Chapter 92: Ch. 43 Part 1
*****************
In the room where Xiao Ling was laid to rest and recover his strength. The youngster’s lashes trembled as they slowly opened revealing his mesmerizing black pupils. He laid still groggy and confused as he sort out his memories. The youngster slowly brought himself up to a sitting position, his eyes roam the room in search for someone, but the person he was searching for wasn’t in the room. Xiao Ling was apathetic not being able to see the one he wanted to see the most when he opened his eyes.
Xiao Ling closed his eyes and sensed the energy in him, he sighed regretfully not sensing the tremendous power he felt when Yanzhi lended him his qi. Truly a power which was lended to one will always remain a borrowed strength and not one’s, he couldn’t help but think with a regretful heart. But with that being said, he seemed to have gained some benefits from the power lended to him, his qi capacity had widened more and a the skill ’Shadow Cloak’ had not left him although it’s at E level now. And the number of undeads he could possess now was more, both the undeads he just made and the ones he previously had, the slots had opened up and he could summon two more of his previous undead soldiers. With that he was overjoyed, although he couldn’t keep that tremendous borrowed strength, he wasn’t without benefits from it.
He got down from the bed with an indifferent look, his face lacking emotions of any sorts. Xiao Ling used the cleansing technique on himself, before changing into new sets of robes. He wore a black and white robes, the shirt white and the coat black with a long back elbow length gloves. The gloves was designed in pentagon shape at the wrist side with a ring shape attached to the top point which fixed on his ring finger, all five fingers showing. A black jade pendant attached to the belt on his waist, on the hem of the black coat were white color embroidery of snakes in different forms.
Xiao Ling walked out of the room after getting dressed as he made his way down the hall paths. As he got closer to the entrance of the house, he could here sounds of swords clashing. Xiao Ling quickened his pace. At the entrance of the house, he could hear clearly the sounds of swords clashing together. Xiao Ling followed the sounds leading him to the place Yanzhi used as a training grounds at the backyard.
The brightness of the sun made him squint his eyes in discomfort, judging from the sky he could tell it was daybreak. He didn’t need to be told for him to know that he slept through out the rest of the yesterday and throughout the night, and was only able to wake up now from his slumber.
His sights fell on Yanzhi and Yue exchanging swords, more like Yue striking with her all as if her life depended on it and Yanzhi evading with one hand behind and with ease. They had spectators surrounding them looking with interest and envy, most probably thinking when they could be able to possess Yue’s strength, none of them had sights for Yanzhi’s strength even though they were with envy. But to possess Yanzhi’s strength, it will take them decades to be able to possess Xiao Ling’s strength, much less think about the strength Yanzhi possessed. Yanzhi and Yue’s spectators were Lixin, Xile, number 6 and 7, Jinhua, doctor Shi, King Pingxi and a weird looking elderly man (old Fei’s appearance in Xiao Ling’s eyes). The elderly man had an expression of being wronged and envyness, his eyes solemnly focused on the movements of Yue and Yanzhi as if wanting to follow along the actions.
Xiao Ling sent his sights back to YanZhi and Yue, he looked with distress at Yue who had a lot of blood stains on the green dress she was wearing. On her stomach was the most blood as she kept bleeding profoundly from the stab wound on her stomach. One could see that her movements slow in every seconds, she looked tired and from the clumsy movements she was making, it was obvious she couldn’t go on anymore. But the look in her eyes never wavered as she continued to maintain the determinations in them and stood strong.
"Why don’t you stop for now, and continue after taking some rest" Xiao Ling walked to them saying along the way.
Both Yanzhi and Yue stopped their swords in mid-air and turned to him, infact they had already sensed his presence as soon as he arrived, but because they were in the middle of a serious training they had to focus. Yanzhi brought his sword down.
"Let’s stop here, go and heal your wounds" Yanzhi said calmly to Yue. He stretched out his sword, Lixin quickly went for it and passed him a clean wet cloth.
"Yue thanks master for his guidance, Yue will practice more to meet masters expectations" Yue bowed respectfully as she said, her voice never wavering or even showing weakness even though she was badly hurt, she still stood strong to the very end.
Yanzhi didn’t say anything but focus on wiping off the bloodstains from his hands without any expression. Yue turned around and began to walk away to get herself also cleaned up and treat her wounds. Her body suddenly swayed, her juniors quickly made their way to her to support her with heavy hearts thinking she was going to fall.
"Eldest sister!" they shouted.
But she just raised her hand to stop their approaching figures, "i can walk by myself" she simple stated and continued on ahead.
