Urban's Fury: The War Dragon God
Chapter 171: The Bet

Chapter 171: Chapter 171: The Bet

"What are you doing?"

Jin’er had heard about this from Su Yuqing. She had been worrying about how to help Li Feng, but, in a surprising turn of events, Li Feng had even made the chairman of Hua Yun Group cower and cling to him begging for mercy.

Clearly, this case had inexplicably reached a conclusion, although the outcome was somewhat unbelievable.

Now it was Zhou Jie who had to leave, and Jin’er knew Zhou Jie’s status at Myth Communication. He was not only a partner at Myth Communication but also had significant strength and connections.

Besides the business obtained from the Wang Family’s affiliated companies, most of Myth Communication’s remaining business had something to do with Zhou Jie. If Zhou Jie left, Myth Communication would truly become a joke.

"Mr. Zhou, what happened before was just a joke. Li Feng wasn’t targeting you, let’s leave this matter here."

Jin’er wanted to play peacemaker.

However, Li Feng had no intention of letting Zhou Jie off. He believed in the saying ’a snake that isn’t killed will bite back.’ Although he hadn’t interacted much with Zhou Jie, Zhou Jie had always been on the opposing side, and Li Feng’s principle was that if someone is an enemy, they should be crushed.

Only a dead enemy is a good enemy.

"Mr. Zhou, you can’t handle losing, can you?" Li Feng taunted as he looked at Zhou Jie. Li Feng didn’t say much more, but that one sentence was enough. If Zhou Jie was any sort of man, he couldn’t possibly continue to stay at Myth Communication.

Of course, unless he had skin thicker than city walls, in which case, Li Feng would have to respect him a bit more.

"I can’t handle losing?"

Zhou Jie, provoked by Li Feng’s words, furiously threw his hands up, "I don’t need you to tell me to leave. I can still attract a bunch of people after leaving Myth Communication. Li, don’t think you’ve won this time."

"Hmph!"

Zhou Jie angrily turned and left.

"Boss."

Jin’er turned around with annoyance and addressed Li Feng, "Come into the office with me."

Li Feng was directly pulled by Jin’er into the CEO’s office, where she slammed the door shut. Jin’er then looked accusingly at Li Feng.

"What exactly are you trying to do? Do you realize that Zhou Jie is a senior partner in our company? By pushing him out, you’ve cut off half of the company’s business."

"And also, with his departure, at least a large number of staff will leave. How is the company supposed to operate then?"

"You’re still smiling."

Li Feng looked at the furious Jin’er with a smile, "You’re finally showing some CEO-like qualities."

Listening to Li Feng’s words, which seemed like both a compliment and a taunt, Jin’er swung her fists in embarrassment and indignation.

"I am already one, and you must bring Zhou Jie back, or else I won’t let this go," Jin’er ultimatumed.

Li Feng, with a sudden move, cornered Jin’er against the wall.

"I just said you were showing some CEO-like demeanor, and then you say something this childish. A company should be able to operate without anyone. If you entrust the fate of the company to one person, whom you do not even fully understand, it only shows one thing."

"You’re an incompetent CEO."

Jin’er’s eyes widened as she stared at Li Feng, clearly not expecting him to speak to her in such a manner. The aggrieved Jin’er bit her lip.

"Li Feng, what right do you have to say that to me? I know I don’t understand many things, but I am learning. Zhou Jie is a renowned senior in public relations, and by driving him away, who else in the company can hold things up?"

"Relying only on business from the Wang companies, the company won’t starve, but is that how you plan to explain things to my father?"

Li Feng smirked, "I can take your words as looking down on me, right?"

Jin’er pouted, "I didn’t say that."

"Then let’s make a bet."

"What kind of bet?"

Wang Jin’er looked at Li Feng.

Li Feng smiled lightly at Wang Jin’er and said directly, "Let Zhou Jie go, and don’t stop anyone else who wants to leave the company."

Wang Jin’er immediately frowned.

Li Feng continued, "Give me one month, and I’ll make you a hundred million. If I accomplish that," Li Feng smirked mischievously and whispered in Wang Jin’er’s ear.

Wang Jin’er’s face instantly flushed a deep red, and she fiercely glared at Li Feng from the corner of her eye.

"Don’t be in a hurry to refuse. If I fail, I’ll abandon the struggle and be your live-in husband. You say one, I won’t say two. If you tell me to chase chickens, I won’t pursue dogs. Even if you ask me to leave everything behind, I’ll turn around and get lost immediately."

Listening to Li Feng’s bet, Wang Jin’er also felt a bit apprehensive. Am I really such a domineering person?

"Fine, but these are your words."

Wang Jin’er didn’t refuse. "Now get up, and let’s sign a contract first, lay it out in black and white."

Wang Jin’er thought this was necessary. From the few times she’d dealt with Li Feng, it seemed like every time she encountered him, he stirred up trouble, totally different from the good family man described in the information gathered by that private detective.

That private detective definitely took the money and didn’t do the work.

Moments later, a gambling contract was produced, in duplicate, signed and stamped.

"It’s done. Don’t you play tricks when the time comes."

Wang Jin’er looked at Li Feng and chuckled, "I should be the one saying that line. You better not play dumb."

Ding ding ding.

Just as their eyes locked, the secretary, Su Yuqing, hurriedly knocked and pushed open the door. "President, something has happened."

"What’s wrong?"

Su Yuqing glanced at Li Feng and the president standing in front of the desk. Luckily, she hadn’t seen anything too shocking and took a breather.

"President, a lot of people have gone to HR to submit their resignation letters. At least a third of them are packing up to leave. What should we do?"

Upon hearing Su Yuqing’s report, Wang Jin’er’s face showed a hint of anxiousness, and she immediately wanted to go out and retain them. Li Feng grabbed Wang Jin’er’s arm.

"We just signed the gambling contract. You’re not thinking of tearing it up already, are you?" Li Feng said with a smile.

Wang Jin’er was stunned for a moment, then she remembered the first clause of the contract, which was to not interfere with the company’s resignations. With Zhou Jie leaving, a bunch of people would follow him; she had foreseen this, otherwise why would she have bothered to retain Zhou Jie.

It was only because she was new on the job, had no authority in the company, and had to rely heavily on him.

Su Yuqing, unaware of the gambling contract, looked urgently, "President, if we don’t stop them, people will really leave. And if one third leaves today, more will leave tomorrow and Postnatal."

Su Yuqing was the assistant arranged by the Wang Family for Wang Jin’er. It didn’t matter if Wang Jin’er performed poorly as president, but if Su Yuqing failed in her duties, she would lose this rare opportunity and it would be difficult for her to advance later.

"Let them go then. Why stop them?"

Li Feng spoke nonchalantly.

Su Yuqing looked up at Li Feng, "Easy for you to say. If people leave, can the company still operate, with just you?"

As if you’re Superman, Su Yuqing thought but didn’t say, considering he had a special relationship with the president; what was he otherwise?

People say beauty brings disaster; this man was just a curse.

"Am I not reliable, then? Is it because my shoulders aren’t broad enough, or because I’m not handsome enough?"

"Boss, are you really resigning?"

Zhou Jie hummed, "Do you think I could stay any longer? There are plenty of places for a man like me if this one doesn’t value me. Myth Communication is not even a major player in the industry. If it weren’t for the backing of the Wang Group, it would be nothing."

"With my talents, finding another job is easy. I just want to see how long Myth Communication can strut around."
