of Abanoon was the one who freed these demons," Acantha said as she looked at where Mildred was also looking at.

Acantha looks at the surroundings and sees it was already morning, as she can hear some birds chirping from the outside. They had been travelling for almost two days, and still they haven’t arrived at the East.

The carriage stopped and-

She looked at the window when she heard someone was knocking, and when she opened it, she was greeted by Helion’s serious face.

Doesn’t this man get tired from not smiling and having only one expression?

"Jarnus and the others were going to prepare for our food." Helion said, and he saw he roamed his eyes around the carriage.

"Thank you," Acantha said as she matched his coldness. "Are we still far from the east?" I asked as I got out of the carriage while Mildred was following me behind.

Helion looked at her, and he looked at her from afar.

"Were not that far."He said as he led us to where they put a blanket and prepared all the foods.

"What about those travellers who were originally from the east?" Acantha asked as she saw that they also had their own blankets that were on the grass.

"What about them?" Helion asked her and also looked at those people to whom she was looking.

"You told me yesterday that they were robbed? So, do they have some foods with them?" Acantha asked as she saw some kids running freely as they played.

Acantha eats her breakfast, and after that she walks and goes to where the people were.

"My Lady." Everyone welcomed her when they noticed her; they even stopped doing what they do, and some stopped the children from playing.

Acantha looked at them and saw that it seemed like Helion gave them some food.

"No, just don’t make them stop." Acantha said as she looked at children who looked sad when they were told to stop by their parents.

"I was just here because I want to check all of you; is everyone alright?" She said as she asked them.

Everyone looked at her like she did something strange.

"I told you she was the one who saved us yesterday," Acantha heard someone say, and when she looked, it was from a little boy who was wearing clothes that looked like they had been tattered for overuse.

"Yes, she was very awesome yesterday; I saw her eyes!" One of the boys said who was with the little boy who she first saw.

"Yes, her eyes look like a sun! It was gold and sho bright!" She heard from the little girl who was with them.

"Yes, she also has a pet; it was very big!" She heard them gasp when one of the kids told them about Flamear.

"Yes, her pet saved and protected us!" Acantha looked at the children as they were rejoicing.

"My Lady." She turned around and saw one of the men call her.

"If you won’t mind, can we know what happened to the beast who helped us?" He asked as he looked around her, trying to see if Flamear was with her, and when he saw nothing, he looked back at her.

"He was unconscious; I don’t know what happened, but he just fell," she said as she looked at him.

"If you may, can we look at him?" He asks, and though Acantha was still a little bit hesitant, she called Mildred to get Flamear.

When Flamear got to them, everyone was shocked to see what happened to the beast that they were looking for—the beast who saved their lives.

The man went nearer to Flamear, and Acantha confusingly looked at the man as he was looking at the pattern on his body.

"This is not a simple rune; the beast might have said or was about to say something about the taboo." The man said she was still examining Flamear’s body.

"What taboo? We were just talking, and I was asking about who was Solaia." She said as she looked back to Flamear, who was still lying unconscious.

She heard the man snap and look at her.

"Solaia?" He asked as he looked at the people behind him who were also surprised by what she said. "You know about Solaia?" He looked at her as he asked.

"No, that’s why I am asking about, and that happened to him when I was asking him about the goddess." Acantha said as she kneeled and sat down on the grass and put Flamear on her lap. "But how do you know about her? You’re all from the east, right?." She asks as she frowns at them.

She saw how they looked at each other like they were afraid to tell her something.

"Are you from the north, too?" She said as she looked at them again.

She didn’t get any response from them. " I am from the north; I am a Klartis," She said as she looked at them.

Everyone looked at her like they were surprised to hear what she said.

"Are you sure you’re a Klartis?" She looked around and saw an old woman say that.

"Yes, I am," She said and she frowned Why does these people seem not to know who she is?

"The only person who we knew that was claiming to be Klartis was the Baron." The man said as he looked at her.

"Looked at her eyes." Acantha turned around and saw an older man say those words.

Everyone looked at her eyes, and she heard them gasp.

"She really has the Klartis eyes, as they said." One woman said, and everyone looked at her.

Why did they only notice it?

The kids had been talking about her eyes, and here the adults only noticed it when someone pointed it at them.

"Yes, I am Klartis. I am Catanya’s daughter, the late duchess of Solaris and Klartis." She said, as she didn’t know why they were so afraid to tell if they were from the north.

"She really looks like her grace when she was her age," the older woman said again as she looked at her.

"Now, can you tell me what the taboo is you talking about?" She asks, as she doesn’t know what they are talking about and what it does to Flamear.

"If she was a Klartis, then, then... the beast, this beast is the beast in the magic forest." She heard one of the men say as he pointed at Flamear.

"Yes," Acantha said as she looked behind her and saw Helion walking near her.

"There was once a goddes who came here in our land; her name was Solaia. She has a twin sister-"

"I already know what I want to know about the taboo," she said as she felt Helion’s presence behind her.

"The goddes-"
