Chapter 695: The Demon in Distress
Chapter 695: Chapter 695: The Demon in Distress
After looking around for a while, Gu Fan found a map on the wall. He studied it carefully, but couldn’t understand it, immediately deflating everyone’s hopes. If even Gu Fan, who had been here before, couldn’t understand it, there was little hope anyone else could.
"Don’t rush, everyone! Let me take another look, think even more, and study it further. A miracle might just happen." Gu Fan couldn’t understand the text on the map, but he could see the layout of the rooms and could infer the places he had previously visited.
Hearing this, hope sparked in everyone’s eyes once again. They eagerly watched Gu Fan, causing him to feel the pressuring weight of their expectations.
After roughly estimating, Gu Fan figured out where they should go and led the way, with everyone following him.
Lin Xi asked, "Gu Fan, how are you sure that Lisa will definitely be there?"
"Because that place is a lab, where a blue crystal is placed. This crystal is the key to becoming a Wandering Sea Ghost. Since Lisa is recruiting new Wandering Sea Ghosts, she must go to that room." Gu Fan’s inference made sense, and everyone chose to believe him.
With a grave look on his face, Gu Fan walked faster than anyone else, not because he was anxious to save the boss, but because he didn’t want Lisa to gain more manpower, making her even harder to deal with.
As Gu Fan quickened his pace, everyone sped up too, feeling the urgency of the situation. Fighting a group of powerful enemies in such a foreign place wasn’t promising, causing everyone to be on edge.
Finally, after running for a while, they arrived near the lab. However, they dared not approach carelessly, unsure of what difficulties lay within.
Because the lab’s door was tightly shut, they couldn’t see or hear anything inside, leaving them uncertain about their next move.
Hai grew anxious. "What’s the plan? We can’t just stand around here waiting."
"I know, let’s observe a bit longer," Gu Fan thought, sure that they wouldn’t stay inside forever without coming out.
Lu Yi had a question, "Gu Fan, what if you’re wrong? What if Lisa and her group aren’t in the lab at all? Wouldn’t we have come and waited for nothing?"
Gu Fan frowned. While this possibility wasn’t nonexistent, could there be a better direction right now?
Just then, a Wandering Sea Ghost emerged from the lab. The sound of Lisa’s cocky voice echoed from the open lab door, "I didn’t expect to capture someone who could be immortal. Can you imagine how happy I am? This feels like the luckiest day of my life."
The lab door closed, the voice stopped, and everybody guessed what was happening. It seemed the boss had indeed been captured and was in the lab.
In the face of unknown enemy situations, the logical course would be to wait patiently. However, Gu Fan didn’t want to wait as time was running out and Lisa’s forces could be increasing by the minute.
On the other hand, he feared a reckless attack might put everyone in danger. After much thought, he decided to use his old tactic and split into two teams: one to continue the standby while the other, with him, went to the dock where a large wooden ship was moored, as a diversionary attack.
Gu Fan knew how much Lisa and her Wandering Sea Ghosts valued the large ship. Losing it would restrict Lisa’s movements, and she would certainly come to rescue it.
As for who would attack the large ship, Gu Fan decided he and Lin Xi would go, while the others would wait for their chance to rescue the boss.
Lu Yi worried that this mission was too dangerous. Due to Lisa’s immunity to magic, Lin Xi couldn’t defeat Lisa.
Despite this, Gu Fan insisted there was no other way. He had to personally attack to draw Lisa away, providing the others a chance to rescue the boss. Once the boss recovered his fighting strength, they could potentially gain the upper hand.
That was the plan. Gu Fan urged everyone not to argue any further, and he and Lin Xi began to take action.
Ten minutes later, Lisa received news that Gu Fan had appeared at the docking location of the large ship, seemingly planning to hijack it.
"You disgusting kid, are you addicted to taking over ships?" Lisa was furious and growled at her subordinates, "How did this little brat get in again? And how did he know where the ship was docked?"
One of her subordinates timidly replied, "It seems like you’re the one who told him."
Hearing that, Lisa’s anger deflated instantly. Upon reflection, she realized she did seem to be the root of the problem. But without time to waste, Lisa called her subordinates to follow her and, not trusting to leave the boss alone, commanded everyone to bring him along.
As Hai, Jie, and the others hiding in the corner watched this unfold, they were taken aback. They hadn’t expected Lisa to be so clever. She didn’t split her forces or leave the boss behind with a few guards.
Watching Lisa and her group, followed by a few pirates and some of Hai’s former subordinates, they realized these people had become Wandering Sea Ghosts under Lisa’s coaxing and threat – Gu Fan’s worst fear.
The boss looked terrible, he was being forcefully taken away, the Wandering Sea Ghosts shoving him as they moved. He used to be an arrogant man with a reckless consideration for others, yet here he was. Everyone felt pity, not sympathy, and sighed inwardly.
Lu Yi grew anxious, "What now? Lisa has so many people with her. Gu Fan and Lin Xi are sure not their match."
"We have to take our chances now," Hai inhaled deeply and gestured for everyone to follow him.
"Just with this many people? Can we handle it?" Lu Yi shook his head, unable to be positive. Still, he steeled himself and followed.
At this moment, Gu Fan and Lin Xi had just dealt with the Wandering Sea Ghosts guarding the large ship. Without taking a breather, they urgently tried to figure out how to operate the ship to escape.
Looking at the control panel, Gu Fan started to panic. Last time, Lisa had operated it, but Gu Fan was busy fighting and hadn’t observed which switches Lisa had flipped.
Lin Xi suggested, "We’re running out of time, if we cannot operate this ship to get away, maybe we should find another way."
Upon her reminder, Gu Fan had an aha moment. He quickly grabbed Lin Xi’s hand and began to leave.
However, just as Gu Fan and Lin Xi reached the door, it flung open. But it wasn’t opened for them. The person Gu Fan least wanted to see had arrived.
Lisa appeared with a serious expression, her large group of subordinates in tow, and worst of all, she was escorting the captive boss. She looked upset.
"We’re trapped," Gu Fan and Lin Xi retreated. Although they kept some distance, they realized it wouldn’t guarantee their safety.
