Chapter 387: The Day of Meeting
Chapter 387: Chapter 387: The Day of Meeting
A very long time ago, in the dead of night, a carriage was slowly traveling down an empty street. The driver couldn’t help but yawn, rubbing his eyes. He gathered his energy, lifted the carriage curtain.
A young girl of about seven years of age, clothed in tatters and trembling, sat within the carriage. There was only fear in her eyes, tears welled up. She didn’t know where she was going to be taken.
The carriage driver commented, "Why are you crying? All the way here, you have done nothing but cry. It’s annoying."
The little girl was an orphan, taken care of by several relatives in turns since she was a child. After being tossed around from one relative to another, living in no fixed place, poorly fed and clothed, she suffered from many insults and rebuffs. The young girl endured injustices time and time again.
Now, due to financial difficulty, one of her relatives had sold her to a group of people of unknown origin. The girl didn’t have the ability to resist, she could only be taken away. She knew what was happening, and she was very scared.
Upon reaching their destination, an imposing house in the city, the carriage driver lifted her from the carriage and knocked on the back door. He brought her inside.
In the backyard, an elderly lady appeared. She glanced at the girl, handed over a sum of money to the carriage driver, and sent him away.
"From now on, this is where you live. You do what I say, and there will be food for you. But if you disobey, you will face the consequences." The old woman wore a stern expression, her demeanor was not pleasant. Her imposing air made the little girl bow her head in fear.
"Remember, your name from now on will be Qian Ye. You belong here." The old lady, indifferent, called over another girl of about ten years old and instructed, "Qian Feng, she is your younger sister from now on. You must teach her the rules here. If she makes a mistake, you will also be punished."
"I understand," Qian Feng bowed her head in obedience. When the old woman walked away, Qian Feng let out a sigh of relief. She looked at Qian Ye, who remained terrified, and smiled at her, "Come, I’ll take you to where we live."
Qian Ye hesitated slightly, then nodded stiffly. She followed Qian Feng as they left.
The two girls ended up in a small dark room, with just two small beds and modest furniture. It was like a place for servants.
But to Qian Ye, it didn’t matter. The place where she had lived before was no better, perhaps even worse. It was just that she was still fearful of this unfamiliar environment and didn’t know where she was.
"Here, let me help you get settled." Qian Feng busily prepared a bed. Then, she smiled at Qian Ye and greeted her, "This is where you sleep. I’m just beside you. In the night, you won’t be alone. You don’t have to be afraid."
Hearing these words, Qian Ye felt the other’s friendliness. She felt warmed and nodded. Then she climbed into bed.
So, on this day, the two little girls met, which changed both of their destinies along with many others.

Now, in a village near Yuxueyun Mountain, Lin Xi woke up from a dream. Upon realizing that it was just a dream, she sighed in relief, wiping the sweat from her forehead. Then she saw Su Hui, who was still peacefully asleep beside her.
Lin Xi couldn’t sleep anymore. Careful not to wake up Su Hui, she got up quietly, opened the door of the room and quietly slipped out.
Although it was cold outside, Lin Xi wasn’t scared as she was protected by her supernatural power. However, she was deeply troubled. She walked on the street alone, seeing the surrounding village plunged into darkness, she was somewhat worried.
Lin Xi knew that if the three members of the Shennv Xuanhui were still alive, they would come to settle scores with her sooner or later. How could she protect Gu Fan when that time comes? Considering safety, she thought it might be best if she and Gu Fan parted ways.
But Lin Xi was reluctant. They had gone through so much together and had finally gotten back together. Should she give up because of this insecurity?
It was better to be safe than sorry. Lin Xi crossed her arms, lost in thought.
The next day, everyone was ready to leave. Ouyang Jin had been stubbornly watching Du Jun, warning that if he did not pay his debts, he would not leave alive. Already prepared to perish together, Ouyang Jin felt he had nothing left to lose–a man who has nothing to fear is the most dangerous of all.
Under pressure, Du Jun paid Ouyang Jin a hefty sum before he was allowed to go.
Jie had been wondering about a member of the boss’s group, a tall man who looked familiar. Jie asked Gu Fan and Lu Yi if they felt the same way.
However, both Gu Fan and Lu Yi didn’t know who he was referring to, unanimously saying that Jie was overthinking. They even suggested that he might have been mistaken due to nerves.
"Is it really just my imagination?" Jie asked doubtfully, because the tall man closely resembled Hai.
Xu Haowen had been reporting to Professor Luo, the more he spoke, the more excited he became. He claimed that this time was a major discovery, that it literally opened his eyes. However, what Professor Luo cared about the most was the safety of his students, Xu Haowen and Qin Jia. Knowing that everyone was safe, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Everyone knew by now that Leng Le was sent by the boss. However, no one pitied Gu Fan. After all, he and Lin Xi were back together, and their relationship seemed better than before.
But no one congratulated Gu Fan, because one person’s mood hadn’t improved - Su Hui. Everyone knew about Zhuo Hang’s identity and suspected motives. Not only did he take advantage of Su Hui, he intended to sacrifice her.
What it feels like to be betrayed and stabbed by someone you deeply love; everyone wanted to console Su Hui but, noticing her cold and distant demeanor, they realized she was deeply saddened and refrained from offering comfort to avoid causing further harm, since none of them had experience in comforting others.
However, there was one person who was worse off than Su Hui- Du Changhui. Generations of waiting, decades of effort, the hope of a whole town shattered. Du Changhui seemed to age ten years overnight, his hair turned white.
As everyone prepared to leave, Ouyang Jin, who had been compensated handsomely, waved them off with a smile. Old man Tian didn’t come to say goodbye, claiming that his health wasn’t good and he needed to rest at home.
"Goodbye, don’t ever call on us to guide you again. You all stay home and don’t bring disaster upon others by wondering around without purpose," Ouyang Jin waved, his demeanor suggested that he wanted them to leave as soon as possible.
His words sounded strange but they knew he wasn’t just being polite, this showed that their friendship was real.
So everyone, with their varying feelings, embarked on the journey home, and the new challenge would soon begin.
