Chapter 1435: Mutant Vampire

Chapter 1435: Chapter 1435: Mutant Vampire

Experimental Zone No. 1 had many signs, but most of them pointed to the exit, restaurant, and other insignificant places.

Gu Fan had searched for a long time without seeing a sign pointing to Experimental Zone No. 2, and he thought to himself that if he were Organization X and didn’t want intruders to find Experimental Zone No. 2 so easily, he certainly wouldn’t create a sign for it.

The others had been searching all the way, feeling nervous and scared, and under these circumstances, no one noticed Gu Fan lagging behind at the end of the group.

Gu Fan saw an opportunity. At a corner, he deliberately didn’t keep up, then left the group behind as he set out to find Experimental Zone No. 2.

"It’s here, it’s here." Gu Fan quickened his pace, shining his flashlight here and there, feeling that the corridors here were all similar to each other. After running for a while, he felt as if he was going in circles.

Thank goodness, finally, Gu Fan found a room. But what exactly was behind this room? Could it be that as soon as the door opened, he would see lots of mutant vampires?

"Come on, let’s see how my luck is today," Gu Fan took a deep breath, ready for the situation to be dangerous and to turn and run. Then he kicked the door open and quickly shone his flashlight inside.

"Hello, is anyone there? Sorry to disturb you, I hope you don’t mind," said Gu Fan as he slowly moved forward, scanning his surroundings, and finding not a single soul inside.

Safe at last, it looked like luck was on his side. Gu Fan breathed a sigh of relief and began to search the room to see if there was anything useful.

Soon, Gu Fan was attracted to a drawing on the wall; it was a map of the place, and it marked the entrance to Experimental Zone No. 2. What excited Gu Fan even more was that Experimental Zone No. 2 was not far from his current location.

Just when Gu Fan felt that his luck was too good, the sound of gunshots and screams suddenly from outside made him tense up instantly.

What made Gu Fan even more fearful was the animal-like low growling, filled with a sense of murderous intent.

"Fuck, at this time..." Gu Fan quickly closed the door, his heart pounding.

Soon, the sound of gunshots and screams disappeared, leaving only the growling that made Gu Fan’s hair stand on end. He didn’t dare to imagine how terrifying the mutant vampires could be. He didn’t want to encounter them at all.

After waiting a while, the growling finally stopped, and Gu Fan didn’t hear any noise from outside. But he was still not reassured, not daring to leave, and continued to stay in the room.

Gu Fan began to study the map: his location, the defensive positions set up by Xue Lang, and the entrance to Experimental Zone No. 2.

In theory, the entrance to Experimental Zone No. 2 was close to Gu Fan. He could take his chances there, but that would mean going in alone, which was very dangerous.

Should he go and join Xue Lang and Li? Gu Fan started thinking about whether it was appropriate to leave the main group now.

In the end, Gu Fan decided to return the same way, to face the danger together with everyone else. Most importantly, he couldn’t leave Li behind.

Gu Fan quickly pressed against the door, listening for any noises outside, and found that it was very quiet, as if the danger had passed.

"Forget it, I can’t stay here forever," Gu Fan resolved and then opened the door. He walked out slowly, checked both ends of the corridor to confirm that it was empty, and quickened his pace to leave the place.

However, as Gu Fan walked along, just around a corner, he was suddenly stunned.

A person stood straight ahead with their back towards Gu Fan, their body bent over as if they were exhausted.

Gu Fan noticed that the person’s uniform was the same as his, signaling that they were likely a companion. He wondered how they ended up here, perhaps they had gotten separated and lost after the recent attack.

"No, something’s not right!" Gu Fan had been shining the flashlight for quite a while now, but the person kept their back turned to him. That didn’t make sense.

Gu Fan slowly started to back away, hoping silently that the other person hadn’t noticed him, that he hadn’t been spotted.

Suddenly, Gu Fan’s retreat was halted by an obstacle he bumped into, sending a chill down his spine as he heard the growls of wild beasts close to his ears.

"As I feared, I’ve encountered them." Gu Fan immediately braced himself, swiftly turning around and throwing an elbow strike onto something.

Gu Fan’s strength was immense, knocking the object behind him off-kilter. On a closer look, it wasn’t just one; five more were there.

Roar, roar, roar, all five mutated vampires leaped at him, knocking Gu Fan down. It was then that he realized the gravity of the situation.

The brief contact was enough for Gu Fan to sense the madness of the mutated vampires, which was even wilder than that of beasts. He could feel his body being torn apart, and he desperately tried to defend himself with the Vajra Body Protection.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch!" Ordinarily, a vampire’s bite wouldn’t cause Gu Fan pain, but these mutants had managed it, a testament to their formidable strength.

Despite the pain, his Vajra Body Protection was impenetrable, leaving him completely unharmed.

"Enough already, got your fill?" Gu Fan struggled fiercely, kicking one mutated vampire away followed by a second one with another forceful kick.

Mutated vampires were strong; the remaining three still pinned Gu Fan down, preventing him from getting up.

Although the Vajra Body Protection was unbreakable, it had a time limit. Once Gu Fan’s strength ran out, he would lose the shield’s protection and eventually be torn to shreds.

Left with no other option, Gu Fan continued to kick wildly, pedaling his legs as if cycling, eventually managing to send all the mutated vampires flying.

Finally free, Gu Fan hurried to his feet but was not steady when a mutated vampire bit into his neck.

"F***!" Gu Fan grabbed the mutated vampire’s head but couldn’t shake it off. The vampire seemed determined to tear a piece flesh from Gu Fan’s body and wouldn’t easily give up.

"So you’ve got some good teeth, huh?" Gu Fan landed a punch right on the mutant vampire’s mouth, his powerful fist knocking out several teeth, making it impossible for the vampire to hold on any longer.

However, no sooner had Gu Fan shaken off one attacker than he saw the rest advancing towards him again.

Gu Fan was in no mood for a fight; he took off running, all the while not forgetting to pull out his tranquilizer gun and firing while he fled.

The mutated vampires charged at him, unfazed by the tranquilizers, and quickly caught up, tackling and pinning Gu Fan to the ground with their numerous limbs.

"What the hell, Organization X? Your weapon is useless, what crappy research." Furious, Gu Fan tossed the tranquilizer gun aside, seriously considering lodging a complaint against Organization X for the first time.
