Chapter 116: Trembling In Fear....
Chapter 116: Trembling In Fear....
Acantha looked at the man in front of her, who looked surprised at what she offered.
"You must be kidding, my lady." The old man chuckled sadly; there was no hope to be seen in his eyes. "We tried everything to get this out from us; not even one magician who was once tried to help us removed it; he can’t do it." The old man said hopelessly.
"What do you mean that there’s some magician who tried to help you?" Acantha was curious about who the one was they were talking about.
"There was once a good magician from the Tower of Magic who lived in this empire, but he was killed due to opposing the emperor’s way of using and performing dark magic like it was nothing." The old man said as he sighed as he was telling her the story about the magician.
"But he was unfortunate to be killed by the emperor himself." Acantha saw the sadness in his eyes as he said those words.
"But I can help you." Acantha said as she looked at him.
"I can free all of you from this burden." Acantha said as he looked at him.
She didn’t wait for him to answer her as she put her hands against the shackle that was on his neck and broke it for him.
"I-I’m f-free? How did you do it?" The old man said as he looked shocked at what she did to him.
"Yes, you are." Acantha, said as she nodded at him.
"Ch---" Acantha turned around and saw that there were many people behind them who seemed to have heard him cry and looked for him.
"You’re free." Acantha saw them look at their chief village, especially on his neck, who was now freed from their necklace.
"How did that happen?" One of the resident asked while they were all holding their mouths in shock.
"She freed me." He said as he pointed at her and he looked very grateful for what she did. "She said she will free us all." He continued and she heard everyone gasp at what he said.
"C-can you really free us?" She looked at the man who was holding his daughter, who also has a smaller shackle on her neck.
Acantha just nodded as she showed them how by slapping her two fingers.
Everyone looked at their neck when the shackles were slowly disappearing from their neck.
"Now you can go to your family." Acantha said as she looked at everyone who were rejoicing in happiness.
"Won’t the emperor notice our shackles have been removed?" Acantha looked at the woman, who looked worried more than happy.
She knows that there are still some people who are worried about getting their shackles off.
"No, the emperor won’t." Acantha said as she looked at the woman who sighed in relief.
"The moment your shackles are removed, everyone’s memory of you being a prisoner here will be removed so that the emperor won’t know about it." Acantha said as she looked at everyone who looked surprised at what she said.
"Is that possible, my lady?" One of the men asked, as he looked like he was hoping for it.
"Yes, now, let’s use healing on everyone before you could meet your family, who has been waiting for you all." Acantha said before the house was engulf in light.
"My, my scar is healed."
"My wounds are healed."
"My cough is healed; I feel better now." Acantha heard them say as they all looked at each other while rejoicing.
Fabian and the others were also just looking at the people while they were jumping in happiness.
They had a feast that night and when the morning came, everyone was ready to go, and what was even better was that some of them had some horses with them that they lent to them.
Acantha was riding with the horse; they departed from the place while the others were riding on their own wagon.
The chief village already told them the directions to the capital, while the others were just behind them; some were just at their back.
They all stopped when the dawn came again, and they all ate the food that was left in her bag.
And when the morning came again, Acantha could already see the capital from afar.
It took them three days before they finally got to see a glimpse of the capital.
It was already afternoon when they finally arrived there; people who were with them already departed parts from them as they were going home to their families.
The capital looks different from the paths that they passed by; this place is huge, but there are so many people who were flocking everywhere.
Acantha also noticed that the moment they arrived there, the people were eyeing them from head to toe.
And that’s when she noticed that they were all wearing fancy clothes.
Only a few people who were wearing rags and baggy clothes were there, and they seemed to be more of a slave than a normal citizen here.
There weren’t any vendors on their street; instead, there were so many establishments lining the street.
"Look! My lady." Acantha looked at where Diego was pointing, and it seems like he was pointing at a place that looks like a hotel.
They walked to where that place is, and as the people’s eyes were following them, they said they don’t belong here.
When they entered, the place looked rich, like people who stayed there were only those people who were really rich.
"Can we get four rooms, please?" Acantha looked at Zerth as he went to where the front desk was, and the man who was there was frowning at them.
"Aren’t you lost?" The man asked Zerth, as he was now eyeing the latter from head to toe, just like those other people from the outside did to them.
"No, Why do you think I’m lost?" Zerth frowned at the man who seemed to be looking at someone.
And he called one of the women who seems to be also working on this place and whispered in her ear.
"Just wait for a moment." The man said to them without any hospitality.
Acantha and the others waited for how many minutes and the people didn’t even bother giving them some water.
"Do you need anything?" She turned around when she saw that there was a woman who was asking Zerth at the front desk, and she wasn’t even smiling, as if she was showing them that they are not happy to welcome them there.
"Can we get four rooms?" Zerth asked the woman again, who rolled her eyes at them.
"Are you sure?" The woman said as she looked at them, eyeing them one by one.
Acantha was getting pissed; if she was not really tired, and there are still some options here, but the people already said that there is only one place they can stay in the capital, but they seemed to forget that this place is for noble people.
"Yes, I am." Zerth answered coldly, as he seemed to sense that they don’t like them here.
The woman looked at them suspiciously as they gave them the bills, like they were trying to intimidate the four of them.
Acantha took something from her clothes when Favian handed the woman something, which made her gasp, and this time she smiled at them.

Meanwhile...
Helion and the others keep on fighting the monsters that keep on coming to their empire every day; it seems like Abanoon didn’t know when to give them some rest.
"Can’t these things rest for a while?" Abanoon looked at Ernie, who was fighting some smaller monsters.
While Jarnus was at his back, fighting the others with him.
The people who live in the capital had already evacuated as it was too dangerous for them. As far as he knows, every region and place has some barrier, especially those territories that were the duke’s allies.
It seems like it was only the capital that was targeted, knowing Abanoon was already here.
Helion dropped the monster when he finally killed it; he looked at his knights, who seems to be exhausted; it’s been a hell week for them, and it seems like people were trembling in fear every day.
His father even asked him if he had already gotten some news from the north and the Klartis seem like they vanished somewhere and seem like they didn’t exist anymore.
"Let’s go back to the palace." Helion said as they all teleported to the palace.
When they arrived, he saw his father, who was already waiting for him, while the others had already bid their goodbyes to take some rest for a while.
"It’s been several days." His father started and he knew that he was talking about the Klartis and Solaris again.
"There is still no news about where they were, Father." Helion, said he as he sighed in defeat.
He has been looking for any trace of where they are but there aren’t any clues.
The whole empire has also been in chaos and they have already lost so many lives.
He looked at them again as he sighed...
