Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared -
Chapter 1313: So Many Monsters
Chapter 1313: Chapter 1313: So Many Monsters
Using monsters to fight monsters just barely worked, and Gu Fan quickly shouted, "Now’s the time, everyone hurry into the passage." As he spoke, the pain from his injuries made it difficult for him to continue.
Actually, without Gu Fan’s emphasis, everyone had already rushed toward the exit, but the old problem persisted—the passage was narrow, and the procession was slow, one person after another.
Gu Fan carefully counted, there were over thirty people here, and nearly seventy others were scattered.
"What should we do?" Irina was somewhat worried as those scattered included people who had stood by her side in dangerous times.
The Hunter’s Guild, the Steel Mercenaries, and others were groups Gu Fan could not abandon, so he made a decision to personally look for them.
The others thought Gu Fan was being foolish. At a time like this, wouldn’t it be better to seize the opportunity to escape? Yet, he was thinking of rescuing others, acting as if he really were a savior.
Gu Fan ignored their strange looks. He, Irina, and a few others acted together.
"How many monsters did you end up releasing?" Gu Fan urgently wanted to know, because releasing all the monsters bore a great risk.
Irina revealed an uncertain expression, "But the situation was urgent, I just focused on releasing these monsters, and I didn’t count them properly, but I estimate at least ten."
"Ten, that’s really troublesome." Gu Fan somewhat regretted, feeling that taking such a gamble could likely endanger everyone.
However, Irina said, "If not for the monsters fighting each other just now, we would probably be in danger, so Gu Fan, don’t blame yourself, no one faults you."
"Really?" Hearing this, Gu Fan felt somewhat comforted.
Suddenly, a roar emanated from the direction of the safe passage, followed by gunshots and then screams, it seemed that those people had encountered some terrifying monsters.
Gu Fan, Irina, and the others could no longer care about that now, they could only keep moving forward. With everyone so scattered, Gu Fan couldn’t save everyone.
At that moment, Gu Fan and Irina reached a corner and saw a giant mantis gnawing on the carcass of another monster, apparently, a brutal battle had just taken place here.
"Hello, sorry to interrupt your meal, we’ll be leaving now, you can pretend we were never here," Gu Fan said, then turned to run.
Irina, while running, complained, "At a time like this, why are you even talking?"
"Maybe these monsters understand?" Gu Fan had barely finished speaking when he felt a whooshing sound from behind, without looking back he knew it was the giant mantis catching up.
No matter how fast Gu Fan and Irina ran, they were always on two legs, simply unable to outrun them. Moreover, in their frantic rush, they dashed out of the passage and ended up back in the arena.
"What is that?" Everyone was stunned. Inside the arena lay a monster resembling a crocodile, its enormous body moving like a train, it hadn’t yet noticed Gu Fan and the others.
Without much thought, Gu Fan and Irina planned to bypass the crocodile from behind.
The moment the giant mantis rushed out, the noise immediately caught the crocodile’s attention.
The crocodile turned its head around, and its gaze first locked onto the giant mantis, then it started bellowing at the mantis.
Seemingly frightened of the crocodile, the mantis took a few steps back.
Clearly, the crocodile had no intention of dealing with the giant mantis. With a turn of its head, it coincidentally spotted Gu Fan and the others on the side, suddenly piquing the crocodile’s interest.
Boom, boom, boom—the ground thundered as the massive crocodile charged towards Gu Fan and his group.
"Hey, wait, you’ve got the wrong targets!" Gu Fan was horrified realizing that, instead of attacking the mantis, the crocodile was relentlessly pursuing them.
Once Gu Fan saw the crocodile open its vast, bloodied maw, he instantly understood—the crocodile thought they would make a tastier meal.
"Damn, do they think we’re push-overs?" One mercenary grabbed a grenade and threw it into the crocodile’s mouth, only to be swallowed whole himself.
The grenade exploded inside the crocodile’s mouth, causing it significant pain. It couldn’t help but howl in agony, thrashing and flailing its head around, inadvertently veering to the side.
Temporarily safe, Gu Fan immediately ushered everyone back into the passage, only to see the giant mantis that had been lying in wait suddenly attack again.
"Damn it, won’t you let us go?" Gu Fan clenched his teeth in frustration and suppressed his pain as he fled in panic.
Yet before Gu Fan and Irina could enter the passage, another group emerged from it—it was General Horton and his troops, looking terrified as if they had encountered something immensely horrifying.
A three-headed wolf burst out, snarling fiercely with its muzzles twisted in ferocity, still chewing on flesh and blood, indicating the unknown number of victims it had consumed earlier.
"My God, here it comes again!" Gu Fan exclaimed in terror. With the three-headed hound before them and a giant mantis behind, they had nowhere to run and were forced to fight.
"Don’t stop, keep running, don’t stop!" Encouraged by Gu Fan’s shouts, everyone mustered their courage and continued pushing forward.
Everyone knew what Gu Fan was attempting and hoped his plan would work.
Gu Fan and Irina led their people in a desperate run, with the giant mantis in hot pursuit.
General Horton and his men sprinted full throttle, showcasing skillful evasiveness while being chased by the three-headed hound.
Both parties did not stop or slow down, and it seemed they were about to collide head-on.
At the critical moment, Gu Fan signaled General Horton and his group to spread out a bit.
"Alright, everything depends on this!" Understanding the hint, General Horton immediately directed his troops to spread out while running, creating gaps.
With everyone’s cooperation, the two groups ran toward each other and eventually made contact. Gu Fan weaved through the gaps between people without crashing into anyone.
However, it was different for the giant mantis and the three-headed hound. Being massive and ferocious, neither yielded, resulting in a tremendous collision.
In terms of sheer strength, the three-headed hound instantly sent the giant mantis flying, although the mantis’s scythe-like limbs also left gashes on the hound, from which blood streamed.
Once the fight started, there was no turning back. The three-headed hound, after howling a few times, charged again.
The giant mantis immediately swung its sharp scythes, the lethal power keeping the three-headed hound at bay, continuously wounding it and sending chunks of flesh flying.
Taking advantage of the two monsters fighting, Gu Fan, Irina, and General Horton, without even resting, rushed into the passage.
At that moment, the crocodile that had recovered from its pain moved its massive body and charged again, following them into the passage as well. The noise it made while crawling was downright terrifying.
