Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 386: The Awakened One
Chapter 386: Chapter 386: The Awakened One
In the icy wilderness, Ning Qi, a mere woman, was pressing forward alone. She had been walking for several days, her legs barely able to carry her. She trembled in the cold wind, not from the chilling temperature, but from fear.
The rifle in her hand was her only lifesaver. As Ning Qi walked, she carefully watched her surroundings for any signs of impending danger, afraid that a wolf might appear out of nowhere.
"Damn you, Gu Fan, for deserting me and driving me away," said Ning Qi, resentment surging within her heart. Why? She, a beautiful woman, had put herself out there only to receive such treatment.
Ning Qi regretted not having Hu Bo shoot Gu Fan when they had the chance, which would have left her protected by a reliable companion, rather than the isolation she was experiencing.
Ning Qi’s original plan was to use Gu Fan and his team to fulfill her objectives. But Gu Fan had ignored her, focused instead on awaiting Lin Xi.
Su Hui and Lu Yi didn’t pay any heed to Ning Qi either. Throughout their journey, none of them had given Ning Qi any consideration, essentially marginalizing her.
Unable to endure this indignity, Ning Qi left the party, going after the treasure alone. If Gu Fan treated her that way, she resolved to claim all the treasure for herself.
Thanks to her sharp memory, Ning Qi found the hideout where the treasure was buried. As she opened the entrance and went inside, she planned to take as much as she could. Then she would start her own business and have all the best men at her feet, making Gu Fan regret his treatment of her.
"Gu Fan, you will regret not partnering up with me," said Ning Qi as she started packing the piles of gold, silver, and jewels around her, focusing on the most valuable pieces due to carrying limitations.
Accidentally, Ning Qi made contact with the ledge which bung, tumbling over to reveal a door behind it, leaving Ning Qi flabbergasted.
Considering the amount of treasure outside, the interior must hold even greater fortune. Ning Qi pictured Gu Fan choking on his regret.
As she shone her flashlight on the door she saw a pattern etched into it - a phoenix soaring with wings spread wide, its body forming the ancient character for "mysterious". Quite a unique design.
Without any hesitation, she pushed the door to get a glimpse of what lay beyond, but it wouldn’t budge. She heaved with all her might until finally forcing the door open.
Driven by curiosity, Ning Qi entered the chamber. It was vast. Surely, it hid more treasure. She quickly shone her flashlight around, only to be met with an empty space. There was nothing.
"What’s that?" Noticing something in the distance, she tentatively crept closer, keeping her flashlight pointed at the three objects, not daring to let her guard down.
Once she got closer, Ning Qi recognized them as what appeared to be sleep capsules she had seen on a floating island before, their glass fronts masked by a white film.
"Why are these things here?" Ning Qi wondered, circled around the sleep capsules, and discovered that the white film on the glass could be wiped away.
"This..." Ning Qi frowned and bravely wiped away more of the white film, revealing a figure lying inside the chamber.
When she had cleared away a large patch of the white film, Ning Qi saw a body lying inside the sleep capsule, a woman by all appearances.
After a while, Ning Qi had wiped away most of the film and saw a beautiful woman, in ancient clothing, lying there peacefully, her breathing faint but her complexion healthy. It seemed as if she was merely sleeping.
"How odd..." Ning Qi wondered about the identity of the woman and how long she had been in a dormant state. Should she wake her?
On second thought, Ning Qi backed out, not daring to involve herself in such a strange situation. Who knew what kind of dangers the sleeping woman might pose? It was best to keep her distance.
Just as Ning Qi was about to leave, she took another glance at the slumbering woman. Was it an illusion or was her breathing getting quicker? Her complexion seemed to grow ruddier too.
"What is happening?" Before Ning Qi could figure out what was going on, the woman’s eyes snapped open, exuding a sharp glare that pierced Ning Qi’s soul.
Ning Qi was terrified, her face lost all colour, and she nearly collapsed to the ground. She began fleeing, trying to get as far away from the sleep capsule as possible.
Run! Just run! Ning Qi rushed towards the door, towards her only hope of escape, but all of a sudden, the door slammed shut, blocking the only way out.
Ning Qi couldn’t escape, a wave of horror washed over her. She could feel something standing behind her, fear made her break out into a cold sweat.
The sleep capsule stood upright, then the glass cover opened, giving off a sound that made Ning Qi slowly turn back. She saw the woman walking out of the capsule, looking at Ning Qi with a sinister smile.
With each step the woman took, Ning Qi retreated, but to where? Ning Qi was eventually backed into a corner.
"Come!" The woman beckoned, and Ning Qi’s body unwillingly moved in her direction, turning her face white with fright.
In a swift motion, the woman grabbed Ning Qi by the throat. She reveled in Ning Qi’s fear and futile struggling, gesturing for her to be silent.
Ning Qi’s eyes briefly met the woman’s, then she lost consciousness and collapsed.
The woman held onto Ning Qi, then closed her eyes, sensing something profoundly.
After what felt like an eternity, the woman released Ning Qi, letting her lie on the ground. She didn’t seem intent on taking Ning Qi’s life, but rather seemed interested in preserving it. She smirked and murmured to herself, "So Qian Ye has reincarnated. Good timing, as I’ve also woken up. It seems that fate can’t be escaped. It’s high time for us to settle this old score."
She glanced back at the other two sleep capsules and remarked with a chuckle, "I’m sorry, dear sisters. Looks like I’m ahead of you both once again. I’m off to meet this Lin Xi. I believe it’s going to be quite entertaining."
Meanwhile, Gu Fan and Lin Xi returned to their starting point, the village, with assistance from the rescue team. They reunited with the rest of the group, their emotions soaring, barely able to contain their relief.
Just as they were celebrating their safe return and lamenting on their ordeal, Lin Xi felt something. She glanced towards Yuxueyun Mountain, her heart pounding unusually; a bad premonition crept up on her.
