Chapter 43: The Shadow In The Dark

She took a step when she saw something like a shadow crawling on the ground.

"Helion!" She shouted as she used her power and saw that the shadow that she saw was a person. She lifts it up and pulls it to her and strangles it’s neck.

"Who are you?" She coldly asks the shadow as she holds it’s neck. "Reveal yourself at once." Acantha said as she threatened the shadow.

The shadow revealed itself, and Acantha saw a man who was wearing a mask.

What’s with people and their masks?

"Who are you?" She said as she looked at the man in front of her.

"My lady, leave him to us," Jarnus, who was now beside her, said as he was looking at the person she was holding.

Acantha didn’t let the man go, as she could sense something else with him; he wasn’t like an ordinary bandit; he could hide himself in a shadow.

Flamear, who also went to her, looks at the man.

"He was not using any stones like that baron had." Flamear said, which Acantha already knows.

"What do you mean?" Helion, who was now behind her, asks as he looks at the man that she was holding.

"This man, he was born with it," Flamear said to Helion as he looked at the man she was holding.

"But that’s impossible; only a few families are blessed by the goddess and the dragons." Jarnus was the one who said those things.

"Yes, there are only some families who have been blessed and born with powers." Ernie said as he agreed to Jarnus.

"Did I say he was blessed?" Flamear said to the others, Acantha, look at him and frown.

"What do you mean?" She asks as she puts the man down while binding him, with her power to stop him from escaping.

"This man, he was one of Abanoon’s monsters," Flamear said to them.

Can a monster be in human form?

"What? But that’s impossible!" Ernie said, Acantha saw that Ernie looked at the man who was struggling in trying to free himself from being bound.

"What do you mean with that Flamear?" Helion asked, and Acantha saw that he walks where the man is and looks at it to see if it will shift into something.

Acantha has some hunch now; it might be one of the monster’s powers to steal someone’s body and live with it.

"You are right," she heard Flamear say as he looked at her.

Acantha saw Flamear walk to where the man is, and he stopped in front of it.

They all watched as Flamear was looking at the man, and everyone saw that his eyes glow when he did.

"What is he doing?" Helion asks her, as he is now beside her.

"Shh.." She said as she tried to stop him from speaking, "Just take a look." She said as she pointed at where Flamear was and saw that he was already done.

"This monster has been residing in this body since it was a kid," Flamear said as he looked at Acantha.

"Is there any other way for us to get the monster out of it’s body?" She said as she looked at Flamear.

"Yes, there is a way," Flamear said, which gave her hope to help the man.

"How?" She said as she looked at the man, who now seemed exhausted from trying to escape, and that was only when Acantha noticed that the man had so many burns on his skin.

Acantha has an idea. She looks at the man and uses her power to purify him; how can she forget about it?

As she was purifying the man, there was black smoke coming out of it’s mouth and right there. She saw the true form of the monster who was residing in the bandits body.

"What was that?" She heard someone say, but Acantha wasn’t paying attention as she was looking in front of her where the monster was now.

The monster stood very tall; he was really a shadow without physical form.

"You!" The monster said, which made Acantha look at it.

"Did the monster speak?" She heard Jarnus say.

"Why are there humans who were interfering with me?" The monster said as it made some smaller version of itself.

"Prepare yourself!" Acantha warned and the other’s follwed her when they saw that the monster keeps on making some smaller version of itself.

"You, who are you?" The monster said as it pointed someone, and Acantha looked where it was pointing and saw that it was pointing at Flamear.

"I now know you!" The monster said when it seemed to realize something and started walking to where Flamear is.

"Be still!" Flamear said, and it made some echoes, which made all the monsters stop from what they are doing.

"You! You’re not just an ordinary beast; I know you! You are Solaia’s pet!" The monster said as it was still trying to resist whatever Flamear did, but it didn’t succeed.

"What did you do to me, Flamear?" The monster yelled, and everyone covered their ears as it was very painful to hear.

"You remember me now. Gamon," Flamear said as he looked at the monster who was looking at the latter angrily. "I thought it was just another monster of Abanoon; it was just you too bad," Flamear said mockingly to the monster, which made it more angrier.

"Everyone, you don’t need to worry yourself; Gamon was a demon of Abanoon, a lower one in that sense." He said.

"How dare you! I was one of my master’s powerful demons!" Gamon said as he looked at Flamear, which made Acantha look at him.

"You! You! It’s you!" Gamon said, which made Acantha look at him. She saw how the demon who she taught was a monster; a while ago, its eyes grew big when he saw her.

"Why are you here?" Gamon continued as he was still looking at her.

"Why shouldn’t I be here?" Acantha said as she raised her brows at the demon, who still looks surprised when it sees her.

"You will ruin everything again," Gamon yelled at her, which made her ears hurt from its sounds.

"Stop yelling!" Acantha said as she used her power to vanquish the smaller shadows he created.

"Why are you still alive?" Acantha snapped at Gamon as he asked those words.

"What do you mean I am still alive?" She asks as she walks near to where he was.

"You should have been dead!" He said as he stepped back, but couldn’t do it because he was still held by her powers.

"What do you mean?" She said as she was glaring at Gamon, who seems to be scared of her.

"You know what I mean, Solaia. I saw you die with my master that day!" Gamon said as he looks furious at her, but Acantha can sense fears in his eyes.

"Solaia?" Isn’t she the goddess that her mother talked about in her diary when she discovered it in her own room?

Oh, she forgot to tell it; she found a diary where her mother was talking about a goddess named Solaia, and she knows it was Flamear’s previous master, but she didn’t know why the monster was calling her Solaia.

She didn’t tell it to anyone, as she wanted to have something from the dutchess that only the two of them knew.

"Why are you calling me, Solaia?" Acantha asked; it’s not the first time she heard someone call her that. Even Flamear in her dream, and when she first woke up and saw him.

Also, there was a man and a woman who were also calling her that.

Acantha saw that Gamon was about to say something when suddenly it’s mouth was sealed with something.

"What just happened?" She asks Flamear who was behind her.

"It seems like someone curses him; it must be Abanoon." Flamear said to her.

"Isn’t Abanoon dead?" She asks, How can she still curse her own demon when she is already dead?

"It seems like Gamon was bound into something," Flamear said, which made her look at him.

"Then I should ask you, Flamear? Why are they calling me Solaia?" Acantha asked as she looked at Flamear and felt him stiffen beside her.

"Who was Solaia?" Helion asked behind her.

"I don’t know," Flamear said as he couldn’t even look straight into her eyes.

"Tell me Flamear" Acantha said as she didn’t bother answering Helion.

"I don’t know," He still answered at her.

"You don’t know? or you don’t want me to know?" Acantha said as she looked at him and saw he looked down.

"Not that I don’t want you to know; it’s just I can’t!" Flamear said, and Acantha saw so many patterns like what she saw on his body when she first saw him.

Flamear fell unconscious on the ground as the patterns were still visible on it’s body.

"What happened?" She panicked as she was trying to heal him, but nothing changed.

"It must be he too was bound not to say anything about Solaia." She head Helion speak at her side as he too was looking at Flamear, who was glowing.

Acantha looked at Gamon and used her power to shrink him and put him in a jar, which she got on her side.
