Chapter 696: Chapter 696: Magic Immunity

Lisa swept her cold gaze around the room, shifting her attention from Gu Fan to Lin Xi. Suddenly, her eyes lit up with interest, "Well done, Gu Fan. I must admit, I’m impressed. Despite the doors being sealed, you managed to get in."

Gu Fan quickly put on a delighted expression, "Haha, I too don’t know how I did it. Perhaps our previous collaboration was so enjoyable that I just wanted to see you again."

Lisa squinted, not believing Gu Fan’s slick words, "If you were so eager to see me, Gu Fan, then why knock my subordinates unconscious?"

"Ah, they became your subordinates again. It appears as though you regained your power. Congratulations," Gu Fan quickly put on a relieved expression, and added, "Actually, my resolute decision to return was due to my concern about you. I was afraid you might get bullied once you’re back. I thought I could be of some help if I came back, but it turns out you’ve regained your power."

"Oh, really? Thanks then. It surely is surprising how you’re so considerate of me after only a few days of struggle together. Did you maybe fall in love with me?" Lisa raised the corner of her mouth, her face implying something more than words.

Gu Fan pretended to think, "I never thought about it before, but now that you mention it, it does seem like I have some feelings towards you."

Lin Xi was somewhat unhappy upon hearing this. Even though she knew Gu Fan was just stalling, she couldn’t bear Gu Fan flirting with another woman.

"Since you’re in love with me, why don’t you join the Wandering Sea Ghosts and spend eternity with me?" After speaking, Lisa made an inviting gesture, appearing sincerely interested.

Gu Fan immediately declined, "No, no, I don’t think it’s necessary to be with someone to love them. We belong to different worlds. Now that I know you’re safe, I feel relieved. I won’t bother you anymore. I’ll take my leave now." Saying this, he grabbed Lin Xi’s hand, hoping to bypass her.

However, with a single look from Lisa, other Wandering Sea Ghosts blocked their path, forcing Gu Fan and Lin Xi to retreat.

"You are free to leave, Gu Fan. You don’t have to become a Wandering Sea Ghost. However, I want this woman to stay. I could use a magicia like her as my subordinate," Lisa declared, her attention now focused on Lin Xi. She looked determined.

Gu Fan appeared to be troubled, "That’s not going to work. Look at how many subordinates you already have. You don’t need her."

"What if I insist?" Lisa was relentless. This annoyed Lin Xi who, without waiting for Gu Fan to speak up, stated, "If you want me, you’ll have to catch me first."

"Alright then. Once I’ve defeated you, you’ll realize your proper place is to be my underling." After finishing her declaration, Lisa snapped her fingers, prompting the other Wandering Sea Ghosts to rush in with intimidating ferocity.

Left with no choice, Gu Fan charged at them. Harnessing all his momentum, he leapt and crashed his knees into a Wandering Sea Ghost, sending him sprawling.

"Grab her!" Lisa’s eyes were fixated on Lin Xi, ignoring the whirlwind Gu Fan was causing.

However, Lisa had seriously underestimated Gu Fan. His aim wasn’t to fight. With a quick roll on the ground, he avoided several attacks before landing a beautiful combination of punches on those blocking the way.

Gu Fan wanted to rescue the boss as quickly as possible. He believed that with his combat skills, rescuing the boss wasn’t impossible.

But then, a sudden and fierce kick hit Gu Fan’s back, sending him flying. Gu Fan realized the gap between reality and his expectations. This kick only put him further away from the boss.

Lisa laughed triumphantly, "Oh Gu Fan, you can’t even protect yourself, yet you want to save someone else." With that, Lisa grabbed the boss’s head, lifted him up and showed his pitiful condition to Gu Fan, "Look at him, Gu Fan. He’s already half-dead. Even if you save him, he won’t be of help."

Seeing the boss in such a pathetic state, a chill ran down Gu Fan’s spine. His original plan of increasing his winning chance by adding the boss as a powerful ally seemed infeasible.

Three Wandering Sea Ghosts attacked Gu Fan together, each brutal punch and kick landing heavily, causing him to retreat step by step. Finally, a kick gave him an unbearably painful blow, leaving him panting heavily.

The three Wandering Sea Ghosts alone gave Gu Fan a hard time. There were nearly twenty such beings around Lisa, all thanks to the mermaid’s capture of many pirates, significantly increasing Lisa’s forces.

Despite the pain, Gu Fan managed to stand up. But before he could react, a heavy blow landed on his head, leaving his mind spinning.

Seeing Gu Fan in trouble, Lin Xi cast a spell. A Strong Wind was unleashed, sending the Wandering Sea Ghosts who dared to attack her flying back.

"Trying to save people? Can you get past me?" Lisa charged at Lin Xi in an instant, grabbing her by the throat and lifting her off the ground.

"Darn!" Lin Xi struggled, but her strength was no match for Lisa’s, and her spells were ineffective against Lisa. Faced with Lisa’s power, Lin Xi felt as helpless as a child.

Gu Fan was also pinned down by the Wandering Sea Ghosts. Lisa showed no mercy, "So you’re Lin Xi. I’ll give you a choice. If you want to save him, become a Wandering Sea Ghost. Become my subordinate. If not, you know what can happen if you refuse."

"Lisa, you’re so ruthless." Gu Fan barely started speaking before a Wandering Sea Ghost kicked him hard, silencing him with pain.

"That’s better!" Lisa laughed. The feeling of controlling the life and death of others was exhilarating.

Lin Xi didn’t surrender, continuously casting spells, although they were useless against Lisa. She began to feel a sense of powerlessness.

However, Gu Fan didn’t give up. In pain, he managed to shout, "Lin Xi, don’t be stupid, don’t agree to her. Being a Wandering Sea Ghost is not good. You’re not made to serve others."

"Shut up." A Wandering Sea Ghost landed another heavy kick on Gu Fan.

Lisa didn’t care, "So, what’s your decision? My patience isn’t endless. I’ll count to three."

Before Lin Xi could react, Lisa had started counting, her eyes filled with triumph. She was certain Lin Xi would surrender.

Just at this moment, shouts echoed from behind Lisa. Dread filled her heart. When she turned around, she was horrified to see another group had appeared. They attacked with the element of surprise, leaving the Wandering Sea Ghosts unprepared. They successfully managed to rescue the boss.
