Yanzhi took his glass and gulped down the wine, "there won’t be a next time for such schemes against me" putting down his glass he said to doctor Shi who also gulped down his wine. "Never again, your excellency" bowing once more he apologized earnestly.

"Little wife, let’s retire" Yanzhi stretched out his hand to Xiao Ling who took it and stood up from his seat.

"Doctor Shi, I, Xiao Ling, like dealing with honest people. I hate it when people betray me and scheme against me, so I hope what happened this time, will not repeat itself another time. I will forgive you just this time around, we will leave for the village at first light tomorrow, whatever matters are left to discuss will be discussed after you return." With that said Xiao Ling walked side by side with Yanzhi as they waltz out of the hall followed by Yue and the rest. Doctor Shi finally let out a breath of relief, but his heart wasn’t very at ease knowing that he must’ve upset the couple.

The emperor along with immortal Pei and his eunuch also excused themselves not long after Yanzhi and his group. Although he didn’t say anything regarding what happened, that didn’t mean the emperor was understanding and was unconcerned. After the emperor excused himself, the celebration continued on normally with no more surprises. No one spoke of what had just happened, but it didn’t mean that the matter had completely died out.

Outside the carriages stood the newlyweds who came early to see off Yanzhi and Xiao Ling along with their fathers, King Pingxi and imperial doctor Shi. They bowed respectfully as they watched the carriages and horses slowly galloped out of King Pingxi’s residence, but Yanzhi and Xiao Ling refused to spare any words to them.

"We have angered brother Ling and his excellency" Jinhua said to doctor Shi, while releasing a breath.

"They’ll forget it sooner or later, let’s give them time...since they’ve given as a chance, it’s all worth it"

"You’re right. This stunt shouldn’t be repeated again!" Jinhua turned to doctor Shi as he spoke. "Let’s go back and practice, this time around the gifts we received from them are all to aide as in practice. We have nothing of valuable to gift them, if not I would say we should reciprocate....but we have nothing of value to them." he added.

In the carriage, Yanzhi gave Xiao Ling a meaningful look making Xiao Ling turn his face away in embarrassment.

"What is the matter? Why is Xiang gong looking at me like that?" Xiao Ling asked trying to sound and look calm.

"If I didn’t know little wife better, I would have thought little wife was angry because of such measly schemes. But the thing is that I know little wife, if not better but I do know you’re unbothered...so why put so much efforts? And you also left a shadow to protect them when you’re trying to look angry." Yanzhi analyzed, showing a rare curious look.

".....Xiang gong is right, I’m not bothered. Those two are the first ever friends I’ve had impressions of...in two lives. I just didn’t want such rare relationship such as friendship to end because of human nature. They’re honest, but human nature also gets the better of humans." Xiao Ling said with a little thoughtfullness.

"Matters about them are left to you, I have no care for such mortal issues. But little wife, don’t be too involve with mortals, I must warn you...the path of mortals and immortals are different" Yanzhi said with a very serious tone.

"I understand! Now that matters are taken care of, let’s go back to see the kids...it’s been days now, I wonder how they’re doing without us."

"You and I have no such children as old as them. It seems I have been neglectful of for thoughts for having kids, I have to work hard!" Yanzhi sounded so serious with his words, making Xiao Ling turned red from his face to neck with shyness.

’What nonsense! Although I can give birth, I am a full man okay!’ thankfully he had already discussed with Yanzhi not to read his thoughts, or Yanzhi would be having a blast hearing such thoughts. Not wanting to be embarrassed again, Xiao Ling sat crossed leg and chose to cultivate not wanting to be teased to losing face in front of the kids by Yanzhi!
