Chapter 1315: Chapter 1315: Miss, you’ve finally arrived
At that moment, Lu Yi had just crawled out of the sewer, poked his head out, and saw everyone in a panic, so he asked, "What’s going on with you guys, looking like you’ve seen a ghost? Is it really that terrifying?"
Then Lu Yi felt something was wrong. He turned around and, holy moly, a giant creature clad in armor stood right beside him, stomping down with its foot.
Luckily, Lu Yi had quick reflexes and immediately shrank back into the sewer; otherwise, that stomp would have surely flattened him.
"Run!" Gu Fan urgently led everyone to retreat, running as fast as they could.
The armored monster was fiercely trying to pry open the entrance to the sewer but found it incredibly sturdy. Despite its strength, it could not smash through, so it abandoned the idea of pulling Lu Yi out and instead targeted Gu Fan, who was escaping.
The ground thundered loudly as the armored monster pursued with overwhelming vigor, shaking the very earth, and its speed was very fast.
Gu Fan glanced back and felt like he was being chased by a giant; in the face of that wild power, he seemed so insignificant.
"Everyone split up and run. Let’s see how many can make it out," Gu Fan shouted, and instantly everybody scattered at the next crossroads. Some went left, others right, but no one continued to run straight ahead with Gu Fan.
Now Gu Fan was the distraction for the monster, helping everyone else to escape. Even though he was injured, he clenched his teeth and ran with all his might.
But no matter how hard Gu Fan tried, he couldn’t outrun the armored monster and was about to be stomped flat.
Right then, a creature hanging upside down from the ceiling pounced down, biting the armored monster—or rather, the armored monster, in its pursuit, had run headlong into the creature hanging from the ceiling.
Gu Fan didn’t care what it was; he narrowly escaped and kept running without looking back.
A pained howl echoed all around, suggesting that the creature was no match for the armored monster and was being brutally beaten. Then another agonized scream reminded Gu Fan that he must not let the armored monster catch up with him.
Running, Gu Fan arrived at the arena he had seen before, where the giant mantis and the three-headed hellhound were still present. However, they were not fighting each other—they were a distance apart, cautiously on guard.
"Sorry to intrude, excuse me!" Gu Fan tried to get through between the two creatures, but the ferocious barking of the three-headed hellhound scared him off.
Just as Gu Fan was unsure what to do, the ground behind him rumbled again. Without needing to guess, he knew the armored monster had caught up.
Gu Fan could only hope for the best, trying to stay as close as possible to the side of the passage from which the armored monster would emerge—the blind spot.
The moment the armored monster charged out, its gaze was fixed straight ahead, not noticing Gu Fan, who was pressed against the wall beside it. It saw the three-headed hellhound and the giant mantis, paused for a moment, then immediately tensed up all over and entered a combat state.
"Thank heavens!" Gu Fan slowly started to move, hoping to quietly return to that passage while the armored monster was distracted by the other two creatures.
"Please, celestial spirits, earth spirits, let me be invisible to you, I beg you not to see me," Gu Fan whispered to himself, sticking close to the wall. He had only moved three steps when the armored monster’s gaze swept around and spotted him.
Seeing Gu Fan about to escape into the passage, the armored monster immediately swept its foot in a wide arc towards him.
"Oh my God, I still got spotted!" Gu Fan reacted quickly and immediately lay down.
The armor-clad monster’s kick just grazed Gu Fan’s body, and although it did not hit him, the Strong Wind it kicked up was enough to blow Gu Fan away. He tumbled several times across the ground, distancing himself from the passageway.
Gu Fan felt dizzy and disoriented. Struggling to his feet, he couldn’t help but complain, "Big brother, do we have a grudge? Why are you targeting me? Please, there are two others on the other side who are almost on your level, they are worthy of being your opponents."
The armor-clad monster seemed not to understand what Gu Fan was saying. It stomped down, and it was only thanks to Gu Fan’s quick reflexes that he managed to dodge by rolling and crawling away.
However, the monster’s stomp was so powerful that it made the ground shake, causing Gu Fan to lose his balance and sit down with a thud.
He couldn’t fight it off, nor could he escape. Now, surrounded by three monsters, Gu Fan was trapped in a dire situation.
"You guys!" Gu Fan wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, determined to fight. Since he couldn’t escape, he decided to put up a fierce struggle.
The three-headed hellhounds and the giant mantis both wanted to devour the tasty meal that was Gu Fan, but because of the armor-clad monster’s presence, they held back and even began to have second thoughts about retreating, valuing their lives more than a meal.
Just as the armor-clad giant was closing in, a series of gunshots rang out, countless bullets hitting its body.
Though the bullets had little effect on the armor-clad giant, more like tickling it, the giant began to turn its head to look back. It saw Irina and Lu Yi leading a group of people who were firing vigorously.
The armor-clad giant didn’t care and decided to deal with Gu Fan first. However, just as it was about to act, another flurry of intense gunfire came from a different direction, this time targeting the giant mantis.
Over ten mercenaries fired together. They knew the bullets were ineffective, but they had to contribute what they could and not let Gu Fan face everything alone.
The giant mantis, not having as strong a defense, was hurt by the bullets and became enraged, charging with its scythes flailing.
Initially surrounded by three monsters, Gu Fan suddenly saw a way out. He didn’t hesitate; he rushed straight through the gap in the encirclement.
The three-headed hellhounds wanted to chase after Gu Fan, but seeing the armor-clad giant in pursuit, they immediately dropped the idea and turned their attention to Irina and Lu Yi instead.
"Dammit, that big brute is heading for us, everyone be on guard." Lu Yi very much wanted to help Gu Fan, but in the moment, he could only hope Gu Fan could survive on his own strength.
At that moment, with a swoosh, a fiery red bird swooped down, tightly grasping Gu Fan with its claws before spreading its wings and taking flight, whisking him away.
The armor-clad monster was furious, bellowing with rage, leaping high, but it narrowly missed catching the bird as it flew off.
Gu Fan cried out in despair, feeling like he’d just escaped the tiger’s den only to enter the wolf’s lair. Although the fiery red monster bird didn’t seem as fearsome as the armor-clad one, it was still tough to handle.
Despite his Vajra Body Protection, Gu Fan was gradually overwhelmed by the overwhelming strength of the monster bird’s claws, feeling like he was about to suffocate.
At the critical moment, a graceful silhouette came riding on the wind and sprinted with acceleration. Her small frame was filled with astonishing Qi, causing the very space around her to tremble.
