Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 1383: Enemies Meet

Chapter 1383: Chapter 1383: Enemies Meet

On a rooftop, the hunter stood with arms crossed, his coat fluttering in the wind, his indifferent gaze fixed on the seemingly ordinary and dilapidated warehouse.

A man who appeared somewhat crafty leaped next to the hunter, wearing a grin, "My ears are quite sharp; they’re caught in a desperate battle. Won’t you go help them?"

The man was an ally with extraordinary talent from the Hunter’s Guild, with no name, only the codename Lie Huo.

The hunter responded indifferently, "I’ve already said we should keep a low profile. You just don’t listen, always seeking a thrill. Now you’ve kicked an iron plate."

"How could we have known that Organization X had gathered so many people in this small town?" Lie Huo shook his head with a sigh, then glanced again at the hunter who seemed reluctant to help, pleading, "Organization X has many soldiers and generals. We are few, and each one matters. If something happens to them, no one will help you rescue Irina."

"It doesn’t matter. Without you, I can still kill my way into Dark City," the hunter said, then turned away indifferently, ready to leave.

Lie Huo grew anxious, "Without the assistance of the Hunter’s Guild, you can’t kill your way into Dark City or rescue Irina on your own."

"Then I’ll be laid to rest in Dark City alongside Irina. I cannot accept working with you reckless fools," the hunter seemed resolute, closing off any possibility for negotiation.

Lie Huo gritted his teeth in frustration and eventually conceded, "All right, we were wrong this time. From now on, we’ll listen to you, please just make your move. That’s Xue Long, they can’t handle him."

Hearing this, the hunter turned back, glanced at the frantic Lie Huo, and said, "Remember what you’ve said. If you break your word, there won’t be a next time."

At that moment, Lin Yue ran over, a bit out of breath, "Master, I’ve taken care of three vampires nearby and extracted some intelligence. They’re the hands of the Western and Northern Aristocrats, assembled here to await orders to attack a group."

"Which group?" the hunter frowned, considering anyone nearby who could attract the attention of two major nobility factions within Organization X was certainly not an ordinary party.

The hunter thought of a possibility. Could it be Gu Fan and his group? But shouldn’t they have entered Dark Primitive Mountain? They shouldn’t be in this town.

The hunter began to doubt, then glanced at Lie Huo and asked, "You told me that after Irina and Gu Fan’s group entered Dark Primitive Mountain, all contact was lost, and there’s been no news till now."

"Yes, that’s what I was told from above," Lie Huo didn’t understand why the hunter suddenly brought this up.

Lin Yue interjected, "Master, what should we do now? Should we join the battle?"

"No rush. As long as Xue Long doesn’t make a move, neither will we," the hunter said, exuding a murderous look.

Long ago, when the hunter was much younger, he had infiltrated Dark City with his mentor, planning to assassinate a key figure of Organization X.

However, the hunter and his mentor were ultimately exposed, and in the fierce battle with thousands of vampires from Organization X, they suffered heavy casualties.

The hunter would never forget how his mentor took a heavy blow from Xue Long to save him—a blow that sapped the mentor’s strength to break out, yet he left all hope of living to the hunter.

The enemy was right there, but the hunter, after more than a decade of experience, had become steady and would not rush into battle because of a hot-blooded impulse. He would not forget his hatred, but even revenge had to be taken at the right moment.

"Xue Long, I’ve finally waited for you to leave Dark City," the hunter felt a fire of vengeance burning in his heart, his murderous look growing stronger, but he still managed to keep his composure.

Lie Huo also noticed that the hunter’s fighting spirit was aflame, realizing something in his mind, that the hunter had wanted to take action long ago. He was just pretending to be calm, all for the sake of bargaining.

Suddenly, the whooshing sound approached as five vampires discovered their whereabouts and rushed over, loudly demanding, "Who exactly are you, and what are you plotting here?"

"Just five of you?" Lie Huo was unimpressed. In the Hunter’s Guild, only those who had earned the title ’hunter’ were not to be taken lightly, each having slain hundreds of vampires before obtaining their high-ranking codenames.

"What’s this rabble!" A vampire charged swiftly at Lie Huo, his claws lunging towards Lie Huo’s head.

"Come on then, who’s afraid of whom." Lie Huo’s talent was playing with fire. With a simple lift of his hand, a burst of flames erupted, setting the oncoming vampire ablaze.

The vampire was engulfed in flames, screaming in agony, running chaotically as a fireman became particularly conspicuous on the dark rooftop.

Lin Yue, witnessing Lie Huo’s display, was shocked and hurriedly asked, "Master, what sort of sorcery is this that you can produce fire?"

"This isn’t any sorcery; it’s also a kind of technique, I suppose," the hunter explained vividly. "Just as I can ride a sword and cut through the air with Jian Qi, you can understand this as a kind of supernatural ability." Lin Yue pondered, half understanding.

The other four vampires watched as their comrade was gradually being charred, but they remained indifferent. After all, at this level, a vampire’s physique could still recover. What mattered now was that these enemies in front of them were extremely formidable.

"How about it, any more of you dare to come forward?" Lie Huo raised his hand and unleashed another wave of flames, frightening the other four vampires into retreating.

Seeing the vampires’ fearful and hesitant appearance, Lie Huo became somewhat proud. "What’s the matter? Aren’t you vampires always so confident? Why so scared now?"

Suddenly, the hunter’s eyes flashed with a sharp edge. Like lightning, he drew his sword, aiming straight for the back of Lie Huo’s head.

"What!" Lie Huo felt the wind on his back, aware of the sneak attack, instantly filled with terror.

The precious sword pierced through his arm, blood dripping, the hunter’s swift action preventing a powerful arm from claiming Lie Huo’s life.

Having narrowly escaped death, Lie Huo immediately jumped back, turned, and stared intently at the tall figure. Xue Long had somehow reached his back without notice.

"What a formidable sword strike. If I am not mistaken, you must be the disciple of Jian Shen," Xue Long said, not paying any attention to Lie Huo but looking at the hunter beside him, his mouth curving up in excitement at having found a worthy opponent.

Xue Long had just launched a surprise attack from behind, intending to punch off Lie Huo’s head. Instead, his arm was pierced by the hunter’s sword, leaving Lie Huo’s life unclaimed.

Lin Yue swallowed hard. For the first time, he felt the oppressive force released by a vampire; this Xue Long was no ordinary being, seemingly a true member of the Xue Clan.
