Chapter 310: Chapter 293 Eastern Orthodox Church Part 1 (Requesting Monthly Ticket for next month, thank you everyone for the support, let’s not start with a single Chapter...)_2
Inside the bus, only a few foreigners were quietly speaking a language that everyone else couldn’t understand.
Lin Fei, leaning back in her seat, began recalling the information on the recently acquired Apathetic Energy Scepter.
From the information, Lin You’s purpose was very clear.
According to the fixed distribution spots of the Energy Scepter Contractors, within Romania, there exists a heritage family of Earth Energy Scepter Contractors and Integrators. Thus, it was very likely that their goal was to find the Staff of the Earth Contractor.
Legend had it that if one could gather all five Energy Scepters and inherit their mysterious powers, one could ascend to the heavens in one step. Lin Fei scoffed at such statements. There was no such thing in the world as achieving without sacrifice. Even if it was merely inheriting the strength of predecessors, the receiver had to lack significant combat experience and insight. Such a product was at most like a child holding a handgun compared to a Special Forces Soldier with one.
From the information she had gathered, Lin Fei was certain that Lin You had indeed obtained the Water System Scepter, as evidenced by her display of Ice System abilities in front of her last time, there was no doubt about it. The statuses of the others, however, remained unknown.
"So, their next goal is to assemble all the Energy Scepter Contractors and find a way to activate the inherited power. However, such cases aren’t rare in history, many powerhouses have repeatedly tried this process, but the end result is either death by explosion or complete failure to inherit even a hint of power. After many attempts, almost everyone has given up," Lin Fei’s mind raced through the information. "Knowing the high possibility of such danger, the fact that these people could still gather together clearly indicated a few possibilities, one is an external threat forcing them to gather in search of the last hope. The second is that they have a method to avoid this danger and increase the likelihood of successful inheritance."
Lin Fei glanced at the others around her, slightly guessing in her mind.
"The frequent killings of Energy Scepter Contractors lately indicate the first possibility is more likely. But the second isn’t impossible either."
He had come along with his sister, primarily to observe how far they were from the scene of their past life’s death. But now it seemed these people, though gathered around Lin You, didn’t seem to have any friction with the Holy See. There was no sign that a powerful figure like Aisaha would personally intervene.
Knowing that Aisaha, as a member of the Judgement Knight Order, undoubtedly had significant latent power and vassal strongmen under him, against the likes of Lin You and her companions, he didn’t need to intervene himself; just a few simple commands would suffice.
Along the way, everyone successively fell silent, all absorbed in their own thoughts.
Lin Fei was alone in her thoughts, while the others seemed to have their own concerns too.
Lin You looked complicatedly at Lin Fei sitting in front of her, catching glimpses of her profile through the gaps in the seats.
To be honest, she really didn’t want to drag Lin Fei into her affairs. Although the enemies that should have appeared had begun to keep a low profile because of the big war between the Holy See and heretics, fearing bringing disaster upon themselves, it didn’t mean her group was absolutely safe. After all, everybody harbors a bit of hope against hope. If some enemies came to sneak attack them, and her own strength was not strong enough, if something unforeseen happened, if something happened to Lin Fei...
Lin You didn’t dare to think further.
"Don’t worry," Feil gently held her hand, reassuring her through a soul transmission. "Right now, the whole world’s attention is on the Holy See and the heretics. The more intense the conflict, the safer it is for us, as it means both sides will involve increasingly more forces, making the repercussions wider and preventing smaller forces from making rash moves."
"I know, it’s just...." Lin You didn’t continue. "Even though he’s often annoying, even though he doesn’t act like a brother should..."
Feil seemed to have thought of something and fell silent too, just holding her hand tightly.
"You two," Cheng Guang spoke up. "Cheer up a bit. It’s not often you get to travel abroad, especially you, Little You. Have fun."
"Yeah," Lin You nodded heavily.
The bus continued until it slowly stopped in front of a hotel in the city center.
The group followed and stepped off the vehicle.
Surrounding them were bright, tidy streets, with green belts of lush lawns and patches of little flower beds seen every few distances. Occasionally, one could spot round-domed European-style antique buildings.
No sooner had they alighted from the bus than two individuals, apparently hotel staff, approached them, speaking fluent American English, though with a strange accent—yet communication was essentially unimpaired.
"Do you need accommodation? Our Lk Hotel is one of the local hotels with an excellent reputation and great value for money. Inside, you’ll find detailed travel routes and basic local knowledge, and hiring a local guide is very convenient."
Chris promptly went up to discuss with them, as she was most familiar with the place. Meanwhile, the others stood behind waiting for the outcome.
"Aside from having fewer cars around, it’s just like abroad," Lin You observed the surroundings curiously, his interest waning slightly.
"Let’s find a place to stay first," Merrill whispered.
It didn’t take long for Chris to negotiate a good rate for their stay.
Since all the funds were held by her, everyone else just listened to her arrangements.
After settling into the hotel, apart from Lin Fei who had a room by himself, Lin Fei and Chris Phil shared one room, and Merrill and Cheng Guang shared another.
After everyone went to their rooms to sort out their luggage.
Lin Fei seized this moment to take out his phone again, dialed a string of numbers, and sent an empty message out—it was the private contact number Spider had given him. But just like before, there was no response.
He frowned.
"Something’s not right with Sis. But it was just recently that I met with Spider; it couldn’t be that I’m unable to contact him so soon."
With eyes slightly closed, Lin Fei directly contacted Yuan Yicheng, who was far away in the United Kingdom, through the Sword Canon Space.
"Check out this person Spider for me; buy some intel from the intelligence agencies. Also get information on the well-known Child of Hell, Sis. Try to get as detailed information as possible within your capabilities."
"Alright. Spider is also considered a headache for government bodies and other powers in the United Kingdom, extremely secretive, and it’s estimated there’s scarce information on him. However, the Child of Hell, Sis, has recently become infamous. It seems like the members of the Judgment Knight Order are after him. I’ll purchase the detailed intel shortly," Yuan Yicheng quickly replied.
"The Judgment Knight Order?" Lin Fei felt a sinking in his heart.
"Yes. Somehow, Sis has gotten involved with these Holy See folks. Normally, the Holy See doesn’t interfere too much with the affairs of the outer world, as most of their power is focused on the Inner World. But this time, they’ve actually deployed so many knights in the outer world. It looks like they’re planning something big."
"I see." Ending the connection with Yuan Yicheng, Lin Fei then immediately contacted someone else.
"Gold Robe, where are you now?"(To be continued. If you like this work, we welcome you to vote for it with a recommendation or a monthly ticket at qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
