Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 1387: Dark Ambush
Chapter 1387: Chapter 1387: Dark Ambush
Lie Dian let out a thunderous roar, and a massive current of electricity erupted all at once. With one swipe of his hand, a torrent of lightning surged forward, electrocuting a vampire into charred remains on the ground.
Lie Tie, seizing the opportunity, immediately sprinted over and finished off those vampires who had lost their ability to move with wooden spikes.
"Again!" Lie Dian took aim at another vampire and then released another bolt of lightning with his palm.
The vampire, relying on speed, narrowly escaped; it secretly rejoiced at having dodged a bullet. But Lie Dian’s second strike swiftly followed. This time, the vampire had no way to avoid it and was caught in the current.
And so, Lie Dian was responsible for knocking down the vampires, while Lie Tie was tasked with delivering the fatal blow. Working in tandem, they quickly took care of five vampires.
However, a quick resolution to the fight came at a cost—Lie Dian, having expended too much energy, was now deathly pale and kneeling on one knee, gasping for air, appearing extremely weakened.
Previously, after releasing a current of electricity, Lie Dian would need to accumulate a bit of electrical energy before releasing another, to maintain stamina for prolonged combat. Now, after unleashing so much in one go, it felt as though his body had been hollowed out, which can best be described as the difference between long-distance running and sprinting.
"Are you okay?" Lie Tie came over to check on his comrade when suddenly, out of the darkness, a whistling sound—the swipe of a flying knife brushed past Lie Tie’s ear and plunged relentlessly through Lie Dian’s throat.
Lie Dian slumped onto the ground, his eyes wide open in shock, still not understanding how he had been taken down.
"This..." Lie Tie saw his companion fall, his eyes filled with panic, which was gradually replaced by a surge of rage.
"Damn it, show yourself." Lie Tie was furious, his fists clenched, his muscles bulging with anger.
Gu Fan watched from the shadows, sighing inwardly that one righteous person had been killed off just like that, and another, instead of running away, was obviously facing an incredibly skilled enemy in the darkness.
But Lie Tie, driven by anger and no longer thinking rationally, charged forward.
At this moment, Li grew worried. "Hey, Tai, if you’ve seen enough, I think we’d better leave."
Gu Fan was somewhat reluctant to leave. He was well aware of the origins of these individuals with special powers; if he could forge ties with them, it would be even better to face Organization X together.
Urge by Li’s repeated promptings, Gu Fan followed him to leave, preparing to exit through the warehouse’s main door. The sounds of battle around them remained fierce, the scene reminiscent of a treacherous battleground enveloped in deep trouble and fierce flames.
"We need to get out of here quickly, it’s too dangerous." Li had just reached the warehouse’s door when he was stunned to see several people sneaking around just like him, apparently planning to retreat from the battle.
The small group exchanged glances, a silent agreement among them to escape together.
However, as Li and another person stepped out, Xue Long came crashing down from the sky, his body heavily slamming into the ground, creating a tumultuous and unsightly scene.
With hearts pounding, they were unsure whether to help Xue Long or to quickly flee back into the warehouse.
Xue Long had made a large crater where he fell; he clawed at the edge of the pit, then slowly stood up. His face was covered in dust, but his eyes were filled with murderous intent.
Xue Long completely ignored those who were deserting the battlefield; he lifted his head, his gaze firmly locked on something above.
Everyone followed Xue Long’s gaze and looked up, curious about who could have defeated Xue Long.
A striking man stood in the air, feet on a flying sword, hands behind his back. He towered above them all with an air of unparalleled arrogance.
"Impressive, no wonder the Hunter’s Guild bestowed the title of Hunter upon you; your reputation is well-deserved." These words from Xue Long also revealed the man’s identity—the Hunter who made many vampires tremble with fear.
Li watched the sword-riding figure in the sky, his heart surging with admiration. This kind of person, with such abilities, was exactly what he aspired to be.
At this moment, Gu Fan hid in the background, secretly marvelling, "Why has the Hunter shown up? Is he here to protect Lin Xi? As long as he isn’t a romantic rival, I welcome him a thousand times over."
"Wait a second, if the Hunter is here, then those people with special abilities just now were..." Suddenly, Gu Fan perked up with excitement. He had been hoping to make friends with a few righteous individuals, but now it seemed unnecessary.
Just then, a figure approached Gu Fan silently from behind. A dagger reached out and slowly pressed against Gu Fan’s neck.
Lie Ye moved neither too quickly nor too slowly, but in a way that evaded detection. He secretly exulted and applied pressure; the blade grazed Gu Fan’s throat.
However, the expected spray of blood did not occur. Instead, a powerful punch hit Lie Ye on the head and sent him flying.
"Damn, that was close." Gu Fan touched his neck, a tremor of fear in his heart, relieved that he had not let his guard down and had maintained Vajra Body Protection, otherwise things might have ended badly.
Annoyed, Gu Fan knew he had to retaliate. Despite the assailant being a force for good, that attack nearly cost him his life, so he needed to reclaim his dignity.
However, Gu Fan’s irritation quickly shifted to astonishment, as he saw a figure retreating swiftly, slowly disappearing from his view, blending into the darkness as if merging with it.
"What the..." Gu Fan pricked up his ears, but heard no sound, as if the other had really vanished.
"No one on the left, no one on the right, where did they go..." Unable to find his opponent, Gu Fan grew anxious and continued to employ Vajra Body Protection just in case.
Suddenly a playful laugh rang out, "You’re as impervious as Lie Tie, I actually thought I had picked an easy target."
Gu Fan frowned, the voice shifting from left to right, sometimes far, sometimes near, as if the speaker was moving rapidly around him.
With a smile tugging at his lips, Gu Fan crossed his arms, an intrigued expression on his face, not minding the recent ambush at all. The greater his opponent’s skill, the happier Gu Fan was; dealing with a behemoth like Organization X required many capable people.
Lie Ye observed Gu Fan, sensing that the man was too composed, as if he had complete confidence in handling the situation.,
For a moment, Lie Ye was intimidated and dared not attack rashly.
But Gu Fan was undeterred; he wanted to return to the battlefield and truly witness the capabilities of these remarkable individuals.
Just as Gu Fan took a step, a thunderous noise erupted, and the wall collapsed with a crash, nearly startling Gu Fan.
"What’s going on? Could it be..." Gu Fan immediately ran towards the fallen wall, and then he saw Tai and the others also rushing in.
