Chapter 132: It’s Been A While...

Acantha glared at Gamon, who was also glaring at her.

"Now, if you don’t want to be locked in that thing forever, I would suggest you speak," Acantha said as she gave Gamon her coldest stare.

Gamon just glared at her and he even growled.

It seems like it was useless to talk to the demon that Abanoon had created. The demon just stared at her as if he was going to devour her anytime she let her guard down, but too bad for him, he was now bound to her.

But she can’t make him obey her. It seems like he was under some

Oh, she forgot...

Gamon was also bound by a taboo.

It seems like Abanoon had put some spell on him, stopping him from talking about anything.

If she knew what kind of taboo Abanoon put on him, she could release him from it.

Acantha sighed as she glared at him again and decided to put him back to where she sealed him.

-----------

Acantha was in the garden as she was thinking, where did Abanoon take all her artifacts that she had stolen from her?

Abanoon has the same thing as she had but those things are destroyed when she was castaway and stripped of her title as a goddess and her regret is when she didn’t do something about her power, as she still sees her as her sister.

If she had known that she would do these things to spite her, she should have gotten her core to stop her from doing what she did in the past and what she was doing now.

She looked at the necklace. This is the only thing that Abanoon owned.

She was the one who took it to her, as this is hers by birth.

But Abanoon took all of her artifacts when she forgot to put some seal on them, but she didn’t worry that she might defile them, as they have some own spell that they cannot be used for something bad.

"My Lady..." Acantha looked at Mildred, who she didn’t notice when she came, as her mind was busy wondering where her things were.

The only thing that was with her was her harp that she used to play to calm people, and whenever she is sad because of Abanoon.

"What was it, Mildred?" Acantha asked as she looked at her.

"The duke was looking for you," Mildred said to her, which made her frown.

Everyone in their duchy, even in the north, knew about him being alive, but her father chose not to let the others, even the emperor and Hernand, know that he was alive.

Acantha looked at the door and Mildred and walked out from the garden where she was trying to get some peace of mind.

Mildred guided her to the living room, and there she saw her father was having some snacks.

"You called me, Father?" Acantha said as she seated herself in the opposite chair where the duke was sitting.

The duke looked at her as he poured her some milk.

Yes, milk.

She only drank coffee whenever she was stressed.

"You need to change your dress, Aki," the duke said to her, which made her frown.

"Why would I need to change? Are we going somewhere?" Acantha asked as she looked at her father, who seemed to be enjoying eating some cakes, which was not normal, as she never saw him enjoying some desserts.

"So this is what it feels like when you don’t have any work to do?" The duke said instead of answering her.

Acantha felt something warm in her heart; she knew the story of the duke’s life.

He was born with some of his family trying to covet his position as an heir.

This is what others didn’t know, but when she healed him, she got to see some of his memories, including the memory when he was still young.

The duke might be strong now, but he was born fragile as he has some trouble with his mana.

Solaris was one of the houses that got the blessing from the dragon god, who was Dromonos’s father.

Dragon has some light powers, but unlike hers, it was not only light she could wield, but she could also give life, which Abanoon hated so much.

She hated that she could give life to anything and create life.

That’s why, when Abanoon killed people, she used her power to burn them in order for her not to resurrect that person she killed.

And that was the secret of her powers, that it was only her and the other goddesses who knew about it and Flamear, who had seen when she resurrected Dromonos when he was killed by some poison.

Acantha looked at the duke again as she sighed before she stood and walked away from the place to get dressed just like he said.

After she got dressed, Acantha saw that Fabian, Diego, and Zerth were also present there.

"Are we going to a war, Father?" Acantha asked. Why did the duke need to bring the three of them together?

"Maybe..." the duke said, which made her frown. Why did he even suggest her changing her clothes if they’re going to go to a war?

"Now, Now, we needed to go.. AKi." Her father saw that she was about to say something.

The duke was the one who teleported them using his own mana.

Her eyes went big when she saw where they were.

They were standing in front of the big door of the palace.

She had never been here since the day that the Empress insulted her.

It has been what? A month or more?

She forgot to count the days, but the place looked different from the last time she was here.

The doors and the windows are all closed.

"Is that Lady Acantha?" She heard someone from her back and there she saw some people who were there.

She frowned when she saw that they weren’t wearing the palace uniform. They must be people who were staying here in the palace as the soul sucker kept on lingering outside for the past weeks.

"Let’s greet them..." One of the women said, but her friend stopped her before she could even take a step.

"No, have you forgotten? The empress was the one who spread that she was a witch and was the one who brought the bad luck here in our empire," the woman said as she looked at her looking so scared.

Acantha gave her a cold stare, and the woman shrieked and pulled the others with her.

It seems like they still believed that she was the one who cursed this empire when, in fact, it was Abanoon herself who brought chaos here in the empire.

That must also be the reason why the man earlier this morning also called her like that; it was because the empress was the one who spread it to them.

Acantha sighed; people can really be gullible.

"Are you alright, Aki?" Her father asked her, as it seemed like he heard her sigh.

"I am fine," Acantha said and she also saw the concern from the three who were looking at him like they were also asking her if she really was fine.

"Then let’s go..." the duke said to her as he smiled and looked at her.

Acantha didn’t know why but she really was feeling nervous.

Not because of what people think of her.

But rather, she was nervous on seeing Helion again.

Helion, that was her Dromonos back then.

She shook her head to avoid thinking about him; maybe her father wasn’t here for him.

Acantha noticed that Zerth was holding some large pile of papers, which made her frown as to why she didn’t notice them before they arrived here.

They walked through the long way of the hallway; the path that they were taking was not familiar to her.

She tried looking around to see whether she could find something familiar but none.

Her father stopped in front of a big door and didn’t even knock as Fabian and Diego opened it for them.

She looked at the people inside and it seemed like these were the noble family in their empire and they were having some council meeting with the emperor.

She looked around the place and she sighed in relief when she didn’t see him there.

"Duke...." She saw everyone shocked when they saw the duke who was behind her.

The emperor even stopped what he was doing when he noticed his old friend, who he knew was supposed to be dead.

"It seems like you have some meeting here, and I am not invited," her father said as he looked around at the noble people who were still in shock at seeing him there.

-----

Helion looked at the people who were looking at him when the knights took those noblemen who were going to commit some treason against him and his family.

He was about to turned to Hernand when -

"Your highness..." Helion turned when Gineo entered the place, and it looked like he had something to say to her.

"Lady Acantha was here with His Grace the Duke," Gineo said, which made him stiffen.
