Chapter 489: Chapter 489 Assassin vs Assassin
"Li Feng, come out here," someone cried.
"Li, if you’ve got the guts, face me in a duel. Today, it’s either you or me, not both! Century Group belongs to this young master, you shameless freeloader...!"
"Feng, President Bai."
"It seems like Chen Muyang is drunk and acting crazy, should we...?"
"Acting crazy?"
If it weren’t for the previous sixth sense of danger from being targeted, Li Feng would have believed it. But Chen Muyang showed up neither early nor late, precisely at this moment, cursing outside and challenging him to a face-off.
Bai He turned to look at Li Feng, "Feng, isn’t Chen Muyang trying to lure the snake out of the hole?"
Li Feng curled his lips up in a cold smirk, "Heh, whether he is or not, since he’s willingly jumped out, then all the better."
"Feng, you can’t go out there, they could have a sniper."
"I know."
Li Feng beckoned Bai He and whispered in his ear, then patted him on the shoulder, "Do as I said."
With a burst of speed, Li Feng charged out of the memorial hall, "Chen Muyang, you think you can duel me? Fine, I’ll indulge you."
Li Feng moved so fast it was almost instantaneous, charging up to Chen Muyang, and with a hug, he performed a bear hug takedown.
Thud.
Li Feng and Chen Muyang both fell to the ground. Bai He, watching Li Feng struggling with Chen Muyang, immediately issued orders into the walkie-talkie.
"Everyone, get over here, surround them."
Following Bai He’s command, the black-suited bodyguards flocked over, seemingly ready to break up the fight, but they were held back and quickly dispersed, encircling and watching the two men grapple together on the ground.
"F*ck, where is this infrared light coming from?"
"Is there someone else?"
The man with brown hair instantly twisted his body to look toward the source of the light. Due to the trees blocking the view, he couldn’t see anyone, but he had no doubt about the red light. It seemed there were others playing the same game as them.
"Eiffel, how many groups did the top brass send out here?"
The man with brown hair furrowed his brow, "You stay put; I’ll go check it out." With that, he crouched and vanished into the forest.
Damn it.
The blonde cursed, lowering the finger resting on the trigger. With the situation unclear, it was clearly not wise to shoot.
On a protruding rock, an assassin was perched with a rifle, its scope trained on the square below.
He was Zero Organization’s strongest assassin, codenamed Zero.
Zero looked at the fight outside the memorial hall through his scope, seeking the best shooting angle and opportunity. But the two men, tangled in a brawl and rolling around, made it impossible for him to pull the trigger.
There was only one chance.
Zero breathed slowly, waiting for the best moment to shoot. For him, it was nothing new; he had lain in a spot for a day and a night just to take down a target.
The skirmish between the two would eventually break up. He only needed a split second of an opening to kill the target that had caused heavy losses to Zero Organization.
The seconds on the stopwatch kept moving, and Zero remained as still as a statue. Just then, a figure appeared not too far away.
Click.
There was a faint snapping of a twig. Although it was a minor noise, Zero heard it and instantly dropped the rifle, pulling out a dagger and turning to face his rear.
Zero reacted quickly, but so did Eiffel with brown hair, whose response was just as swift. Knowing he had made noise, Eiffel instantly threw his dagger.
Clang.
Zero swung his dagger and deflected the incoming one, and in the next moment, Eiffel had pulled out another dagger already appearing in front of Zero.
Zero saw his opponent clearly, a brown-haired foreigner. Zero didn’t have time to ponder who the other was as they immediately exchanged blows.
Eiffel looked at Zero, likely a hitman from Yan Country, and their target seemed to be his as well; the target appeared to be in great demand.
Although their goal was the same, Eiffel had no intention of cooperating. After all, they weren’t from the same side, especially now that the other had discovered him, leaving no room to spare a living witness.
It would actually be convenient to use him as a scapegoat.
Zero cursed inwardly. Was this guy some kind of bodyguard hired by the other side, hiding here? How afraid of death could they be?
Zero had no intention of communicating; the other’s attacks were lethal, clearly after his life. There was no room for compromise; he had to fight back with all he had.
Clang.
Suddenly, Eiffel knocked the dagger from Zero’s hand, a smirk tugging at his lips as he thrust another dagger toward Zero like a wolf’s fang. Zero dodged just enough for the blade to plunge into his shoulder.
Eiffel snorted coldly. These people had such poor physical conditioning; they were no match for him.
But Zero curled his lip, seized Eiffel’s wrist, and a blade, thin as a cicada’s wing, flashed between his fingers, slicing across Eiffel’s throat.
Eiffel froze, hand clamping on his neck as blood gushed out. Zero watched the brown-haired foreigner collapse with a thud, then clutched his pierced shoulder, inhaling sharply.
The other’s dagger was a military-grade one, hooked on the reverse and grooved for rapid blood loss. Although Zero had managed to kill his assailant, the wound was severe.
"Damn it."
Zero swore loudly, now injured and unable to aim at Li Feng. The mission had failed.
Though disheartened, Zero still turned to grab his rifle and prepared to leave. However, as he turned, he saw a figure.
But before he could react, a flash of cold light pierced his throat, and Zero fell to the ground with a thud.
Li Feng, hiding behind the tree, stepped out, approaching where the two men lay dead, checking their bodies.
Two groups.
Li Feng eyed Zero – an assassin from Yan Country. The brown-haired man must be from around Central Island – brown hair, white skin; the calluses on his hands suggested he might be a hitman from another country.
Li Feng hadn’t anticipated being such a hot commodity, with two groups after him in one night.
This face must be a hitman hired by Chen Muyang. Ever since the Chen Family had been blackmailed by Li Feng, they had suddenly turned docile, not daring to stir trouble. Without the Chen Family’s protest, Muyang’s confidence had significantly diminished.
Muyang’s public challenge outside the memorial hall must have been to create an opportunity for the assassin.
Muyang didn’t even bother to be discreet, willing to serve as bait himself.
Little did he know his hired assassin would collide with another group, Li Feng checked the foreign assassin’s equipment; the man seemed to be not alone.
