Chapter 266 - 254 Crater 2

Chapter 266: Chapter 254 Crater 2

Lin Fei followed the crowd off the airplane and casually glanced around at these people. To be honest, he didn’t understand why these Chinese people would come to the Philippines for no reason; he had researched before coming and found that, like Indonesia, the Philippines had also experienced anti-Chinese incidents. Although it wasn’t as recent as in Indonesia, any normal Chinese person would feel a deep insult to their self-respect when they saw people of the same race being arbitrarily humiliated and murdered. Even Lin Fei, who by now hardly considered himself ordinary, felt an unconscious aversion.

As a result, he felt a natural discomfort upon arriving in this city.

"What a disgusting place," Lin Fei muttered softly.

The person next to him who had just alighted from the plane seemed to hear his comment and gave him a surprised look.

"Manila is quite nice, my friend," said a refined-looking young man, who appeared to be in his twenties or thirties.

"Nice my ass!" Before Lin Fei could reply, a crisp voice interjected, "If it weren’t for my mom insisting on coming here, I wouldn’t bother with such a disgusting place!"

A pretty girl wearing a white travel hat stood nearby, speaking disdainfully. She wasn’t very beautiful, but she knew how to dress,

wearing a black silk pleated skirt with silver dots and black knee-high boots that covered almost the entirety of her calves, with thin black stockings only showing a portion of the thigh. The girl was carrying a white shoulder bag on her back. Her long hair was pulled straight, and silver earrings could partially be seen among the strands. She had the air of a pretty street vendor.

The refined young man frowned and without responding, simply walked away. It was likely that his opinion of the girl had plummeted to an all-time low.

"Can’t stand people who think so highly of themselves," the girl said with a bit of a rebellious air, looking disdainfully at the man. After finishing her statement, she glanced at Lin Fei.

"Buddy, looks like we’re birds of a feather. What brings you to Manila?"

"Some business," Lin Fei responded. The woman seemed overly familiar. "You’re here on vacation? Accompanying your mom?"

"Yes. I tried to dissuade my mom for ages, but we ended up coming anyway. Our next stop is even Jakarta, if it weren’t for fearing something might happen to my mom...Ah, the bus is here."

As the airport bus pulled up.

Most people who had disembarked boarded the bus. A few others walked on their own.

Shortly after getting off, Lin Fei, not needing to claim any luggage, followed the corridor directly to the exit. There, he already saw Yuan Yicheng with a black man standing by the exit.

Yuan Yicheng, ever the figure of a successful high-level professional, wore a sharp, cold black suit.

The black man beside him also wore a suit, exuding the aura of a bodyguard.

The duo standing at the exit naturally drew the gaze of people streaming out of the airport.

This time, Lin Fei had taken on the appearance of an older middle-aged man, quite ordinary, with a slight stubble, dressed in a plain white shirt, trousers, and leather shoes, indistinguishable from a regular office worker.

Yuan Yicheng and Lin Fei were connected through the Sword Canon, hence they could pinpoint each other’s location. They also could recognize each other’s unique aura.

Seeing Lin Fei stepping out, Yuan Yicheng approached proactively.

"My lord. You’ve arrived."

"Just call me Lin Mu when we’re outside," Lin Fei said with a smile, "And drop the formalities."

"Yes," Yuan Yicheng nodded. He gestured towards the black man behind him.

"This is my deputy commander, House. We’ll need his cooperation for the upcoming operation."

"Then, let’s get started," Lin Fei said calmly. "Let’s wrap this up quickly. I need to get back early."

"Right, everything is prepared. The target should now be located near the crater of Taal Volcano, just outside the city area."

"The crater?"

"Yes, volcano sites aren’t uncommon here. Manila itself is simply a volcanic island. And the place we are heading to is Taal Volcano near downtown Manila."

"How long will it take to get there directly?"

Yuan Yicheng looked inquiringly at the black man beside him.

"Half an hour," House replied with a grin, showing a row of white teeth.

******************

The deep blue of Taal Lake was like a gem.

Standing by the lake, one could see a large volcano in the distance, surrounded by white clouds, smelling the faint scent of the sea mingled with green grass and trees. Even though a breeze blew occasionally, it was still a warm wind. Beyond the small town by the lake lay the dense tropical forest that ringed Taal Lake.

In the forest opposite the small town across the lake, a group of oddly-dressed individuals appeared among the trees. These people were clad in black clothing, seemingly indifferent to the intense heat, as if they were Special Forces Soldiers, with small pockets all over their bodies, bulging out. This group numbered in the dozens, dispersed densely throughout the forest, including both men and women. But no matter the person, each one wore a faint expression of solemnity and nervousness, with sheathed long daggers or short blades strapped to their hips and legs. Some of the members even took packages off their backs and from them extracted various parts, beginning to assemble firearms.

All these people moved in a practiced and orderly manner. Clearly, this wasn’t their first rodeo.

Niqi and Fang crouched by the lakeshore, observing their team members making various preparations in the woods.

