Chapter 154: Chapter 143: Very Abnormal
In the lead, Nun Berserker cleared the path and provided cover, while Gao Yi was just responsible for wielding precision-guided hand grenades, wildly bombarding everything in sight.
When hand grenades become known as precision-guided, that’s in the hands of Gao Yi.
I swear to God, Gao Yi had never even touched a hand grenade before, but now, he felt that tossing these eight-ounce grenades was truly comfortable.
Not too light, not too heavy, not too big or too small, far easier to throw than chopsticks or dinner knives.
It was the blast timing of the hand grenades that gave Gao Yi a big scare.
Why did they explode just as they hit the Bodyguard’s head? That’s just too fast of a detonation.
But the effect, well, it was surprisingly good.
55, with dual guns in hand, approached the clinic’s main entrance. Gao Yi pulled the pin of a grenade, ready to throw it at any moment, but his throwing was different from others—he aimed to hit people directly.
His throws were extremely accurate and fast.
Strange, why hadn’t he thought of using such fitting and practical things like hand grenades before? But it’s not that odd, since when do Assassins use hand grenades?
Screams of sheer terror could already be heard coming from inside the clinic.
Fesari wanted to capture Gao Yi, while Gao Yi wanted to put Fesari to death.
Fesari offered a hefty sum to gather a large group of people, in Dammam City which actually had very stable and good public security, laying down a tight trap, just waiting for Gao Yi to show up.
Sponsored by heavy funding from others, Gao Yi had no plan whatsoever. He just did a random reconnaissance, fired a couple of shots to lure the tiger away from the mountain, and when he found that Fesari had few people around, he simply took a shot to test the waters, and somehow, he was closing in on success.
Sometimes, this world really doesn’t make any sense.
didn’t have a Bullet-Proof Vest, but she didn’t care about that; after all, Gao Yi had said they were going to kill Fesari, so she was ready to go for it.
So Gao Yi was feeling very tired. He thought that he still had to divide his attention to command during the battle, as his subordinates were not smart enough.
"Stop!"
stopped. She didn’t rush through the shattered glass door.
Gao Yi swung four hand grenades one after another through the glass door, not seeing anyone, but guessing where people might be and throwing several there was probably good enough.
Grabbing another hand grenade, he loosened the pin, and as soon as Gao Yi said "charge," 55 instantly surged forward.
Bullets snapped past, but 55, like an idiot to such deadly things, didn’t care at all; she actually continued to charge into the hail of bullets.
Gao Yi could only toss over a hand grenade, and when it landed and exploded in the middle of a crowd, several short screams immediately echoed from the clinic.
Dumbfounded, Gao Yi was stunned by his own actions, while Fesari’s Bodyguards were left confounded by the onslaught.
This was not a siege, definitely not the hardest indoor battle on the battlefield, and certainly not an assault on a sturdy fortress or bastion.
This was simply two Assassins launching a peculiar assassination against a few Bodyguards.
No matter whether the weapons were hand grenades, hammers, or any other assorted messy armaments, an Assassin is an Assassin, and a Bodyguard is a Bodyguard, so it was still an assassination—just an abnormal one at most.
In the clinic, bodies were scattered everywhere, several fallen. 55 entered the clinic, raising her gun to shoot. Now it was pistol versus pistol. Fesari’s personal Bodyguards were very dedicated, shielding Fesari with their own bodies, but they lacked rifles or submachine guns.
Gao Yi still had a grenade with its pin pulled in his hand, but he didn’t rush to throw it because after two shots from 55’s right hand, two Bodyguards fell with bullet-ridden heads. As a Bodyguard brought down by grenade shrapnel tried to raise his pistol, 55 swiftly swung her left hand, a shot rang, and the man died, slick work.
Fesari was left exposed, alone.
Dumbstruck, completely bewildered, as if in a dream, Fesari couldn’t have imagined such a bizarre nightmare.
Gao Yi walked towards Fesari. Beside him, a Bodyguard looked up and opened fire; 55 effortlessly fired a shot, turning the injured Bodyguard into a dead one.
Fesari didn’t know how to struggle; he didn’t retreat, didn’t shout, just stood there dumbly watching Gao Yi, his wide eyes lacking even fear, only stumped bewilderment remained.
"Heard you were looking for me?"
Gao Yi stood in front of Fesari, his right hand busy with the hand grenade, but his left hand rose effortlessly, and he slapped down with a smooth motion.
Fesari’s face was still swollen, and as Gao Yi’s slap struck him, his head jerked, his mouth gaped, and the temporary dentures he had just fitted popped out with a spit.
Knocked back two steps by the blow, Fesari’s toothless mouth puckered, and two streaks of tears swiftly flowed down.
"You put up two hundred million dollars for my head?"
Gao Yi raised his left arm again and slapped another blow, sending Fesari tumbling to the ground.
The confusion in his eyes dissipated, and coming to grips with reality after being slapped twice more, Fesari finally broke down crying.
55, expressionless, made sure to shoot each person on the ground in the head, even if they already had a bullet wound and looked dead, she didn’t hesitate to shoot again.
Gao Yi stepped on Fesari, his voice grave, "Go on the Dark Web, cancel the bounty on me."
Fesari opened his toothless mouth, crying, "I’m dead, I’m dead..."
