Chapter 1382: Chapter 1382: Hunting, Counter-Hunting
"What’s going on, what the hell is happening inside?" Gu Fan and Li looked at the warehouse door with panic-stricken faces, dead nervous.
Gunshots continued inside the warehouse, everyone was desperately fighting, screaming out for courage to confront the unknown threat.
The lights in the warehouse were shattered, one by one going out, gradually dimming until finally all the lights were extinguished, plunging the warehouse into darkness, leaving Gu Fan and Li only able to see the sparks from gunfire.
Gradually, the gunfire subsided, and the shouts of killing were completely covered by cries of agony, a sensation of total annihilation pressed urgently against Gu Fan and Li’s hearts.
By now, the only thought in Li’s mind was that it was over, all over.
"Let’s get out of here!" Li wanted to run, but Gu Fan grabbed him.
Gu Fan’s expression was solemn, "The battle isn’t decided yet, it’s not appropriate to leave now."
Li was confused, then he felt a hand on his shoulder, and suddenly a chill ran from his head to his feet.
Xue Long had arrived, he snorted coldly, "Lucky for you that you didn’t desert in the face of the enemy, otherwise I would show no mercy."
Li was terrified, cursing himself for forgetting that Xue Long and his men were lying in ambush all around, they were the real force. Had it not been for Gu Fan’s intervention, Li might have already been killed by Xue Long.
From this, Li couldn’t help but view Gu Fan in a new light, who could still keep a cool head and assess the situation under those circumstances.
Xue Long walked forward, staring at the dark warehouse door, he scoffed, "You like to fight in the dark? That is our favorite battlefield."
With Xue Long’s commanding words, many vampires gathered from all sides, encircling the warehouse.
"Attack, capture them alive if possible, but don’t let them escape," commanded Xue Long, and more than twenty vampires rushed into the warehouse from different directions.
Gu Fan was extremely anxious, as more than twenty vampires stormed the battlefield, the noise of the melee far exceeded the gunfire.
Boom, boom, boom, the intense collision, just by listening, one could imagine how fierce the fight was.
At times, Gu Fan, Li, and Xue Long who were standing outside could clearly see the walls of the warehouse shaking from the impact, even the dust was knocked loose, making it seem as if the warehouse might not hold up and could collapse at any moment.
Gu Fan checked the time, then remarked, "Five minutes!"
Xue Long’s face darkened, he understood what these five minutes meant. More than twenty vampires had stormed in, and considering the vampires’ strength and speed, the fact that they hadn’t subdued the enemy revealed how strong the opposition was.
"What are you two still doing outside?" Xue Long snorted coldly, his eyes filled with killing intent.
Gu Fan simply said, "We’re staying by your side to protect you."
"Get lost, do I need your protection?" Xue Long’s gaze was filled with rage, his aura frightening.
Having no other choice, Gu Fan and Li could only steel themselves and walk toward the dark warehouse door, their hearts pounding wildly, clueless about the severity of the battle inside.
At that moment, one person supporting another injured individual escaped from the warehouse, their frightened appearances as if they had seen a ghost.
"Brother, are you alright? What exactly happened in there?" Gu Fan rushed over to lend a hand, appearing genuinely concerned.
Li knew the score too, using the excuse of tending to the wounded to not advance an inch, jokingly saying, "What a joke, right now the ones fighting inside are all monsters."
Xue Long could clearly see what Gu Fan and Li were up to, and immediately scolded, "The wounded don’t need your care, hurry up and get in there. Don’t think that just because you are Catherine’s subordinates I wouldn’t dare touch you, my status is far beyond Catherine’s, and I don’t need to explain to Catherine if I kill you."
"Fine, you’re tough, you’re the boss, we’ll listen to you," Gu Fan sighed, his only option was to bite the bullet and go in.
Just at this moment, a vampire got struck and flew out the window, landing outside with a bang, and the pathetic state he was in was unimaginable—it was hard to imagine what kind of a creature was capable of beating a vampire like that.
Li was terrified, his body shaking.
Gu Fan breathed a sigh of relief, if it had been Zhuo Hang, the hunter, or the big boss dealing with the vampire, it might have been even more brutal.
"Alright, we’re going in," Gu Fan took a deep breath, then charged in.
Li was frightened, not daring to go alone, immediately followed Gu Fan in.
As soon as the two entered the warehouse, they quickly took cover by the wall near the door, then squatted down and slowly moved towards the corner.
"Boss, boss’s wife, we don’t have any grudges, we won’t provoke you, so please don’t provoke us either," Li trembled, currently seeing only a dim warehouse occasionally lit by shadows darting about.
The warehouse was huge, with three floors, almost each level having its own fight, gunfire ensued one moment, and brawls the next.
Li covered his ears, ducked his head low, not daring to face that sounds of wailing filled with utter despair.
Gu Fan, however, was different; he kept his ears perked up, listening to the movements, as the fight had been going on for a while, both sides were in a stalemate, and the attackers did not seem as strong as Gu Fan had anticipated.
Suddenly, there was a commotion followed by a yell, which seemed to come from quite close to Gu Fan and Li. This immediately made both of them tense up, fearing that the fight would spill over to their location.
Li kept blessing himself, "May the spirit of heaven and earth protect us, boss, boss’s wife, don’t come here, please don’t come."
In the darkness, a whooshing sound came, and Gu Fan, with a quick reaction, hurriedly pulled Li aside, and a piece of scrap iron smashed into their original spot.
"That was close, Gu Fan you saved me there," Li, still frightened, was grateful for Gu Fan’s life-saving action.
Amid the hazardous and dark environment, Li had no energy to think about how Gu Fan could detect the imminent danger in the darkness and make the correct evasive action just in time.
A scream followed, and then a person landed right in front of Gu Fan and Li, startling both of them, as it turned out the battlefield had indeed moved closer to them.
"Hey, come help quick." The person immediately got up, seemingly unhurt, from his tone and ability to move, he was a vampire.
The vampire adjusted himself a bit and then dashed back into the fray.
Gu Fan and Li hadn’t yet recovered when they saw a figure in the darkness thrown and smash against the wall next to them.
"My goodness, that vampire rushed out fast and came back even faster," Gu Fan’s body tensed, watching the direction from where the vampire had been thrown, listening to the approaching footsteps.