"The last issue now is how to ascertain the exact location. Lano, check in with Dove," Niqi instructed a Caucasian man behind him who was smoking a cigarette.

The Caucasian nodded, tossed his cigarette, and stamped it out harshly with his foot.

"Okay," he walked aside to make a call.

"Once we move up there, no more using phones. Turn them all off, and use only our team’s short-range communicators," the bald Fang reminded.

"Got it," Niqi nodded, glancing at his watch. "According to the schedule, Black Bee Glans and his group should arrive here by this afternoon at the earliest. So, we still have plenty of time for action."

"That’s good," Fang said, pulling a green mint from his pocket, peeling it off, and chewing it a few times.

Just then, Lano returned.

"Boss, the location is confirmed. We’re just waiting for our move."

"Let’s go!" Lin Fei waved his hand.

A burst of blue light suddenly spread, causing the entire forest to rustle with whirling winds.

Snap!

A circle of white shock wave slowly expanded. Everyone dressed in black clothes disappeared in an instant.

Only an empty forest remained.

On the shore of a distant lake, from behind the crevices of several large stones, a dark-skinned man quietly put away his binoculars and started dialing a phone.

Fifteen minutes later,

Lin Feipeng and Yuan Yicheng appeared in the same forest.

Yuan Yicheng squatted down and carefully examined the footprints on the ground.

"There should be between twenty-five and thirty people. According to the size of Lin Fei’s group, it must be a full mobilization."

Lin Fei nodded.

"According to your subordinate’s information, they used supernatural teleportation here. It’s impossible to determine their exact location. Any good ideas?"

Yuan Yicheng nodded and said, "One of my men has the ability to track enemies by their scent." He clapped his hands loudly.

Soon, a skinny figure emerged from the forest.

This man was thin and reminded one of a monkey, standing not even half as tall as Lin Fei. In other words, he was a dwarf.

Yuan Yicheng spoke a few words to the dwarf in English, after which the dwarf began sniffing the ground carefully.

Lin Fei stood aside, quietly waiting.

Soon, the dwarf raised his head.

"Commander, their direction should be up there!" he said loudly, pointing in a direction.

Lin Fei and Yuan Yicheng followed his pointing finger. The Taal Volcano was clearly in view.

Yuan Yicheng spoke softly, "I’ve investigated Lin Fei’s combat history; he mainly operates in the surface world, and his strength should be around the high level of C-rank. He should be relatively easy to deal with."

"Why not B-rank?" Lin Fei asked.

"A B-rank doesn’t need to mix in the mercenary world; joining any organization would be far better than staying in the mercenary circles. It’s also much easier," Yuan Yicheng replied. "It seems there aren’t many B-rank strong ones in this world. Perhaps I should say, not many in the surface world."

"You are an exception," Lin Fei smiled and said.

"Yes," Yuan Yicheng did not deny, knowing what Lin Fei meant—he was indirectly asking if he had reached B-rank. "Should we kill them all?"

Lin Fei didn’t answer, just chuckled lightly, and his figure suddenly vanished from the spot.

Yuan Yicheng stood still, turning his head towards the distant Taal Volcano, silently speechless.

Midway up the volcano

Teams dressed in black climbed swiftly toward the peak. Their speed was constant, totally unlike ordinary people who would move slowly and struggle. The steep incline was as easy for them as walking on flat ground.

"Faster, faster!" a low shout emanated occasionally from the group.

Niqi and Lin Fei ran at the forefront,

The dense trees swiftly passed by both men, with bursts of blue light occasionally flashing under their feet. Each flash of light propelled them rapidly forward like thrusters.

Despite their swift running, neither Niqi nor Lin Fei showed any signs of fatigue.

"We are expecting to reach the peak in ten minutes," Niqi said calmly.

Just as Lin Fei was about to speak, his expression suddenly changed.

"Who’s there!" he abruptly stopped, raising his hand, and the entire team stopped instantly, all eyes following his gaze straight ahead. A faint sound of firearms came from the group.

Just then, from behind a large tree ahead, a tall figure slowly emerged.

This person was dressed in a suit and tie, holding a Black Longsword, with his black tie gently lifting with the wind.

Hiss...

The Black Longsword was slowly drawn, and the person causally tossed the Sword Sheath aside, gripping the sword with both hands.

Hiss!

Lin Fei’s eyes suddenly narrowed as the figure abruptly appeared in front of him, a silver blade slashing across. He could even feel a chilling cold spreading from his throat.

The eyes of the opponent were indifferent, with not a ripple in them. In those clear black pupils, his own astonished face was reflected.

"No!!!" Lin Fei roared furiously. An intense blue current exploded over his body. All the currents fused into one and fiercely met the oncoming blade.

Boom!

From where he stood, numerous cracks suddenly spread outward, resembling a myriad of spider webs. (To be continued. If you like this work, feel free to visit qidian.com to vote for it, and give a Monthly Ticket, your support is my greatest motivation.)
