Chapter 488: Chapter 488 Smuggled Passengers

Off the coast of Sea City, a deep-sea cargo ship.

"Two passengers, this is the final stop. Get ready to disembark."

The captain informed the two stowaways in the cabin, who came up to the deck and gazed at the brightly lit city in the distance.

"So this is Sea City, indeed it’s beautiful."

"The boat coming to pick you up has already arrived, but you’ll have to swim over there yourselves," the captain said, pointing to a fishing boat not far from his ship. His vessel was a tens of thousands of tons ocean freighter, naturally, it couldn’t just stop anywhere.

"Hey, Sea City, here we come."

One of the stowaways took a running leap over the ship’s rail and, like a diver, plunged headfirst into the sea. The other stowaway shook his head.

"What a hassle. Why do we have to sneak into the country like this? Wouldn’t flying be easier?"

Muttering complaints, the stowaway approached the railing, braced his hands on it, and somersaulted into the ocean. Moments later, after swimming a few hundred meters, they climbed aboard the waiting fishing boat.

The fishing boat immediately headed towards land but didn’t dock at any port. Instead, it stopped in a desolate area without any people around.

"Here are the tools you’ll need, the route, a photo of the target, and a temporary mobile phone. It has one number saved in it. After you complete the mission, call that number, and someone will arrange your departure."

The people on the fishing boat took out two cloth bags and tossed them in front of the stowaways, who promptly opened the bags to inspect their contents.

The blond stowaway pulled out the "tool" from the bag and blew a Whistle, "Tsk, to use this kind of stuff, even if the Power is a bit weak, it’s still not bad. I thought we’d have to use Daggers to kill people."

"On the shore, there’s a car you can use. Now you can get off the boat."

The brown-haired stowaway checked the items in the bag and, feeling satisfied, retied it closed, "Looks like we’re in for another swim."

"I hate this sneaking around."

While saying so, the blond grabbed his bag. Despite their objections, both men leapt from the fishing boat and once they were seen swimming away, the boat set off towards the open sea.

Little Hill Cemetery.

It was the third day of Chen Qinian’s funeral vigil.

Li Feng stepped out of the mortuary hall for a smoke when suddenly, he caught a red dot in the corner of his eye. His pupils instinctively swept in the direction from where the red spot had originated.

The red glow vanished as quickly as it appeared, but Li Feng sensed a flicker of danger. His hand loosened, dropping the cigarette, and his body bent over to allow the railing to Shield his vitals.

A sniper?

Li Feng wasn’t sure, but the glimpse of the red dot triggered a strong intuitive alarm within him, similar to the sensation of being targeted on the battlefield.

However, this was not a battlefield; this was Yan Country, a place with strict gun control laws. Even pistols were rarely seen here, let alone long-range sniper rifles.

Difficult, but not impossible to obtain.

Previously, at the golf resort in Wohuling, Li Feng had taken down a Gateful of Disciples from The Red House, a powerful organization in Yan Country. Considering that they had gone underground for two days, it wasn’t characteristic of The Red House’s modus operandi.

Li Feng didn’t want to take any chances and end up with a Blasted head. He immediately called for Bai He, who hurried over and found Li Feng bending to pick something up, "Young Master Feng, did you drop something? I’ll help you look."

Li Feng looked at Bai He, "I might be in a sniper’s crosshairs."

Ah!

Bai He was momentarily Shocked, then his expression turned icy, "Damn, whoever dares to mess with guns in Yan Country, they’ve got some nerve. Young Master Feng, I’ll organize a search of the area immediately."

"No."

Li Feng stopped Bai He’s actions, "The sniper’s target is likely me. Let’s not involve everyone else. Besides, guns are banned in Yan Country, so the sniper will have only one chance. They won’t fire rashly."

"You mean you’ll have to take a risk."

Bai He, an ex-Military man, understood what Li Feng meant, and without any hesitation, he said, "You’re right, Young Master Feng. The sniper won’t recklessly take that one shot. After all, firing would expose them, and this is Yan Country."

With that, Bai He stood up and Li Feng smoothly rose to his feet, pretending to chat as they walked to the side.

The two men appeared casual, but they were tense, every step feeling like a walk on the edge of Life and death until they entered the mortuary hall, Bai He’s forehead covered in sweat.

"Young Master Feng, if there’s a sniper, they must be on the opposite hill."

Bai He wiped his forehead and turned to Li Feng. He didn’t for a second doubt that Li Feng was crying wolf. Bai He knew some of Li Feng’s background, that he had truly seen combat. A war veteran has a strong sixth sense for danger, and now with Li Feng’s word, Bai He too felt as if his temple was being watched.

There really could be a sniper.

"I’ll send men to scout it out."

Bai He gritted his teeth, "Damn them for stirring up trouble under our noses."

"No, the sniper has a weapon, and they won’t only have long ones; they’ll surely have short ones too. We’ve only got a police baton. If we startle the snake in the grass and the sniper loses all caution, we could suffer heavy losses."

"Don’t alarm everyone. Since I’m the target, if I stay out of sight, they won’t fire at random. I’ll go and see who has the nerve."

"Young Master Feng, alone? Or maybe..."

Bai He seemed eager, but Li Feng shook his head in refusal, "They can’t have more than two people. I can handle them alone. Plus, it’s harder for one person to get detected. Stay here on the off chance they make a move."

Li Feng patted Bai He on the shoulder, "That settles it."

"Do you think that guy has spotted us?"

The blonde, whose finger was already hooked around the trigger, turned to the spotter next to him, who was frowning through the night vision scope.

"Based on the intelligence, he’s just an ordinary guy. Maybe it was just a coincidence."

The two had thoroughly reviewed their target’s file on the way over, not just from their employer but also from the Dark Web.

The reliability of Dark Web intelligence was well-known.

The blonde shrugged at the response, "Yeah, maybe. Guns are banned in this country, after all."

"Besides, he’s just a pretty boy who got lucky."

Remembering the contents of the file, this guy had apparently climbed to the top of a corporation with assets worth over a thousand billion Federation Coins, all thanks to a woman.

It was enough to make anyone green with envy.

The guy really did have dumb luck, just like just now. He was about to shoot, and the guy’s cigarette dropped.

Almost, he had been a trigger pull away from sending the guy to meet God.

"Alright, he can’t stay in the mortuary hall all night. He’ll have to come out again. Seize the chance, and finish it with one shot."

"You don’t need to tell me that."

"There’s movement."
