Chapter 119: Chapter 119: I, the Prince, Will Personally Look for the Princess
Upon hearing the abbot mention Liao Fan and directly stating he was inferior himself,
Liao Ran felt indignant and retorted coldly, "Junior Brother Liao Fan acts recklessly; had it not been for him bringing those people here, such an incident would not have occurred in the temple."
He was already furious, and his speech was filled with accusations against Liao Fan.
He completely forgot that it was Liao Fan who had brought Princess Qi over, which had saved Monk Kong Ran.
The abbot, upon hearing his words, did not utter a word, but stepped forward and said without turning back, "After we find the person, I will pass on the position of abbot to Liao Fan."
Behind him, the fellow monks all paused for a moment before catching up to his pace.
In the hall, only Liao Ran remained, his expression twisted as he watched their departing figures.
He returned to his room, so angry that he smashed a teapot.
But someone walked in from outside the door, sneering coldly, "What a pity, a waste of my good medicine."
Liao Ran looked up and saw it was the mysterious man in black from last night, a flicker of panic crossing his eyes, "Why haven’t you left yet?"
Indeed, last night he had clearly heard the man say he would leave Yunhe Temple today.
The mysterious man chuckled coldly, "You ruined my plan."
Liao Ran’s expression stiffened, "Although I did not succeed in making my move against Liao Fan, I have now tossed the little monk into the mountains. Killing Liao Fan would not be difficult."
The mysterious man glanced at him and asked indifferently, "Is that so?"
The brief reply was tinged with sarcasm, and it was the first time someone had looked down on the proud Liao Ran like this.
Instantly, he felt annoyed, "What do you want then!"
Impatience flashed through the eyes of the mysterious man.
If he had been a bit swifter, Liao Fan would have silently died by now, and it wouldn’t have caused such panic.
Now, with a little monk lost and adding a Princess Qi, this situation had completely disrupted his plans.
He gave Liao Ran a cold glance, a cruel smile forming on his lips, "Naturally, to kill you."
Anyone who thwarted his plans deserved to die.
Liao Ran was stunned by the murderous intent in his eyes and unconsciously took two steps back, "You... you dare not make a move against me!"
It was unclear whether he was speaking to the man before him or reassuring himself.
As if merely saying so would deter the man from attacking him indeed.
The mysterious man scoffed as if he had heard a joke, his pale pupils staring at him, his tone mocking, "Laughable, there is no one under heaven I dare not kill!"
As soon as these words fell, he had already drawn a soft sword from his waist and thrust it straight at Liao Ran.
Liao Ran dodged in a fluster, causing some noise, and the people who had headed to the back mountain turned back.
The mysterious man’s ears twitched at the sound of footsteps; he snorted coldly, withdrew his sword, and disappeared in a flash.
Li Mingjue reached the back mountain and, despite Liao Fan’s attempts to dissuade him, insisted on venturing in.
Shiqi, noticing the sky darkening and the mist swirling in the mountain, knelt down to block his path: "Prince, please halt, let your subordinate go find them!"
Li Mingjue replied coldly, "Step aside!"
Shiqi, still kneeling, continued to persuade, "The mountains are fraught with danger, I cannot let the Prince take this risk."
Li Mingjue glanced down at him, his tone ice cold, spaced out each word, "I am going to find the Princess myself."
Shiqi clenched his teeth, knowing he could not persuade him any further, and could only protect him by staying by his side.
Although Liao Fan was not skilled in martial arts, he had some training in qinggong and was relatively familiar with the area, so he led the way ahead.
Shiqi, sharp-eyed, spotted a faint footprint and told Li Mingjue, "My lord, the Princess might have gone this way!"
Li Mingjue turned and looked silently, then silently changed direction.
The sky had gradually darkened, and the group in the mountains struggled to discern their direction.
Monks from behind, led by the abbot with torches in hand, walked towards them.
After searching for a full two hours, he still had not spotted Qi Yu and Kong Ran.
Liao Fan’s expression had turned from hopeful at the start to utterly lifeless.
He looked at Li Mingjue, walking ahead, and couldn’t help but advise, "Prince, let’s go back. The Princess will be fine; fortune favors the good."
If they kept going, an encounter with a wild animal would mean certain death.
Li Mingjue did not turn around, he just coldly spat out one word, "Search."
Shiqi was following close to him, along with several other Hidden Guards, spreading out and walking deeper into the forest with their torches.
Li Mingjue held his sword, his mind in complete turmoil.
Regret and resentment intertwined within him; he wished he had stayed by Qi Yu’s side that morning.
But in just a fleeting moment, she had disappeared.
It felt as though there was a void in his heart, he was lost and clueless.
He could only keep walking deeper, with only one thought in his mind, he had to find her.
In the dense part of the forest, looking at the sky that had darkened, Qi Yu tightly held Kong Ran’s hand and instructed, "You must not run around."
Kong Ran hiding behind her, only dared to reveal a pair of eyes, vigilantly watching what lay ahead, worried that in the next second some fierce beasts might pounce out and devour them.
"Sister, can we still get out?"
His voice was beginning to tremble, carrying a hint of childishness, which made him sound pitiful.
Qi Yu’s heart softened for a moment, and she said firmly, "Yes, I will take you out."
She did not dare to directly hide in a room because there was no danger.
She knew Li Mingjue would definitely come looking for her; what if she missed him?
After walking for a while, both of them were exhausted.
She leaned against a large tree, asking the little monk to sit down.
"Close your eyes first," Qi Yu told Kong Ran.
She planned to check her space to see if there was anything useful there.
It wasn’t that she feared Kong Ran might reveal her secret after seeing the space, but rather she was afraid it might frighten the little monk.
Kong Ran obediently closed his eyes, yet as if worried she might leave him behind, he said in a soft, childish voice, "Sister, you can’t let go of my hand."
"Okay," Qi Yu agreed and took him into the space with her.
She held the little monk with one hand while she searched around in the space with the other.
After some searching, she found a signal flare, took a lighter, and stepped out.
"You can open your eyes now," she said, smiling at the little monk who had his eyes tightly shut.
Kong Ran then dared to open his eyes and, seeing that she seemed to hold something different in her hand, asked, "Sister, what is this?"
Qi Yu surveyed the terrain, planning to set off the signal flare in a more open area.
She casually replied, "It’s something that can take us out of here."
Kong Ran looked at the strangely shaped object, tilted his head, and although he didn’t understand how it could take them out, he believed whatever Fairy Sister said.
The two changed locations, to a place with fewer trees, where Qi Yu found the fuse and lit the signal flare, throwing it into the sky.
Previously, when she went into the woods to gather herbs, carrying a signal flare was essential.
If something happened, it could send a signal to others and also scare away nearby wild animals.
The signal flare exploded in the sky, bursting like fireworks, beautifully colorful.
Kong Ran was stunned, mouth agape, and after a long moment, he whispered in awe, "That’s amazing."
Meanwhile, Li Mingjue also saw this unexpected firework. His eyes slightly lit up, and he said to Shiqi, "I know where the Princess is."
