Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 1436: Alone and Without Help
Chapter 1436: Chapter 1436: Alone and Without Help
Gu Fan had heard that after mutation, the vampires stopped fearing sunlight, were unbothered by wooden stakes, their strength increased, and their speed quickened, but they lost all sense of reason, making them incredibly difficult to deal with.
Now four mutated vampires were pouncing on Gu Fan, all of them frenziedly biting at him, which caused them to shove each other around, inadvertently giving Gu Fan a chance to break free.
"Get lost, all of you, get lost!" Gu Fan rammed his head into the mouth of one mutated vampire, shattering all of the creature’s teeth, rendering it unable to bite.
Although the mutated vampires were irrational, their movements were full of flaws. Once Gu Fan steadied himself, he watched for the incoming vampires and with a punch for each, knocked them all to the ground.
To confirm a theory, Gu Fan took out a wooden stake and pierced it through the heart of a mutated vampire. Resultantly, the creature seemed unharmed and stood back up.
Gu Fan’s expression darkened as he realized one thing: if in this laboratory, Organization X managed to take back control and further perfect their experiment, there would be no one in the world who could stand against Organization X.
Three other mutated vampires charged at him again, but Gu Fan dodged them all.
Growling furiously, the mutated vampires continued their relentless attack on Gu Fan. Their speed was so great that Gu Fan barely managed to evade each assault.
"Damn it, this never ends." Occasionally failing to dodge, Gu Fan was entangled by a mutated vampire but was always able to use his utmost speed to throw the creature off, avoiding the predicament of being surrounded again.
Gu Fan wanted to escape several times, but the persistent mutated vampires kept chasing him. In terms of speed, Gu Fan could not hope to shake off these mutated leeches.
"There’s no other way!" Gu Fan pulled out a vial of blue blood, ready to use it against the mutated vampires.
According to previous experiments, vampires reverted to humans after consuming the blue blood, and humans gained temporary strength enhancement. However, it was unknown what effect the blue serum would have on these mutated vampires.
With his life hanging by a thread, Gu Fan smeared the blue blood all over his arms, then bravely extended his limbs for the mutated vampires to bite.
Having lost all reason, the mutated vampires did not notice anything unusual and began biting Gu Fan’s arm.
The mutated vampires couldn’t break through Gu Fan’s Vajra Body Protection, but in their frenzy, they ended up ingesting the blue blood on his arm, and it quickly elicited a reaction.
One mutated vampire started howling in pain, rolling on the ground, convulsing, and appearing to suffer unimaginable torment.
The rest of the mutated creatures also started exhibiting similar symptoms, falling to the ground one by one, howling in agony while writhing and flailing wildly.
"Holy shit, it’s so potent, so effective." Gu Fan observed carefully, hoping that these mutated creatures would revert to their original state.
Moments later, the mutated creatures were no longer in excruciating pain or howling. They lay silently on the ground, motionless, no longer posing any threat to Gu Fan.
Gu Fan didn’t understand what had happened, so he gathered his courage to investigate and found that while the mutated vampires’ hearts were still beating, they were all unconscious.
Although Gu Fan didn’t know what had happened, he was relieved to have gotten rid of the mutated vampires, content without expecting anything else.
Just then, gunfire erupted, along with roars and screams.
"Damn it!" Gu Fan hurried to the defense position; he couldn’t abandon Li.
But as Gu Fan ran a short distance, he saw many people running towards him, all of them terrified to the point of incontinence, including ordinary soldiers and vampires.
Gu Fan watched these people rush past him and quickly grabbed one to ask, "What’s going on, why have you abandoned the position so quickly?"
"The position be damned, it’s completely indefensible, the weapons are utterly useless." After saying this, the person broke free from Gu Fan and quickly made a panicked retreat.
Gu Fan thought about it and realized it made sense; the temporary barriers constructed from junk were not sturdy at all. How could they possibly hold back the onslaught of mutant vampires?
As more and more people from the defensive position fled past him, Gu Fan still hadn’t seen Li, and he became anxious. He couldn’t leave his comrade behind, but he also knew what must be happening at the defense site.
For the group to be so swiftly routed, it had to be more than just one or two mutant vampires attacking; there must be many of them—meaning Gu Fan was about to face a significant risk if he returned.
"No choice now!" Gu Fan took out a dagger, sliced open his palm, and let the blood flow.
Gu Fan’s blood, initially red, turned blue after some time, and this special blood was his capital for survival in this place.
Gu Fan hurriedly smeared the blue blood on his arms, neck, shoulders, and legs.
Once ready, Gu Fan took a deep breath and then charged forward, imagining in his mind the defense position being obliterated, a sight too ghastly to bear.
The closer he got, the more he could hear the roars and screams, but not a single gunshot, indicating that everyone’s will to resist had completely collapsed.
When Gu Fan charged into the fray, he saw a scene of flesh and blood flying everywhere; both humans and vampires were either fleeing or being torn apart by the mutant vampires.
A vampire was struggling against a mutant vampire, but due to the disparity in strength, the vampire was overpowered, his neck bitten by the mutant vampire, followed by a sharp scream of agony.
Vampires were always the predators, but who would have thought that they could also become the prey?
Although Gu Fan didn’t have much sympathy for these vampires, feeling they had it coming, the unfortunate truth was that these vampires were now his comrades, and he had to rescue them.
Gu Fan strode over, grabbed the mutant vampire, twisted its head off directly, and then punched it away.
"How are you doing!" Gu Fan took a good look at the bitten vampire and saw the wound on his neck healing quickly.
The vampire looked in pain and hadn’t yet managed to thank Gu Fan when he suddenly convulsed, followed by another convulsion, and roared continuously, his eyes turning from all black to gray-white, undergoing some transformation.
"Fuck, I just saved you, don’t tell me you’re transforming into a mutant vampire too." Gu Fan sighed, suddenly sensing something amiss. He looked back and, my, what a scene—he was now surrounded by several mutant vampires.
With his comrades either defeated or fled, Gu Fan was now alone in enemy territory, isolated and outnumbered.
