"My God, not again!" Gu Fan and the others had not expected to be targeted by another monster after a narrow escape from death.

Luckily, the alligator was not very fast and was quite clumsy at turning, which made it not so easy for it to catch up to Gu Fan.

Someone asked, "What do we do now? We can’t hide here forever, can we?"

To this, General Horton responded with a snort of disdain, "You should ask Gu Fan that. It was his idea to unleash all the monsters. Now they’re everywhere and we have nowhere to stand our ground."

Hearing this, Irina frowned; it was clear that General Horton was targeting Gu Fan. So Irina immediately stood up for him, "Some risks must be taken. If it wasn’t for Gu Fan’s idea to use monsters against monsters, our situation would likely be even more dangerous. You all saw it—we escaped not because we could run faster."

Gu Fan said nothing more, "Enough, now is not the time to argue. The monsters are outside, what we need to do is find a safe place to hide for a while, and then, once the monsters have mostly killed each other off, we make our way back to the safety exit."

"Alright then!" At this point, many chose to trust Gu Fan.

After waiting for quite a while, Gu Fan crawled on the ground, listening for any movement. Finding nothing unusual, he felt it was time to venture out.

The others were still worried, however, fearful that as soon as the door opened, they would see a monster gaping at them with its massive jaws.

With the flashlight illuminating the surroundings, they confirmed that there were no monsters nearby, allowing them to breathe a sigh of relief. The next task was to make it to the safety passage.

With the marks Gu Fan had made on the walls, finding the safety exit was not difficult in the unfamiliar and complex passageways. Gu Fan deserved credit for that.

At this moment, even if General Horton felt bitter, he had no choice but to acknowledge Gu Fan.

As they walked, they saw a massive body lying ahead and braced to flee, thinking it was a monster.

Upon closer inspection, Gu Fan realized the creature was motionless, apparently the same alligator from before.

Upon closer examination, everyone gasped in shock—the alligator’s gigantic body had been thoroughly crushed, leaving them to wonder what kind of terrifying force could kill such an immense being.

Using monsters to fight monsters had proven effective, but the monsters that survived such battles were sure to be the most terrifying. If Gu Fan and his companions hadn’t escaped by then, their situation would have been far worse than before.

"Alright, let’s hurry to the safety passage," Gu Fan said, quickening his pace, and everyone else followed closely, guided by the markers. It took little time to reach the destination.

Despite being mentally prepared, they were still shocked by the bloody scene at the safety exit, where shredded bodies lay everywhere, their fear-filled eyes unsettling to see.

Gu Fan remarked, "It looks like more than a dozen have been killed or injured."

"Yes, if previously, when we were over seventy people crowded in this narrow place, and the three-eyed monster had attacked, our casualties would probably have been even higher. It’s lucky that the monsters we released fought each other, giving us the chance to escape. Only..." Irina did not finish her sentence because the situation was still not optimistic.

Gu Fan finished for her, "Although we escaped a disaster, in this place filled with monsters, luck won’t last forever. We don’t know how many others have encountered danger."

"Yes, we were lucky. When the three-eyed monster attacked, another monster helped block it for us. But if the three-eyed monster had killed many of us and those who barely escaped then met other monsters... that would have been a total annihilation. Gu Fan, did you consider this?" General Horton once again directed his criticism at Gu Fan.

Gu Fan offered a wry smile, "Yes, my method did carry great risks, and we were lucky not to be wiped out in a short time. I admit that I need to reflect on this."

Just as Irina was about to speak up for Gu Fan, another mercenary stood forward, "Although Gu Fan’s method was risky, without it we wouldn’t have had any hope at all. Following Gu Fan’s instructions, everyone lined up and orderly entered the passage.

At that moment, Irina noticed something wrong—the space had become smaller, and one of the walls seemed closer to the safety exit than before.

Out of curiosity, Irina touched the wall that seemed to have moved, only to immediately realize something was off.

The wall suddenly began to move, its flat surface bulging bit by bit, then distorting, forming ridges, and then began to resemble the firm shape of armor, as the wall started to stand upright.

Shining their flashlights together, they were shocked to discover that it was not a wall, but the massive body of a monster, covered in armor.

"Irina, if I’m not mistaken, you’ve disturbed Mr. Monster’s rest," Gu Fan said with a forced smile, feeling that trouble was much greater this time.

"Next time, make sure to stop me when I randomly touch things," Irina now regretted her curiosity. Why hadn’t she waited until everyone was safely in the passage before exploring? Curiosity killed the cat, indeed.
