Chapter 389: Chapter 389: The Feeling of Going Home
In a suburb abroad, Liu Yao was packing up her things, getting a bit sweaty from the work. As the influence of the big boss had crumbled, Liu Yao was now free to return home. Upon hearing the news, Liu Yao was overjoyed; at last, she could return to her family, and finally, she could spend every day with her loved ones.
However, the only thing that saddened Liu Yao was the great sacrifice made by the two elders for this to happen. But Yuan Cheng reassured Liu Yao not to worry, as the elders felt much relieved now. They no longer had to carry the burden of stress every day, nor did they have to worry about this and that, preventing them from getting a good night’s sleep.
Liu Yao, now tired from packing, sent a message to Leng Le. She hoped they could meet the moment she got back. But she didn’t receive a reply for a long time, and Leng Le had not been in touch recently, which puzzled Liu Yao, as they had never gone a month without contact before.
Liu Yao felt something must have happened to Leng Le. She sent another message to Yuan Cheng, asking him to check if Leng Le had run into some trouble and, if so, to help her out.
After a brief rest, Liu Yao thoroughly checked her surroundings to ensure she hadn’t left anything behind. Then, taking a deep breath and grabbing her suitcase, she closed the door and set off for home.
Before she left, Liu Yao glanced at the house next door. She never had the chance to properly greet her neighbor or to have a little chat with the high school girl there. In the end, she left without fulfilling any of that.
"Never mind, I guess it was not meant to be." Liu Yao didn’t care too much and hailed a taxi straight to the airport.
In just two hours, Liu Yao arrived at the airport. As soon as she entered, she involuntarily quickened her pace. Her steps became light and joyful; it was as if her heart had already taken off, and she couldn’t wait to go home.
The airport was crowded. Liu Yao saw a familiar figure flash by in the crowd. Liu Yao was taken aback and then started searching for that figure but found no trace of it.
"Could it be, I’m just being overly sensitive?" Liu Yao frowned slightly. Since she couldn’t find the person, she didn’t insist. She thought to herself that if it was indeed her, they were fated to meet again.
Liu Yao began to wait quietly, with her plane ticket in her hand. She eagerly hoped to board the plane as soon as possible. She didn’t wish to waste a single second; only then did she realize how much she deeply loved Yuan Cheng. She genuinely wished to be by his side forever.
Finally, when it was time to board, Liu Yao was the first one to get on. She comfortably sat in the first-class cabin, looking forward to the moment of takeoff.
The flight from this foreign city to Liu Yao’s home city would take at least eight hours. During this time, Liu Yao decided to rest with an eye mask on, hoping to awake and find that they were close to arrival.
While she was asleep, Liu Yao had a dream in which she was horsing around an old house with a much younger girl. Then Liu Yao took this little girl out, and as they were walking on the road, they found a couple of dollars. They were thrilled and went to buy some goodies together.
"By the way, what’s your name?" Liu Yao asked the little girl in her dream. The girl replied, "Gu..."
Suddenly, the plane encountered strong turbulence. Liu Yao woke up, slightly panicked. She had taken numerous flights, but had never experienced such violent shaking. The plane felt like it was going to split in two.
"Oh no, God, this better not be a joke," Liu Yao silently prayed, hoping to make it back home safely.
But the plane kept shaking. Were it not for the seatbelts, every passenger might have been thrown about. Liu Yao even felt the plane was clearly out of control.
Not just Liu Yao, but many other passengers were in a state of tension, some even praying. The faces all around were far from optimistic—even the flight attendants looked worried.
Just when everyone had started to expect something terrible, the plane finally stopped shaking. It safely broke through the turbulent airflow and steadied its flight again.
Relieved, Liu Yao took a deep breath. The scare had been serious, but thank God it had passed harmlessly.
"Alright, alright, time to go back to sleep." Just as Liu Yao was preparing to put back on her eye mask, two flight attendants walked past her. One of them said, "Did you know? During that bout of turbulence, many people were scared out of their wits. But a high school-looking girl calmly declared that the plane wouldn’t crash and that she had a premonition it would return to normal in ten minutes."
The other flight attendant was astonished, "Wow, you don’t think she managed to guess it right, do you?"
"Actually, it did happen just as she said. Can you chalk this up to coincidence?"
Hearing this conversation, Liu Yao’s sleepiness vanished. She secretly wondered if the high school girl referred to by the two flight attendants was the same person she had in mind. She considered heading over to the economy class to check.
Driven by curiosity, Liu Yao left first class for economy class. As she walked down the aisle, she scanned the surroundings for a familiar face. But she was only half-way through when a flight attendant came over and motioned for her not to wander around as the plane was about to land.
Having no other option, Liu Yao returned to her seat. Though she didn’t find the high school girl, she was nonetheless thrilled at the prospect of landing, knowing that Yuan Cheng was waiting for her at the airport.
As soon as the plane landed, Liu Yao was the first to disembark. She saw Yuan Cheng waiting for her, which made her extremely happy. Without any hesitation, she ran towards him, oblivious to the eyes around her, and directly jumped into Yuan Cheng’s arms.
Yuan Cheng was also overjoyed, tightly embracing Liu Yao. The couple looked so happy that people around them couldn’t help but feel envious. It’s indeed nice to be a young couple.
"Okay, let’s go home now. We shouldn’t keep the elders waiting too long." Saying this, Yuan Cheng took the suitcase from Liu Yao and held her hand with his free one.
Yuan Cheng looked at Liu Yao, and she looked back at him. Both couldn’t help but laugh. It was a smile of happiness and joy, a reunion sweeter than the honeymoon.
Suddenly, amongst the crowd of the bustling airport, a familiar figure flashed across Liu Yao’s sight, startling her. Liu Yao quickly started searching for this person.
"What’s the matter? What are you looking for?" Yuan Cheng asked, puzzled. But Liu Yao didn’t find anything, so she sighed: "Nothing, I must have mistaken someone for someone else. Let’s go home."
A moment later, at another exit of the airport, a high school-looking girl with earphones on was stepping rhythmically to the music. When she saw a taxi, she hailed it.
"Bro, I’m back! From now on, you’ll see how I’m going to keep annoying you till you drop."
