Acantha put all her things in the room that they got for her and Flamear was already there, as he had been hiding from everyone, as it was not normal to see such a beast and worse, he’s a divine beast.

They all settled in that night and slept early, as they were going to start to look for clues in this town.

Acantha woke up when she heard some knock.

"Are you awake now?" She heard from the outside of her door.

"Just a moment, I’ll meet you at the restaurant," Acantha said as she yawned and stretched her body.

She took a really fast bath as she didn’t want to slow them down.

Acantha looked at her surroundings. if in the capital they were all wearing fancy clothes, here they were wearing normal clothes.

"What is this?!" Acantha heard someone yell when she just entered the restaurant where they ate yesterday.

"We’re very sorry, Lady Marissa..." The woman who served them yesterday said to a woman who was wearing clothes like what the people in the capital were wearing.

"Sorry? Do you think your sorry could compensate for my dress?" The woman who was called Marissa yelled at the woman who was bowing her head and not even daring to lift her head.

"We’re very sorry." The man who was with the woman who looked like she was the owner of the restaurant and the very same man she saw last time was now also bowing his head to the woman who was making some scene.

"My Ladyyy!" Acantha looked at where she heard the shout and at the very corner of the room she saw Helion, who was with Jarnus and Ernie, who seemed to give the latter some knock on his head.

Acantha was about to step forward when she saw that people were looking at her.

"Idiot!" She heard Jarnus say to Ernie, whose eyes were wide open when he realized that they had gotten the people’s attention on them.

"You!" Acantha looked at the woman who yelled as she looked at her back.

"You stupid woman!" the lady named Marissa said as she walked in her direction.

"Me?" Acantha asked as she frowned at the woman in front of her.

"And who do you think the stupid woman here ?" the woman yelled at her face that Acantha used her hand to fan in the air.

"You?" She asked as she looked at her and the woman glared at what she said.

"Why you..." she said to her as she saw her face turn red in humiliation.

"Is there something wrong here?" they both looked when Helion spoke behind her.

"And who are you?" Acantha raised her brows when she heard the woman’s voice become soft when she spoke to Helion.

"I am her husband," Helion answered, which made Acantha cough at what he said.

"What did he say?" Acantha heard Ernie say as he was also already behind Helion with Jarnus with him.

"Husband? Are you sure you’re not blind?" the woman said as she looked at her and Helion again.

Acantha knew why she was acting like that; after all, their appearances are different from their real faces, though Helion still looks very handsome.

"Did I hear it right?" He continued as he even looked at the three of them.

"Yes, she’s my wife... Do you have any problem with her?" Helion asked the woman, who got red and looked angry now.

"Well, your wife was gossiping," the woman said as she looked back at her and glared.

"Pardon for the intrusion, lady, but you seem to get it wrong. I just arrived here and you were yelling that everyone can be heard. if I am gossiping, does that make all of the people who were here gossiping too?" Acantha said as she crossed her hand on her chest as she faced the lady.

Acantha heard Ernie chuckle at their back, and it seemed like the lady also heard him.

"You, how dare a traveler mock a duke’s daughter?" The lady said as her face was really red.

Acantha looked at the her and that’s why she was wearing such an expensive dress and dared to harass the people here: because she was the daughter of the duke who owns this territory.

The lady walked out from the place as she looked humiliated.

"You shouldn’t have dared to talk back to her..." They all looked at the woman, who looked scared as she was shaking in fear.

"Yes, Sarah is right. The duke was a cruel and ruthless person, and he doted on his younger daughter so much that everyone who crossed their paths with her ended up dying or in demise.

Acantha looked at the two who seemed to be really scared.

"Don’t worry, we can manage them," Acantha said as she looked at them, who were still shaking in fear.

Acantha and the others eat their meals when suddenly the door flings open.

"Here they are," They heard a familiar voice say, and the four of them looked at the woman who was with the knights as she was pointing her finger at them.

Acantha saw that Helion and the others were about to summon their swords when she stopped them.

"My lady?" Jarnus asked as he looked confused when she stopped them. also Helion was looking at her with confusion in his eyes.

"Don’t you think there isn’t any better place to easily find a map to find the dagger than to get inside the duke’s house without us forcing our way there?" Acantha asked and the three seemed surprised at what she said but they all nodded at her idea.

"Arrest them, and bring them to father." The lady said as she smirked at them when her knights obeyed what she said.

Acantha and the others didn’t resist when the knights took them.

"Are we really letting them treat us like this?" Ernie said as they were in a carriage that was meant for criminals so that everyone who they passed could see their faces, but instead of insulting faces, they saw some empathy and worry in the people’s eyes as they passed them.

"It seems like people here already knew about the duke being ruthless and cruel," Jarnus said as he was looking outside while Helion was covering her from everyone.

"Bring out the criminals." The carriage had stopped and they heard a man’s voice said.

"The duke was already waiting for them," The other knight who opened the door said as he glared at them and shook his head.

"You must be new here. too bad you crossed paths with Lady Marissa," He said as he let them out harshly.

"The duke was a distant relative of the current emperor from his mother’s side, and he doted on his youngest daughter the most," He said and Acantha almost rolled her eyes as she had already heard that one.

Her father doted on her too, but that is not an excuse to accuse those innocents who didn’t touch her hair, but her ego couldn’t take it.

The duchy looks extravagant and looks big, but not as big as their home.

There were a lot of paintings on the hallway while they were walking on their way to what seemed to be like a dungeon or something.

They stopped at one of the doors, and the knight who was with them knocked on the door.

The door opened and they were greeted by a cold stare that came from an old man who seemed to be the duke’s butler.

"You four go in," The knight said as he pushed them inside the room.

When they entered the room, Acantha noticed that the lady who was the cause of all of this trouble was already sitting there inside with a middle-aged man who was smoking.

"Is this them, Mari?" the man said as he blew the smoke out from his mouth.

"Yes, it was them, father." the woman said as she smirked at her especially.

The man put out his cigarette, stood up from where he was sitting and walked behind them like he was observing them very well.

"Why did you all humiliate my daughter?" The man said as he walked back and forth at their back, while the woman was still sitting in front of them cross-legged.

"We didn’t humiliate your daughter if that is your concern," Acantha said coldly as she was looking at the woman who grimaced and snorted at what she said.

"Liar," she said to her as she smirked when her father started walking again.

"Did you know that it was a crime to make fun of someone’s noble? And my daughter wasn’t just a noble; she was royalty," the duke said to them as he stopped walking in front of them and looked at them in the eyes.

Acantha clenches her face as she can smell his breath that reeks of cigarettes.
