Chapter 370: Chapter 370 Everyone is Here

"Sorry, if we were the sort to simply submit, we wouldn’t have made it this far," Jie said, adopting a fighting stance. Having learned a thing or two at the fighting club with Gu Fan, he thought he might be able to handle the situation.

Watching his brother Jie prepare to fight, Hai, feeling a headache coming on, scratched his head. "You don’t have what it takes, so why are you still trying to show off?" he asked.

"Enough talk, we’ll see if I can fight or not in a bit." With those words, Jie surprisingly launched the first attack, directly challenging Hai.

"Really? Of all people, you have to pick a fight with me." Hai didn’t want to hurt Jie, so he could only defend passively.

Although Jie was giving his all with his punches and kicks, his moves couldn’t reach Hai at all. They were all blocked. Furthermore, Hai’s scoffs only aggravated Jie’s desperation.

Xu Haowen, Ouyang Jin, Luo Jingrong, and old man Tian were also engaged in fights with Hai’s subordinates. However, whether in terms of numbers or in terms of fighting ability, they were clearly outmatched.

Xu Haowen, a usual bookworm, was punched and kicked, utterly bewildered by the situation.

Luo Jingrong, a pampered rich man usually protected by others, fought back fiercely. Knowing he would lose, he clung to one of the opponents, their fight turning into an unsightly wrestling match.

Ouyang Jin had some physical prowess but was being beaten by Cui Qi, the female supervisor who had trained him and the other new recruits. After one round, a punch left Ouyang Jin’s nose bleeding. He lamented the women’s startling ferocity.

Despite being the oldest of the group, old man Tian was no pushover. He knocked down one opponent, then slammed a second to the ground. He seemed to be the only one with an advantage.

Seeing that his side was in a disadvantaged position, Jie hurriedly quickened his offensive, his punches becoming more desperate and forceful.

"Wait a minute, little brother, are you serious?" Hai had been lenient with Jie, but the situation had become precarious. Then Hai let out his strength and with a single punch, he knocked Jie’s arms aside, almost hitting Jie’s face.

Hai had hoped that his punch would show Jie the gap in their abilities and prevent him from doing anything reckless.

At first, Jie was stunned by the sheer force of Hai’s punch. Then, his expression hardened. Regardless of whether he was outmatched, he continued his ferocious attack.

"Little brother, don’t you know when to retreat?" Hai hadn’t expected Jie to be so relentless. He could only defend as much as possible, steadily retreating, hoping that the others would deal with their opponents and help him suppress Jie.

After a while, even though Hai had the upper hand, they were unable to subdue Jie’s side. Then, the walkie-talkie hanging from his waist emitted the boss’s voice: "How’s it going? Are things done yet?"

"Don’t worry, I’ll handle it now." Hai finally couldn’t bear it anymore and launched his attack, dealing a heavy blow to Jie’s chest. Jie was kicked back a considerable distance.

"No way, did he really hit me?" Jie fell hard to the ground, clutching his aching chest. He had always thought that the masked man had been lenient during the previous fights. Now he had finally exploded.

Seeing Jie on the ground, clutching his chest and crying out in pain, Hai was somewhat concerned. "Little brother, don’t blame me, you pushed me too far."

By this point, Xu Haowen had pretty much been beaten to a pulp, while Luo Jingrong had gone from wrestling with one of their opponents to being pinned to the ground. The entire process had only lasted a short while.

Ouyang Jin was not faring any better against the female manager. He assumed a "no more fighting, I surrender" posture.

"Alright, tie them all up." Just as Hai felt he was in control, a light voice echoed from behind him: "Hold on, I haven’t agreed to this yet. You’re bullying my friends, and you’re even outnumbering them. That’s not very fair."

"What? Could it be?" Hai turned around in horror, only to see Gu Fan leaning against the doorframe, the corners of his mouth twisted into an ambiguous smirk.

Jie and Ouyang Jin were overjoyed to see their stalwart companion. It was as if they’d seen hope. They even started laughing: "My God, Gu Fan, you’re really still alive. Long live friendship. Long live friendship."

"Yeah, it’s good to be alive." Gu Fan was also very happy to see everyone safe. Then Lu Yi burst out from behind Gu Fan with a cheerful expression: "Long time no see, everyone. It seems like you all need our help quite a bit."

Upon hearing this, Jie couldn’t help but laugh. "Haha, Gu Fan, you must’ve suffered a lot living with Lu Yi, that doomsayer."

Lu Yi wasn’t amused. "What’s that supposed to mean? I came to help you out of kindness, and you’re all ganging up on me. You’re really hurting my feelings."

Hai was slightly irritated by the banter between Lu Yi, Gu Fan, and Jie. "Hey, hey, hey, look at the situation. Don’t tell me you think a few more people can change the outcome."

"It depends on who those extra people are." Lin Xi stepped out from behind Gu Fan, the corners of her mouth curled up in a confident smile. Her appearance signaled the end of the need for further fighting. Apart from the boss, who could possibly stand up to Lin Xi?

Hai’s heart sank. The situation had taken a drastic turn. Now, it wasn’t about capturing hostages anymore, but avoiding becoming hostages instead.

"To thank you for making such a commotion and attracting us here so that we could reunite, I’ll let you guys off. You can go." After saying that, Gu Fan opened up a path for them.

"No way, you’re letting us go just like that? Is there a catch?" Hai hesitated for a moment, then he saw a few more people standing behind Gu Fan, one of whom was Leng Le. Leng Le gave Hai a signal to leave and not to hesitate.

"Fine, you guys got us this time." Dropping this statement, Hai took his men and quickly left.

Gu Fan wasn’t being kind. He didn’t want to forcefully keep Hai, as that would reveal Hai’s identity to Jie.

With the boss gone, Gu Fan finally let out a sigh of relief. He looked over Jie and the others again. Noting that some people were missing, he asked, "Has anyone seen Sister Su and Zhuo Hang?"

"We were together before we ran into the boss. Su Hui lured the boss away so we could escape. We don’t know what happened to her," Jie answered.

Hearing this, Gu Fan became worried. "Please, Sister Su, don’t overdo it. Hang in there until we can come and help you."
