Matthias was very curious about why his mother suddenly approved of his marriage to Victoria. However, he didn’t want to ask too many questions that might make her change her mind again. He returned home happy because he would date his wife more freely. He didn’t have to worry about his mother forbidding him from dating anymore.

Meanwhile, Victoria wondered what had made her husband smile so happily. Initially, she was focused on the romantic drama she was watching. Now, her focus was on her husband, who looked adorable.

"By the way, didn’t your mother scold you? Didn’t your mother call you because she wanted to scold you?"

Matthias pressed his lips together tightly. He immediately embraced his wife affectionately, gently stroking her hair. "I wasn’t scolded this time. I’m just happy."

"Isn’t your mother a fierce woman?"

"Actually, she’s not always fierce. But, for some reason, my mother is being nice to me today." He broke the hug for a moment and then kissed his wife’s forehead for a few seconds. "You don’t have to be afraid anymore."

"Matthias, what exactly are you talking about now?"

"It seems like my mother approves of our relationship."

Victoria’s brow furrowed. "What?"

"She told me earlier. So, you don’t need to be afraid of her."

"But, this is so strange. Why did your mother suddenly approve of our relationship?"

Matthias rested his chin on his hand. "I suspect the hotel’s CCTV cameras recorded our movements. She said she saw everything. Maybe when we left the hotel room, the CCTV cameras recorded everything, even though we left separately."

"But I still feel something’s strange. Previously, our relationship wasn’t approved. Why did your mother suddenly approve of our relationship?"

"Actually, I also felt something was odd. Especially since my mother isn’t the type of woman who changes her mind too quickly. I had a chat with her last night after the dance. She was very against our relationship."

In fact, hearing this news made Victoria feel unworthy of maintaining her relationship with her husband. She worried that she would hurt him one day if things didn’t live up to her expectations. "Instead of thinking about negative things, how about you watch a romantic movie with me now?"

Matthias lifted his head to face his wife. "It’s unusual for you to invite me to a romantic movie. What’s on your mind?"

"Since I’m watching a romantic movie right now and no one’s been keeping me company, you should keep me company now."

To express his happiness, he planted multiple kisses on his wife’s cheek while swinging his right hand. "It’s an honor for me to be invited to watch a romantic movie with you."

"You look so cute just now, Matthias."

"Really?"

Victoria looked away while hugging a pillow. "Forget it!"

Victoria was still confused by Matthias’s mother’s sudden approval of their marriage. This only made her even more afraid. Could it be that Matthias’s mother suddenly approved their marriage as a revenge plot? She worried that because they were married, her husband would be the one at a disadvantage. If he were to discover her mother’s true plans, he would be even more hurt. She desperately wanted that.

Having kept her anxiety bottled up for days, she finally decided to talk it out with Jennifer. Jennifer was the only one she could rely on when it came to romantic matters.

Victoria invited Jennifer to chat at her favorite cafe. As usual, she ordered a matcha latte, her favorite drink.

"Wait a minute! Did I hear you right? Your evil in-laws suddenly approved of your marriage?"

Victoria furrowed her brows. "Could you please stop treating her as my mother-in-law? I still haven’t accepted Matthias as my husband!"

"Okay, let’s say I now consider that evil auntie your future mother-in-law. But why did she suddenly approve of your marriage? Hasn’t she always hated you and your family?"

"This is precisely what makes me feel strange. Did she intentionally approve of my relationship with Matthias so it would backfire on me?"

"So, you’re saying that when I marry Matthias, she’ll throw a bomb at me? That bomb is all my flaws rolled into one, publicly embarrassing me and my family."

Jennifer nodded. "I’m really worried about you. If this continues, you’ll be at a huge disadvantage. Besides, Matthias will be affected too."

"I can’t bear to see Matthias suffer because of me. Should I distance myself from him again?"

Jennifer nudged her best friend’s hand repeatedly. "I knew you liked him."

Victoria’s eyes widened. "What? There’s no way I’d like him!"

"If you don’t like him, why do you care so much?"

"But, I care about him because I already consider Matthias as my friend, not my husband."

"The bottom line is, you need to think about all this weirdness before your relationship gets even more ruined. It actually makes me feel suffocated every time I see you two fight. I’d rather see you being considerate of her these days."

Jennifer was right. If she didn’t like her husband, why did she care so much? Hearing Jennifer’s words made her think about it all the time at work.

Hours after their conversation with Jennifer, she was increasingly confused. For some reason, when she told him she still didn’t like him, her heart immediately rejected her. Was she truly in love with him?

"Didn’t you previously promise to be an advertising model for my company?"