"I’m telling you to cancel the bounty on me!"
Fesari’s eyes were unfocused; he merely cried out in a vague and wheezy voice, "I’m dead..."
"No, no, you’re not dead yet, pull yourself together, wake up!"
Fesari’s gaze was still unfocused; all he knew was to cry out loudly, "I’m dead... "
"I... "
Gao Yi looked at 55 with pleading eyes, but 55 remained expressionless, raised the gun, and fired a shot at Fesari’s thigh.
A gunshot rang out, and Fesari, whose brain had crashed, felt a surge of pain, which sobered him up considerably. He then switched from crying to shouting loudly in pain.
"Ah!"
Fesari, clutching his thigh, began to howl. Gao Yi pressed his foot onto Fesari’s chest and said harshly, "Stop shouting, pull out your phone, cancel my bounty, and I’ll let you go!"
At that moment Fesari actually wised up, crying out, "You won’t let me go! I won’t let you off if I die!"
Fesari was truly alert now.
Looking at Gao Yi with fearful yet desperate eyes, Fesari shouted, "I had the CIA put out the bounty; you can kill me, but you’re done for too, you’re finished. But how could you kill me, how could I die?"
This was trouble. If Fesari’s two hundred million dollar bounty wasn’t lifted, even if Gao Yi killed Fesari right here, he’d still be doomed to be hunted endlessly.
Tasks on the Dark Web were prepaid, so even if Fesari died, the bounty would still exist, and the task could continue.
Could it be that the biggest advantage now was that Fesari’s task required a living capture?
And having to deliver the captive directly to Fesari for the task to end, so if Fesari died, the mission couldn’t be completed?
If this was a BUG, could they exploit this glitch to make the task unfinishable?
Gao Yi was still thinking, but 55 raised his hand and shot Fesari’s right leg.
A gunshot sounded, and Fesari’s howl was cut short once again.
said coldly, "Idiot, we don’t have to kill you, we can take you and torture you slowly!"
When these words came out, both Gao Yi and Fesari fell silent.
Then Gao Yi exhaled and said, "Right, you’re finished. You’ll have a hard time even dying!"
Fesari’s gaze went vacant once again, as he was no stranger to torture, being all too familiar with how to inflict pain, having not only witnessed it but also having tried it firsthand.
"I’ll cancel the bounty!"
Fesari was twisted and brutal, but he wasn’t a fool, he was experienced, especially in torturing people. He had interest in it, so he might fear death, but he definitely feared torture more.
Trembling, Fesari took out his phone from his pocket. He opened it with a look of despair and helplessness, logged into the Dark Web, and chose to cancel the task.
Task cancellations needed to be confirmed by the person responsible, so to save time, Fesari directly called a video call and said with a shaking voice, "I want to cancel the task, cancel the bounty for the Sky Garden task."
"Okay, but our processing fee won’t be refunded."
Fesari said in a slurred voice, "Cancel, cancel it, cancel it now!"
"Are you experiencing any problems? We can provide a comprehensive solution to your predicament."
The Dark Web actually took the rare initiative to promote their services.
Fesari didn’t say much, instead, he just turned his phone around, giving it a spin to let the Dark Web operator see the scene.
The phone didn’t face Gao Yi and 55, but they saw the foot pressing on Fesari’s chest and the corpses scattered around him.
The person from the Dark Web had nothing to say, and the one on the video sighed and started the cancellation process.
The client was already pinned down, what solutions were there to speak of? They might as well cancel the task and refund the money quickly, instead of watching their client’s head get blown off.
In a brief moment, the person from the Dark Web spoke softly, "The task is canceled, I just want to say... good luck."
Fesari said to Gao Yi, "It’s canceled. Can we... Can we make peace? I’ll give you all the bounty, okay? Let the Dark Web transfer the Bitcoins to you, alright?"
The person on the phone said, "That’s a good suggestion. Even though we take a neutral stance, we can offer our guarantee..."
Gao Yi stayed quiet, not wanting his voice to be heard, and he knew what the Dark Web person wanted to say, which was that the Dark Web provides a guarantee, shake hands, make peace, and let Fesari off the hook.
Gao Yi just pointed at Fesari’s head, and 55 raised his hand and fired.
After the gunshot, Fesari’s head exploded.
The Dark Web operator paused and then said softly, "Uh, that was blunt. Well, since the employer is dead, then... goodbye."
The call ended.
It ended quickly, but the outcome was better than expected, mainly because Gao Yi never thought he could get close to Fesari, let alone capture him alive.
Gao Yi said over the walkie-talkie, "The operation is over, the target is down, we’re leaving. Can you two provide cover? Over."
No one responded. After a moment, Feng Biao’s voice came through Gao Yi’s earpiece.
"What did you say? The target is down? Are you kidding me, damn it, enough is enough, right? Bug off!"
Gao Yi curled his lip.
Well, not being believed was normal, after all, he himself hadn’t expected this outcome.
Just then, Lin Xianghua’s urgent and weak voice came through.
"Boss, we can’t come to your aid anymore, a lot of people are after us, we’re probably done for. Find a chance and run yourself, over."
Lin Xianghua and Feng Biao were entangled, and the situation was bad.
Gao Yi didn’t think much, and said very seriously, "Then I’ll come to your aid, hold on, I’m coming!"
