Chapter 196: Chapter 196: Private Bar

Tong Qian wrapped her arm around Li Feng’s as they walked out of the conference room, dragging him into the elevator without avoiding the glances of their colleagues.

"You don’t want to be a star anymore?"

"Pfft, being a star doesn’t mean I have to be the Holy Daughter, am I not allowed to date?"

Tong Qian turned to face Li Feng, "I’m just afraid you don’t have the guts."

"Did I just see things?"

"What’s going on with Tong Qian and that freeloader? They seem very close."

The workers in the office area were once again immersed in gossip. Li Feng’s ambiguous situation with Jiang Linda had just spread when another major piece of gossip descended, like launching a satellite.

"Who took pictures just now?"

"We were all too stunned to do it in time."

"Doesn’t the company have surveillance cameras?"

The female employees lit up at that idea when Jiang Linda walked out, "Don’t any of you have work to do, always gossiping around. Do you still want your jobs?"

Li Feng was unaware that the office area was boiling over with excitement as he and Tong Qian arrived at the underground garage and got into her car.

"Buckle up."

"Where are you planning to take me?"

"You’ll see."

Tong Qian played coy as she started the car and left the underground garage.

"Can someone tell me what’s going on here?"

A furious voice came from up high, the dim environment obscuring the face of the person sitting above, but their authoritative tone alone was enough to instill fear.

"Hai, Mr. Baili, I truly didn’t know about this."

"You didn’t know?"

"Goods worth billions vanished, and you tell me you didn’t know!" Mr. Baili laughed coldly.

"Since you don’t know anything, you don’t need to know anymore."

"Mr. Baili, spare my life, please, Mr. Baili, it’s all because of Yuan Hua, he betrayed us."

"Make him shut up."

"Yes, Mr. Baili."

A sharply dressed young man stepped forward, grabbed the other man’s neck, and snapped it in an instant, bringing silence to the world. The underlings quickly dragged the body away.

"Mr. Baili, we got a tip from our police informant. The police received a phone call yesterday, and the caller claimed to be Yuan Hua."

"Oh? And what did he say?"

"He recorded it. This is the audio from the emergency call."

The recording was played immediately.

Hearing the recording, Mr. Baili smashed his cane down forcefully, "That Yuan Hua is quite something."

"Mr. Baili, there’s something strange about this."

"Hmm?"

"Speak."

Mr. Baili turned to look at the subordinate who nodded, "Mr. Baili, Yuan Hua is no more than one of your dogs, watching over Huayun for you. Even if he was given the guts, he wouldn’t dare play with your business."

"After all, you know better than anyone what kind of an item Yuan Hua is. I suspect there’s more to this call."

"Hmm?"

"Mr. Baili, please sit up and listen to me, there’s something odd about this."

"Yes, tell me there’s something odd."

"We’ve run this operation many times without ever having an issue, and it’s only been a few days since Mr. Baili clashed with that person. Could it be..."

"This move is like hitting a snake at its deadliest part, and it’s extremely vicious."

"The loss of billions could hurt even Mr. Baili."

The subordinate didn’t spell it out, but every word suggested this could be an inside job. Could it have been that Huo family member?

Baili Hai leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers on the armrest.

"Have someone keep an eye on that guy for me. I want to know everything he does, everyone he meets."

"Yes, Mr. Baili!"

"Mr. Baili."

"What is this place?"

"It’s a private bar owned by a friend of mine. It’s not open to the public, only a select few know of it, and it only serves acquaintances."

Tong Qian pulled Li Feng into the bar, which lacked even a sign. Without knowing about it, it was hard to find. Going down the stairs to the bar, they entered a very quiet underground establishment.

"No one’s around?"

Li Feng glanced at the empty bar with no bartender in sight when Tong Qian chuckled, "Of course, there’s no one. It’s a private bar, so it’s self-service. No waiters, no bartenders. If you want a drink, you make it yourself."

"I actually learned mixology though, so tonight, I’ll be at your service."

"Just give me a moment, I’ll be right back."

Tong Qian smiled radiantly and turned to walk through a door behind the bar, while Li Feng looked around.

The bar’s lighting was dim, creating an enigmatic atmosphere. The space was small but divided into intimate nooks, with only soothing music floating through the air, fostering a sense of privacy.

The bar at the back, however, was grand, occupying a whole wall and stocked with all brands of alcohol.

This secretive bar was indeed private; but why had Tong Qian brought him here? Could it be that there was more to it than just showing gratitude?

While Li Feng was pondering, Tong Qian came back out and stood inside the bar, "Sir, what would you like to drink?"

Li Feng looked at Tong Qian and swallowed hard.
