Chapter 155: Chapter 144: Hasty

Holding a hand grenade with the pin already pulled was no longer useful, but the pin had been thrown away to who knows where, and clutching it in his hand was clearly not a solution.

But he didn’t know how Lin Xianghua and Feng Biao were doing; however, one thing was certain—they had drawn the majority of the ambushers to them, so now they were being chased miserably.

This mission was truly a mess.

"Get in the car."

Gao Yi rushed towards his car, while a long line of vehicles parked roadside had drivers in them, but these people were definitely not bodyguards or guards, as they had not taken any action throughout.

The first thing he did when he stepped outside was to throw the hand grenade to the roadside, waited for it to explode with a boom, then he pointed at those cars, sweeping his gaze back and forth with a dominating air, fiercely intimidating those drivers who had not acted.

Whether he looked like an assassin now was unknown, but at this moment, Gao Yi resembled a ruthless bandit.

Both men got back into their car, Gao Yi started the engine, then shouted into the walkie-talkie, "Report your positions, where are you!"

"Where are we?"

Lin Xianghua asked Feng Biao anxiously.

Feng Biao shouted angrily, "How would I know this place! It’s my first time in this city, and there was only so much scouting done in advance. Now we’re running for our lives. How the hell would I know our position!"

Normal people are easy-going with the wind, strong against it.

But Feng Biao was different, he was tough against the wind, weak with it, the kind who profusely panders to others.

Since it was all doomed, why continue flattering? Alienated and used as cannon fodder, there was no room for politeness left.

Truth was, they didn’t know where they had run to, nor did he believe the boss would come to rescue, so Feng Biao felt utterly desperate. Having lost all hope, he needed at least to curse for some satisfaction.

Lin Xianghua was extremely dissatisfied with Feng Biao’s attitude, but he had no other option.

Regardless, both of them were in the same boat.

The only good news was that, although the pursuers behind them were shooting, they were targeting the car wheels and sometimes the front of the car, but with no strong desire to launch a serious attack.

The main trouble was the large number of vehicles following them, and Lin Xianghua wouldn’t treat them politely; any car that approached, regardless if they wanted to crash into him or intercept, he would shoot directly. Thus, after several collisions, although it looked dangerous, they had not been directly captured.

This was the advantage of a reward of two hundred million for their capture alive; if it hadn’t mattered whether they were dead or alive, then they might not know how many times they could have died by now.

On the narrow road ahead appeared two more cars rushing towards Lin Xianghua. Instead of retreating, he accelerated forward to ram them.

Had it been earlier, the oncoming car would have yielded, since crashing head-on at speeds of seventy to eighty kilometers per hour could be fatal. But this time, the two vehicles coming to block the road showed no intention of swerving.

They had been driven into a true dead end, literally trapped, with houses on both sides, a long line of pursuers behind, and an interception ahead. Everything was planned strategically, pushing them onto this road and then using vehicles to completely block it off.

When the vehicles blocking the road suddenly stopped, two people quickly fled from their cars. They had positioned their vehicles very precisely in an A-shape with their fronts together, not a V shape with their rears together.

"They’re determined to capture us alive..."

Feng Biao pressed his body against the front seat, as he hadn’t buckled his seatbelt.

"Give me a gun! Quick! I’d rather commit suicide than fall into their hands!"

Feng Biao shouted urgently, and then Lin Xianghua finally took out a pistol and tossed it into the back seat.

The road was blocked; there was no point in ramming into it, as it would not get them through, and only leave them battered and bruised for no reason.

Feng Biao finally grabbed the pistol. Of course, he hadn’t thought about switching sides; otherwise, if he really wanted Lin Xianghua dead, he wouldn’t necessarily need a gun or a knife.

The car stopped, followed by at least a dozen other vehicles that also slowed down and stopped, blocking the road completely.

They were like fish trapped in a jar.

Lin Xianghua sighed slightly, then finally spoke into the walkie-talkie again, "It’s hopeless, boss. Run for it."

Feng Biao roared from behind, "You still believe the boss will come to save you? Damn it!"

Feng Biao suddenly aimed the gun at the back of Lin Xianghua’s head but didn’t shoot; instead, he scolded, "Are you stupid? Are you!"

Calling Lin Xianghua stupid, but Feng took the gun back, suddenly aimed it at his own temple, and shouted harshly, "If you have even a little bit of brain left, shoot yourself now. Don’t wait to be captured. By then, dying would be difficult."

Lin Xianghua silently pulled out his own pistol, his face resolute. "One last fight! I definitely won’t commit suicide. If you want to die, do it quickly. I feel you’re useless anyway, always whining and annoying everyone."

