Matthias felt a sense of déjà vu with his wife’s recent question. She had asked him the same question before, making him start to miss their sweet moments from the past. However, he was still determined to put the past behind him and start anew with the woman he loved.

"Yes, I was born an innocent man. In fact, last night I was a little surprised when you suddenly attacked me first."

"Me?" Victoria’s eyes widened.

"Yes, you were really naughty last night. But I can’t think of it as a mistake."

"Matthias, should I teach you a lesson?"

"Wouldn’t it be more likely that you should be taught a lesson?"

Victoria rolled her eyes and finished her husband’s hangover soup, a sweet smile on her face. "Thank you, Matthias."

"I want to thank you too, Victoria."

"What do you want to thank me for?"

Matthias grabbed his wife’s hand. "You go ahead. I’m curious to see what you have to say."

"Actually, I’m really grateful for your help last night. I managed to get all my clients, and I loved dancing with you."

"If only we were given the chance to dance again, would you dance with me, my wife?"

Victoria nodded and lowered her head. "I want to."

"I’ll definitely dance with you someday. I really liked your style yesterday. You were so cool."

"By the way, now it’s your turn to answer my question. Why did you thank me earlier?"

"Because I really enjoyed all the wonderful moments we shared yesterday. From the party to bedtime."

Victoria’s cheeks flushed as she imagined herself being so naughty all night. "Can you stop talking about that? Don’t you feel embarrassed and hot every time you think about it?"

"I’m not ashamed of what we did last night–"

Victoria immediately covered her husband’s mouth with her hand. "I told you not to mention it again!"

"But you looked really sexy last night. You usually look elegant, but last night you were really wild."

"You bring it up again, I won’t forgive you!"

"You’re so funny. This is why I like you so much."

Suddenly, his phone vibrated on the table in the middle of a sweet conversation between him and his wife. He was forced to put the sweet conversation on hold and answer his mother’s call.

"What are you doing now? Are you busy?"

"I’m watching TV. What’s going on, Mom?"

"Can you come visit me this afternoon? There’s something important I want to discuss with you."

"Okay, I’ll be home later."

The call ended quickly. Matthias sighed weakly as he stared at his wife, who was still smiling gracefully before him. He was worried that his mother would scold him again about his romantic problems. While his wife loved him, there were always obstacles getting in the way of their relationship. It was unclear how long their relationship would continue to face obstacles. This time, Matthias decided to take a firm stance. He didn’t want his life controlled by anyone, not even his own family.

"Victoria, I’m sorry, but I don’t think I can ask you out on a date this afternoon."

"It’s okay. You should just visit your mother. You’d better prioritize your family over me."

"Why do you say that? Aren’t you in my family too?"

Victoria felt her heart pounding as she heard the simple words spoken by her husband. In an instant her body felt warm and she felt like she wanted to stop her husband from leaving her.

"I am your family?"

"Because you are my wife by law. Of course, you have been my family for the past two years."

"But, I still think of you as just a contract husband."

"It’s okay. I don’t mind. Since you don’t love me yet, I won’t force you to consider me family."

"Matthias, why do you always let me be selfish? Don’t you ever get hurt?"

"No. Because if I were to act selfishly, it would only make you hate me."

Every time she heard her husband’s words like this, Victoria burst into tears. Her heart ached and filled with guilt. Was her decision to hate Matthias all her life the right one? Especially when she does it all night with her husband is the true desire of her heart.

"Victoria, even though our relationship is not approved, I decided to persuade my mother today."

"But, what if your mother gets even angrier?"

"It’s okay. I’m willing to be scolded just to have you in my life."

Matthias looked confident as he walked into his family’s home. He found his mother in the garden, sitting relaxed on a bench. He was curious about why she had called him out of the blue, and her expression was so happy.

"What are you calling me for again, Mother?"

"This is the first time I haven’t had to scold you about a romantic issue. I didn’t expect you to actually do it in a hotel."

Matthias rolled his eyes as he knelt before his mother. "Mother, I truly love my girlfriend. I promised her I would take full responsibility for her. Because I can’t live happily without her."

Lucretia smiled sarcastically as she crouched down in front of her son. She wrapped her arms around his back. "Okay, I want you to marry her because I made sure you did it with her at the hotel."
