As soon as they got onboard, the team swarmed around them, their faces a mix of disbelief and ecstatic jubilation. Gu Ling in particular, threw herself into Gu Fan’s arms, "Brother, you’re alive, thank goodness! I knew your luck wasn’t that bad."

"Of course. How could I possibly leave you behind?" Gu Fan caressed Gu Ling’s nose, with a doting smile.

Lin Xi interjected, "In the days you disappeared, Gu Ling cried several times. She didn’t know how to face our parents. As an elder brother, you made your sister worry."

"Yeah, it seems I’m not doing a very good job as a brother." Gu Fan felt guilty. Just then, his friend Lu Yi walked over and punched him on the shoulder, "Gu Fan, you almost scared us to death."

Even Jie chimed in, "Exactly. I’ve lost sleep for many days."

Ouyang Jin looked unhappy, "Gu Fan, what do you mean? We were in the middle of settling a score. You can’t shirk your debts."

All heads began nodding in agreement as they stared at Gu Fan defensively. They clearly wanted him to drop any objections.

"Alright, alright. I get your points." Gu Fan felt helpless against them.

Du Jun mentioned, "You should thank Lin Xi, too. We all thought it was over and wanted to head back, but Lin Xi remained hopeful. She tracked the island using the clues you had left behind which allowed us to get here."

"Really? Thank you, Lin Xi." Emotions welled up in Gu Fan, grateful for having such a loving girlfriend.

Then, Gu Ling demanded recognition for her efforts, "Brother, I contributed too! When everyone else had given up, I was the one who encouraged Sister Lin Xi. She wouldn’t have hung on for you to come back without my encouragement."

"Alright, I know. I won’t forget your contribution." After saying this, Gu Fan couldn’t help but chuckle. Laughter soon spread among the group.

Once the laughter subsided, Gu Fan turned to Du Jun, "Thanks for telling me all this. Thank you once again."

Shrugging his shoulders, Du Jun replied, "It’s nothing, I’m just stating facts."

Remembering something crucial, Jie asked, "Now tell us, where on earth did you both go? How could you be safe when the island sank? It’s unthinkable!"

Everyone held their breath, looking at Gu Fan and Su Hui with anticipation, hoping for an exciting story.

Even the boss and Qian Feng looked intrigued. Since they were in a partnership now, Gu Fan keeping secrets would destroy the foundation of their trust.

So, Gu Fan recounted what he’d witnessed. There was indeed a secret base on that island. As for what was inside the base, Gu Fan couldn’t recall much as he was focused on escaping.

Upon hearing Gu Fan’s account, the first one to reply was Ouyang Jin, "Wait, you were in conflict with Lisa, then you were collaborating and now it seems like conflict is looming again?"

Nodding in agreement, Gu Fan said, "Now that Lisa’s back, she must have regained her previous influence. Even though we’ve taken out a large number of the Wandering Sea Ghosts and reduced their threat, we’re still no match for them in the sea."

Lu Yi put forth a suggestion, "Then we’ll wait for the island to resurface. We should all attack together this time, wipe out every Wandering Sea Ghost, every lizard creature, and then invade the base."

The boss nodded, "Right, it’s not the same anymore. We’re prepared and have some knowledge of them. They won’t pose a threat to us."

Listening to the boss’s tough talk, everyone felt more confident. They were ready to fight to the end and after all they’d been through, the island didn’t seem so mysterious anymore.

"Alright, next time, we’ll conquer the island!" Just as Gu Fan declared, his head started spinning and he almost collapsed. Luckily, those around him steadied him.

Lin Xi immediately rushed forward, "What’s wrong with you? You look terribly pale."

"Because Gu Fan..." Su Hui was cut off by a pointed look from Gu Fan before she could finish. Then Gu Fan explained, "I’m probably just very tired. I’m going to rest for a while, I hope you guys don’t mind."

Everyone consented without demur, "Alright, health is crucial. Go rest now, man."

With a feeble smile, Gu Fan left for his cabin, swaying as he walked. He appeared to be in a poor state.

"Brother, wait for me!" Gu Ling quickly came over to help him back to his room.

Now that Gu Fan and Su Hui were safe, everyone could breathe a sigh of relief. The congregation disbanded while everyone went off to attend to their own matters.

Just as Su Hui was about to leave, Lin Xi called out to her, "Wait, Sister Su, are you hiding something? Gu Fan looks really unwell and I refuse to believe it’s due to exhaustion or a simple illness. What really happened? And your encounter with Lisa, it couldn’t have been a simple alliance, could it?"

On hearing this, Su Hui was taken aback. Then, she broke into a knowing smile. "You’re very sharp, Lin Xi. I knew I couldn’t keep this from you."

"Did something happen to Gu Fan..." Lin Xi felt an ill omen, fearing the worst.

Upon making sure everyone was out of earshot, Su Hui leaned over to whisper in Lin Xi’s ear.

"What?! Gu Fan’s life force... Damn that Lisa!" After being informed of Gu Fan’s condition, Lin Xi was filled with a mixture of worry and fury, leaving her aghast.

With a worried expression, Su Hui asked, "Can’t you save him, Lin Xi?"

"It’s tough. Gu Fan’s condition is different from Hai’s. But I’ll figure something out, I won’t let anything happen to him." Lin Xi furrowed her brows in deep thought, apparently considering possible solutions.

Bringing forward a suggestion, Su Hui said, "Gu Fan might hold on for a while. If you can’t figure out a solution, perhaps Qian Feng could."

"With ancient Super Civilization’s advanced technology, the base might have some method to save Gu Fan." Gazing out at the sea with a streak of determination on her face, Lin Xi added, "From now, we must let Gu Fan rest and handle everything else ourselves."