Feng Biao was about to pull the trigger, but when he noticed that although he was completely surrounded, no one seemed eager to approach, an idea suddenly struck him. "That’s right, they must capture us alive. Although we’ll be caught eventually, we can still take a few down with us."

After that, Feng Biao asked Lin Xianghua, "Do you still believe the boss will come to rescue you?"

Lin Xianghua calmly replied, "If the boss said he’ll come, he will. Why would he need to lie to you? What are you to him? Does he need to deceive you?"

Feng Biao was stunned for a while before he finally said, "You damn, you... you talk... but..."

Lin Xianghua firmly said, "The boss will definitely come. If he can’t make it, so be it, but I will hold on and wait!"

No special reason was given, no grandiose heroic claims were made, but Lin Xianghua’s attitude somehow gave Feng Biao a sliver of confidence.

This boss is crazy. Could he really come?

Feng Biao hesitated briefly, then it became even less likely for him to shoot himself. He sighed and spoke softly, "I have a favor to ask. If I get shot later and can’t move but am also not dead, please do me the honor of finishing me off. As a return, if you’re injured and can’t move, I’ll do the same for you. Let’s keep each other company on Huangquan Road, mainly not to be captured and suffer for no reason."

Lin Xianghua spoke softly, "Okay! But they think I am the boss, so they want to capture us alive. Even if we get captured, surely we won’t die that quickly, right?"

"You’re being naive now. Whether you are him or not, you’re definitely dead. Believe me, find a quick end rather than waiting for a death that never comes."

Feng Biao sighed, then firmly said, "I definitely cannot be captured alive, absolutely not, absolutely not!"

Someone approached using the car for cover, then a voice loudly said, "Exit the vehicle and surrender, and we guarantee no harm will come to you!"

Lin Xianghua remained silent, but Feng Biao turned around and shot directly at the person who spoke.

Feng Biao’s shot was too accurate. That person would have surely been blown apart if they’d been even slightly slower in ducking.

"Come on! Bring it! Let’s die together!"

Feng Biao began to shout loudly, while Lin Xianghua, quite helplessly, said, "Brother, can you not be so brash? Stall for time, give the boss a chance to save us. Isn’t it good to live?"

Lin Xianghua tried to reason with Feng Biao twice, his left hand on the car door about to exit, when Feng Biao quickly said, "What are you doing?"

"Getting out and running. Since they’re not willing to kill me, I’ll just run."

"Don’t get out! If you stay in the car, they can’t use many non-lethal weapons, but once you leave the car, you’ll be captured right away. They can’t use tear gas or stun guns now, but since it’s clear they want to capture you alive, aren’t you being foolish by getting out? Really, I thought you were a bit dumb but meaningful, so I’m giving you advice, you’d rather shoot yourself than be captured alive. That fate is a thousand times worse than death!"

Lin Xianghua furrowed his brows and said, "Have you experienced it?"

Feng Biao laughed briefly and responded, "Guess how I know. Asking that kind of stupid question, you really are..."

Feng Biao sighed again and said, "You say the boss will come to rescue, I’ve sent him our location. Ah Gui... What a terrible name you picked, it’s like you’re asking to die by still using ’Ah Gui’ when on a mission."

Lin Xianghua was left speechless, he just softly said, "Can you keep quiet for a bit?"

Just then, smoke grenades began to be hurled out of the vehicles both ahead and behind, quickly enveloping the area in thick smoke.

"See what I told you, they were just waiting for you to get out. Once you did, stun guns, tranquilizer guns, and even net-launching guns would have been used. They would have definitely captured you."

Clearly drawing from experience, though it was unclear where that experience had come from.

Sighing deeply, Feng Biao, looking resigned, said, "Alright, my brother, let’s accept our fate. Having taken their money, we owe them our lives. I’m definitely not surrendering and will never be captured alive. You do what you think is best."

"Take the chance while there’s smoke and run."

Feng Biao scoffed and said, "Don’t be foolish. Just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean they can’t see you. Thermal imaging works during the day too. They want to capture you using non-lethal methods; if you get out, you won’t even have the chance to take your own life."

Lin Xianghua sighed softly, Feng Biao seeming completely indifferent to life or death now as he leisurely said, "Where are you from, and where will you go after you die?"

What kind of question is that?

Lin Xianghua spoke softly, "I’m from southern China."

"I damn well know you’re from the south, but where exactly? I’m checking if we can be companions on Huangquan Road. You give me ’from southern China.’"

"I’m from... Su Province, Suzhou."

"Hmm, hmm?"

At that moment, Gao Yi’s voice rang out in the earpieces again.

"I’m here, I’ve arrived. Get ready, I’ll attack from behind, find the right moment and run."

Feng Biao was shocked, then he exclaimed in utter astonishment, "Damn! I underestimated him. The boss really came!"
