Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 681: Beneath the Island
Chapter 681: Chapter 681: Beneath the Island
Quickly, the large wooden ship burst out of the base and into the ocean waters. However, even so, Gu Fan didn’t feel the surge of seawater, it was as if there was an energy field around the ship keeping the water away.
"Damn kid!" The Wandering Sea Ghosts were loathe to give up, trying to reclaim control of the ship.
Gu Fan and Su Hui would never agree to that, prompting a battle between the two groups. But outnumbered by the Wandering Sea Ghosts, Gu Fan and Su Hui found themselves at a disadvantage.
Fighting off three with only one, Gu Fan was getting a real beating. After a punch to his face, he almost collapsed.
When Gu Fan got up, he was stunned to discover the true nature of the island. The lower part wasn’t made of rock or earth, but was supported by vast buildings and numerous huge statues. It was like a city, and its architecture was similar to the buildings inside the floating island on Yuxueyun Mountain.
Gu Fan wanted to take a closer look, but he was out of time. The Wandering Sea Ghosts were launching another attack, forcing him back into the fight.
Lisa, Gu Fan, and Su Hui fought with all their strength, but facing ten times their number, they found the fight increasingly difficult and exhausting.
"Can’t we win? But I’m not willing to give up." Gu Fan was hit with another punch, staggering him. His legs gave way, and he fell to one knee.
A Wandering Sea Ghost charged forward, kicking Gu Fan hard and sending him crashing into a wall, the pain resonating from his core.
At this moment, the wooden ship finally burst out onto the surface of the sea. As Lisa had said, even in daylight, the Wandering Sea Ghosts could come out by using the large wooden ship. They were now standing firmly under the sunlight.
"Bastards, you’ve exposed us, but that doesn’t matter, we’ll finish you off soon." The Wandering Sea Ghosts had complete control of the situation, one of them stepping on Gu Fan.
At this point, Su Hui was also captured by the Wandering Sea Ghosts, falling to her knees, her strength drained.
Lisa was their only hope. However, she was barely able to ward off the enemies using the door of the control room. She was struggling to defend herself, let alone rescue Gu Fan and Su Hui.
A Wandering Sea Ghost sneered, "You all have done well to get this far, I respect your bravery and tenacity. Have any last words?"
Unmoved, Gu Fan replied, "First off, I believe my mission is not yet over, I absolutely will not fall here. Second, I absolutely won’t go down to the likes of you. And third, get your stinky foot off my face."
Listening to this, the surrounding Wandering Sea Ghosts couldn’t help but burst into laughter: "You’re so naive to think someone can save you at this point, unless there’s a miracle."
Just as the Wandering Sea Ghosts were gleefully laughing, a man silently boarded the ship. He stood behind them and coldly said, "You heard him, get your stinky foot off his face."
"What?" The Wandering Sea Ghosts turned in shock, finding a familiar face.
"I’ll only say it once, understand?" Lin Xi’s expression darkened, causing both Gu Fan and Su Hui to burst into laughter amidst their predicament. Luck was still on their side after all.
Not only Lin Xi had arrived, but several pirate ships too had come to lend assistance, rushing to provide backup.
The Wandering Sea Ghosts were trembling, the situation was drastically against them. They considered retreating back to the ocean, but they were reluctant to abandon the ship.
Su Hui shouted, "Lin Xi, don’t let them escape back into the sea, or else they’ll become the biggest threat out there."
"Don’t worry, none of them will escape." Lin Xi declared, her eyes flashing with a sharp light.
The Wandering Sea Ghosts clearly weren’t taking this lying down: "Just because you’re a woman, who do you think you are?" Following this, a few Wandering Sea Ghosts charged towards Lin Xi.
With a wave of her hand, Lin Xi conjured an upward gust of Qi, sending those unsuspecting Wandering Sea Ghosts flying into the air, then directed them towards the boss’s cargo ship.
The boss understood Lin Xi’s intention, ordering his subordinates to get ready. As soon as the Wandering Sea Ghosts fell, they lunged forward and restrained them. Now they were just waiting for the Wandering Sea Ghosts to run out of Qi and turn to ashes amidst their wailing.
"Seriously!" The Wandering Sea Ghosts cried out in shock. They hadn’t expected Lin Xi to be this strong, and to make matters worse, they were running out of Qi, their bodies showing signs of floating.
Lin Xi lifted her hand once more, gathering another gust of Qi to send a few more Wandering Sea Ghosts flying. This time, there was no need to direct them to the boss’s side. These Wandering Sea Ghosts simply ran out of Qi mid-air, struggling desperately before turning into ashes.
Losing seven comrades in an instant left the Wandering Sea Ghosts shaking. They wanted to run yet couldn’t bear to. Knowing they were unable to hold their ground, they decided to make a last-ditch effort to escape with Gu Fan and Su Hui as hostages—having them meant there was at least a chance for negotiation.
However, at this critical moment, the boss arrived. Launching from the air with a mighty leap, he stomped on the two Wandering Sea Ghosts holding Su Hui before kicking them away, turning them into ash in mid-air.
The remaining Wandering Sea Ghosts gave up their resistance, those that could, fled. One of them even dragged Gu Fan into the sea.
Lin Xi, fearless, dove into the sea after them. This was highly risky as the sea was the Wandering Sea Ghosts’ territory.
Having no choice, the boss understood the principle of mutual destruction. He too leapt into the sea. The Wandering Sea Ghosts were weakened now, and battling them in the sea wasn’t an entirely foolhardy idea.
At this moment, a pirate ship arrived, casting a net down that perfectly ensnared Gu Fan. With a united effort, they hoisted Gu Fan back onto the ship.
"Haha, this is the first time I’ve found pirates so adorable." Having narrowly escaped death, Gu Fan laughed.
Lin Xi and the boss came to Gu Fan’s side. Seeing that he was unharmed, they let out a sigh of relief, particularly Lin Xi, whose face suddenly darkened as she pulled Gu Fan’s ear, "Listen here, Gu Fan, you think this is funny? You have any idea how worried we’ve been?"
Gu Fan quickly pleaded for mercy with a repentant look on his face, "Ouch, please, Lin Xi, I made a mistake, please let me go, I didn’t mean to... I had no choice."
Meanwhile, Su Hui was rescued by another pirate ship, with some curious pirates choosing to stay aboard the large wooden ship instead of leaving.
Seeing this opportunity, Lisa quickly commanded the wooden ship to sink. As it submerged into the sea, the remaining pirates who hadn’t had the chance to cry out in shock were swept away with it.
Witnessing this scene, Gu Fan was initially flabbergasted, followed by a sigh of resignation. With the Qi from those few pirates, Lisa had enough to fully recover her strength, reclaim her position and power, and would probably be enemies with Gu Fan again.
Regardless, Gu Fan and Su Hui had managed to escape alive, and Gu Fan could already hear the cheers of his comrades.
