Chapter 1345: Chapter 1345 No Way to Settle the Bill

Waking up early in the morning, Gu Fan stretched his limbs and checked his mobile phone to find that the signal was still terrible; this way, he couldn’t contact Lin Xi or Su Hui.

In Dark City, only special mobile phones could make calls and send messages; any other phones were useless here. Moreover, if Organization X discovered you had brought an ordinary phone into Dark City, you’d face severe punishment.

However, Gu Fan didn’t give a damn about the rules of Dark City. What he pondered over was either climbing the wall to make contact with his companions outside using his phone or getting his hands on one of those special mobile phones.

Gu Fan thought over his options and decided that neither path was easy, but he had to figure out a way to make contact somehow. Otherwise, how could Su Hui and Lin Xi provide support based on the situation? Lin Xi must be worried.

However, Gu Fan was overthinking it; under the gentle guidance of Lu Yi and Ouyang Jin, Lin Xi had put all her worries aside. At the moment, she was eating and drinking merrily with everyone else.

"Don’t worry, Miss Lin. Gu Fan has the Destiny Stone Body Guard; who can harm him?" Lu Yi’s words made sense, and Lin Xi felt she had indeed been overly concerned.

After Su Hui, Lin Xi, Irina, Lu Yi, and Ouyang Jin left Dark City, Organization X had been monitoring them constantly. Now that they had returned to the small town they’d set out from, it was to mislead Organization X into thinking they had genuinely left, so the organization would lower its guard.

While eating, Lu Yi asked, "Sister Su, do you know where Zhuo Hang has gone? If he had been here last time, we wouldn’t have been captured."

Su Hui was just as puzzled. She hadn’t seen Zhuo Hang since emerging from the forbidden land. Why had he left without saying a word? Had he discovered something urgent to attend to?

Irina chimed in, "So what should we do now? We’ve lost contact with Gu Fan. How can we assist him?"

After some thought, Su Hui said, "First, we need to convincingly act as if we’ve completely left this place. Other mercenaries have already left ahead of us; it’s our turn now. I trust that with the Hunter’s Guild’s abilities, our trail won’t be followed by Organization X all the time."

Irina earnestly replied, "Okay, leave it to me. I’ll make sure to arrange everything properly; Organization X won’t be able to catch up."

As long as the Hunter’s Guild’s arrangements were solid, Organization X would only know that Su Hui and Lin Xi had left the small town, but not where they’d gone.

Lin Xi felt the plan had its flaws, "Even if we mislead Organization X’s thinking and make them believe we’ve truly left, and even if we deceive them leaving them unaware of our return route, Organization X must have informants in our city. If, over time, they notice we haven’t returned to our original city, they will start to suspect our movements."

"You’re right, Lin Xi, you’ve thought this through well," Su Hui considered seriously. At this moment, Ouyang Jin raised his hand, "Looks like my task here is done. If that’s the case, then let’s settle the bill. I’m off."

Everyone looked at Ouyang Jin with disdain, as if to say, "In your dreams."

Ouyang Jin protested, "What do you mean? Are you thinking of skipping out on the bill?"

Su Hui responded, "Of course not. When have we ever done that? The one to pay is Gu Fan. If you want to settle it, go find him."

"You’re being unreasonable," Ouyang Jin feigned anger, but everyone could see through it and no one took it seriously.

Lin Xi pretended to console him, "Come on, buddy, we’ve known each other for so long. Don’t you trust our honesty? Thing is, the money is with Gu Fan. We can’t settle the bill even if we want to."

"What, the bank card of your future husband isn’t in your possession?" Lu Yi looked at Lin Xi with a strange expression, making her quite puzzled. Then Lin Xi thought about it and realized that, given her relationship with Gu Fan, maybe she should be the one guarding the account.

Then Su Hui said, "Alright, let’s leave family financial disputes for later. We need to come up with a plan now to support Gu Fan."

"From this small town to your city, it’s a trek of no more than five days. If after five days you haven’t appeared in your original city, Organization X will become suspicious. So we have to make full use of these five days," Irina suggested. The problem was that they couldn’t take advantage of these five days without a signal from Gu Fan, leaving them unable to take action.

Lu Yi picked up his phone, his face full of expectation, "Big brother, sister-in-law, please send a message soon, tell us what to do?"

"If Gu Fan is smart enough, he should know how to use trucks to send messages," Ouyang Jin mused, leaning back in his chair, hands behind his head.

Upon hearing this, everyone was thrilled, "Yes, that’s a good idea, thank goodness for you, Ouyang Jin."

Su Hui began to make plans, "Alright, we’ll wait for the message from Gu Fan, then blatantly leave this place. After that, we’ll sneak back and, with the help of the trucks, enter Dark City to meet with Gu Fan."

Everyone agreed to the plan, but Ouyang Jin immediately expressed, "I think you’ll need someone on the outside to cover you, and I think I’m best suited for that role."

"No chance, as soon as Gu Fan sends the message, you’ll be the first one to enter Dark City," they all agreed unanimously.

Ouyang Jin wanted to protest, but he was met with everyone’s strong gaze, and in that moment, he realized that arguing was pointless.

Just then, a message came through on Irina’s phone: her request had been approved by the Hunter’s Guild. Knowing opportunities were rare and whether they could bring down Organization X hinged on this, the guild had sent additional support.

Energized by this news, they all felt that more hands meant more strength.

However, what the Hunter’s Guild had kept hidden was that the Hunter, Lin Yue, was currently in another small town near Dark Primitive Mountain. Unaware that Irina was safe, the Hunter was intent on charging into Dark City to rescue her.

The Hunter’s Guild had done this hoping the Hunter would continue to be involved in events to come, joining the impending battle. After all, the Hunter was a significant asset.

If the Hunter knew Irina was safe, he might have left, possibly taking her with him, which was not what the Hunter’s Guild wanted.

Currently, Irina was wholeheartedly convinced the Hunter’s Guild had made the right call, believing that by uniting, they could defeat Organization X and make the world a better place.
