Chapter 118: Chapter 118: Where Haven’t We Searched?

Qi Yu saw him holding a stern face yet trying to look somberly mature, and she amusingly asked, "What did he do?"

Kong Ran furrowed his brows in distress, unsure whether to reveal the matter.

If he spoke, the eldest senior brother would surely be punished.

However, last night he had seen it clearly, the eldest senior brother must have put something in the tea, intending to harm Monk Liao Fan.

After pondering for a while, he finally clenched his little fists, his face all puffed up with anger and said, "He wanted to harm Monk Liao Fan!"

Among the two senior brothers, he still favored Monk Liao Fan, who always treated him with gentleness.

Whereas Liao Ran always scolded him.

The little monk, not yet able to see through people’s hearts, had already formed a basic sense of right and wrong; in his eyes, those who wished to harm others were definitely bad people.

Qi Yu raised her eyebrows in surprise, "What did he do to your Monk Liao Fan?"

She hadn’t expected the little monk, who seemed clueless and doughy like a steamed bun, to harbor quite a few secrets.

Kong Ran recounted last night’s events in detail. Due to his anger, his cheeks puffed out as he spoke, making him look very cute.

Qi Yu rubbed her fingers, restraining the urge to pinch his cheeks.

Listening to the little monk’s disjointed account, she roughly guessed what had happened.

Last night, Kong Ran had accidentally found Liao Ran drugging the teapot and, bursting with a sense of justice, he knocked on Liao Ran’s door early in the morning while everyone was still asleep, wanting to confront him.

But him being a child with no fighting ability, the ruthless Liao Ran knocked him out. When he woke up again, the person in front of him had turned into Qi Yu, the unlucky one.

"It seems that the teapot was taken by him," Qi Yu murmured while stroking her chin.

Upon realizing that his scheme had been discovered, Liao Ran must have panicked.

Thus, he knocked out the little monk first, then sneakily entered Kong Ran’s room and, while Liao Fan was still asleep, he stole the teapot to destroy the evidence.

Recalling how she and a group of people had rushed to Kong Ran’s room afterwards, and it was Liao Ran, that villain, who first filed a complaint saying the little monk was missing.

Qi Yu felt angry inside.

So, they had all been played for fools.

Moreover, she had inexplicably entered this mountainous area where even the roads were unclear.

Qi Yu looked up at the sky, not sure what time it was, but the sky was already showing signs of darkening; it must already be late.

She resignedly sighed, helped Kong Ran up, and broke off a piece of bamboo for him. The two supported each other as they looked for a way out of the mountain.

"Sister, can we get out?" the little monk asked somewhat fearfully.

Since he could remember, he had been staying in the temple and always heard his senior brothers say that the back mountain was dangerous and not to be approached.

Now, not knowing how he had been thrown into this, recalling the various legends and stories his senior brothers used to scare him with, he felt this place was eerie.

Although there was another person with him, this very beautiful Fairy Sister looked even weaker than him.

Thinking this, Kong Ran felt the weight of the responsibility on his shoulders increase. He clenched his fist and lifted his head to say to Qi Yu, "Sister, stand behind me, I will protect you!"

Qi Yu was briefly stunned, then burst into laughter.

She touched the little monk’s bald head, listening to his childish words, and laughed, "No worries, your sister is pretty powerful; you don’t need to protect me."

Even if they really couldn’t find a way out, being a person who had ’cheated’ through life with her space wasn’t a problem.

Moreover, by now, Li Mingjue must have noticed her absence and would definitely come looking for her.

Kong Ran thought she was boasting, and pouted unhappily, "Sister is lying!"

His senior brother had said that girls were very fragile and needed protection.

Qi Yu squeezed his plump little face irritably and said, "I’m here out of the goodness of my heart to rescue you, and you’re still doubting me."

Kong Ran held her hand, pursed his lips, and said nothing.

The two of them walked a little longer, still circling the same spot. Worried that he might tire, Qi Yu found a flat area for him to rest awhile.

When they had set out it was morning, and now it was already afternoon. Qi Yu thought she would have fainted from hunger if she hadn’t been keeping up her spirits.

She sneaked two apples out of her space with her hands behind her back and handed one to Kong Ran.

"Eat."

Kong Ran held the apple, almost as big as his face, and stared at her blankly, "Fairy Sister, where did you find these?"

Qi Yu took a bite of her apple and casually replied, "Actually, I’m a fairy who descended from heaven. These two apples are conjured by me."

Kong Ran’s mouth hung open as if he were trying to figure out if she was deceiving him.

After a while, he nodded, "Uh-huh, you are Fairy Sister."

He had seen some female devotees in the temple, but he had never seen anyone as beautiful as her.

Furthermore, this person had rescued him.

How could she not be a fairy?

Recalling the stories about fairies his older temple brother had told him, he was even more convinced that Qi Yu was indeed a fairy sister from heaven.

Her heart bloomed with joy at his words, she shamelessly nodded, "You really have an eye for things."

The two of them ate their apples bite by bite, creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

The tension of being trapped in the woods was nowhere to be seen.

Meanwhile, back in the temple, the atmosphere was very solemn.

Shiqi had already led people to search all over but still hadn’t found Qi Yu.

Mingjue’s face had gone beyond grim. He looked at Liao Fan with no expression and said, "Are there any places we haven’t checked?"

After thinking for a moment, Liao Fan replied, "If she is not in the temple, then we can only check the back mountain."

He made it sound easy, but inside he was utterly panicked.

It would have been fine if she were in the temple, but if she had gone into the back mountains, it was really a matter of life or death.

Mingjue immediately stood up, taking a few members of the Prince Residence’s Hidden Guard with him towards the back mountain.

Liao Fan followed behind, his steps firm.

The others looked hesitant.

While they needed to find her, the back mountains were fraught with danger, and entering might mean not coming back.

Liao Ran had already broken out in a cold sweat. Mingjue’s formidable presence was too stinging, his eyes pitch-black like he was brewing a storm.

When Mingjue’s glance swept over him, he had to gather all his strength to make sure he didn’t give anything away.

Finally, when everyone had left, he breathed a sigh of relief.

The abbot stood up, looked at his disciples with a calm yet forceful tone, "Go find them."

Worried they would really venture into the mountains, Liao Ran immediately stepped forward, "We don’t know what kind of beasts are hiding in the back mountains. Rushing there might be dangerous."

The abbot gave him a look, his face kind but his aura compelling, "The missing person is your fellow apprentice and someone who has been a benefactor to our Yunhe Temple. We have to search despite the dangers."

A chill ran down Liao Ran’s spine. He wanted to say more but was cut off, "This is why you don’t measure up to Liao Fan."