The corners of Yanzhi’s lips rised up forming a smile looking at her small figure getting farther and farther while swaying, he had a look like that of a proud father who witnessed the growth of his child and watched her come out to the world to start her adventures.
"She makes a lovely daughter... doesn’t she?" Xiao Ling seeing his undisguised smile and his expression soft, he teased.
Yanzhi passed the cloth back to Lixin, turned around and walked to Xiao Ling. "You think so?" he asked with a playful grin.
"Xiang gong just can’t hide his true feeling for the kids, just now you looked like a proud father." Xiao Ling said seriously with a smile making YanZhi chuckled.
Yanzhi moved closer to him and leaned to his ears "it’s not bad to have them as my children...but little wife, i would rather prefer the children you give me" he smirked satisfied seeing Xiao Ling’s ears reddened flustered.
"You-you-you! Xiang gong don’t tease me!" Xiao Ling said flustered and quickly moved away from him.
Yanzhi bust out laughing. The spectators watched the interaction between them looking at loss, they couldn’t believe that Yanzhi who was laughing and smiling while conversing now with Xiao Ling, is the same Yanzhi who was coldly stabbing his disciple without any ounce of emotion just movements ago. They shivered thinking about it.
"Your excellency! Master Ling" Jinhua and the others walk to them as they greeted with enthusiasm and vigor.
"Brother Jinhua, you’re all here!" Xiao Ling said with a smile.
"En!" was all Yanzhi said in his nasal, before going back to ignoring them.
"Master Ling, how was your rest?" Doctor Shi asked.
"Feeling better than ever...thank you" Xiao Ling said thankfully hearing the undisguised worry from his words, he was really happy. In his previous life he never had anyone to ask whether he was okay or not with such worry, not even his closest friend.
Xiao Ling started to look around. "Xiang gong i can’t seem to see Chang and Lu" he said to YanZhi.
"They’re away on an errand" Yanzhi simple replied, Xiao Ling nodded in understanding.
"But who’s that weird looking man?" Xiao Ling asked again with his sights on old Lei.
"I greet master Ling, i am named Lang Fei a retired commander of his highness King Pingxi’s army. I wish to swear allegiance to his excellency and master Ling" Old Fei greeted and said pitifully, thinking of winning over Xiao Ling so that Yanzhi would accept him. But what he didn’t know was that all his little thoughts was already seen by both the couple. Yanzhi had access to his thoughts directly, while Xiao Ling could more or less see through him.
"Well if so then i don’t mind welcoming another subordinate into the family" yet still Xiao Ling said with a shrug.
Old Fei’s eyes lit up sparkling like that of a child’s hearing his words. "Really?! Master Ling will really allow me?" he asked again and again to be sure.
Xiao Ling raised his head up to YanZhi, "Xiang gong wouldn’t mind right?"
"If that’s what little wife wants, then i have no problem with that. Little wife can accept whoever he wants" Yanzhi said dotingly with a smile.
"So Xiang gong says...you’re welcome to the family."
Old Fei also took the abyss essence pill to show his loyalty. King Pingxi stood at one side and watched all this unfolded with a sigh, he decided to no longer care about the people around him who are commiting treason openly without any sense of danger.
Yue returned back dressed in a change of dress and had taken care of her wounds. She looked better than when she left and her face was once again with colour and cheerfulness like her usual self. She joined in the small small conversations of Xiao Ling and Jinhua and the others.
Yanzhi who just stood by listen and wasn’t saying anything to add to their conversations, suddenly raised his head towards north. His mood fluctuated and a frown on his beautiful manly face.
Xiao Ling being sensitive to things around him, turn to look at Yanzhi, and do did Yue who also had her sights focused north.
"Xiang gong what happened?" Xiao Ling asked curiously, but wasn’t worried in the slightest.
Yanzhi wrapped his hand around Xiao Ling’s waist instead of answering, ignoring the flustered and stunned looks of the people around. He took off from the ground in flight. The people only heard "whoosh" as Yanzhi flew away above them, before they even had time to register what just happened in their minds, Yue also unsheathed her sword as it multiplied in size. She jumped on and also took off in flight.
"They-they’re cultivators!" King Pingxi exclaimed with a dumbstruck look of shock, it was only doctor Shi and Jinhua who were calm without being alarmed.
"You both already knew...right?" Old Fei asked them seeing their terrifying calm looks, but the both of them didn’t confirmed nor denied his claims, infact doctor Shi and Jinhua didn’t have to since it was obvious. Although martial artists can wield and use internal energy force proficiently, they can’t use it to stabilize themselves in the air and fly!
