Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 1207: The Pot Calling the Kettle Black

Chapter 1207: Chapter 1207: The Pot Calling the Kettle Black

The plan to infiltrate Dark City had already been roughly formulated, but there were still many problems, such as what to do after getting inside—they couldn’t just bumble around like headless flies.

Moreover, even if they followed Ouyang Jin’s suggestion to modify vehicles and sneak people in quietly, there was a limit to how many they could send at once. Without resolving these issues, everyone was unable to move forward.

While everyone was pondering the plan, someone from Organization X visited Ouyang Jin’s workshop to buy a truck.

Ouyang Jin immediately pulled out a vehicle he had secretly modified, which contained supplies and a letter for a few friends in Dark City.

The supplies were something those friends had requested, while the letter, written by Ouyang Jin, expressed his hope that these friends would look out for Gu Fan and the others once they infiltrated, with the promise of a generous reward, of course.

When Gu Fan found out what Ouyang Jin had done, he was so pleased that he couldn’t help but hug him, "That’s great! I just knew that meeting you would solve all our problems."

But Ouyang Jin couldn’t muster any excitement and said with a grim face, "Thank you. If it weren’t for meeting you, I wouldn’t have wanted to tackle these problems."

If those few friends of Ouyang Jing agreed to help, there could be nothing better. Having people in Dark City to guide them would reduce the chances of being discovered. But whether those friends would agree or not, they had to patiently wait for their reply.

So, Gu Fan and his group continued to wait patiently inside the inn. During the day, when everyone felt idle and bored, no one dared to wander outside, fearing being discovered by Organization X, especially by Qiao Ya and his group.

At night, Gu Fan would stand on the rooftop, using a telescope along with a drone to scout the route leading to Dark City, trying to find other feasible options.

The night breeze was gentle, and a chill seeped through, making Gu Fan shiver involuntarily. Even though he was using a telescope from a distance, he could still sense a terrifying aura emanating from the Dark Night Primitive Forest.

"What could be in there?" Gu Fan wondered. Organization X had so many vampires, yet why couldn’t they handle the creatures of the Dark Night Primitive Forest? X Organization’s vehicles were often attacked by unidentified creatures too.

Gu Fan thought of a possibility—could the unidentified creatures of the Dark Night Primitive Forest be even more terrifying than vampires?

The third problem was, even if they secretly hid in the vehicle and followed it to Dark City, could they ensure they wouldn’t be attacked by the monsters of the Dark Night Primitive Forest on the way?

It was difficult, extraordinarily difficult. Just safely blending into Dark City was already nearly impossible, let alone bringing so many people along.

A cold wind blew, and Gu Fan couldn’t help but sneeze, followed by another.

Just then, a jacket was draped over Gu Fan’s shoulders. He paused, then turned around and saw Lin Xi looking at him tenderly.

"That’s enough. I know you’re worried about Jie, but you can’t do anything standing here. You will catch a cold, so listen to me, go somewhere warm quickly," Lin Xi said with a caring tone, warming Gu Fan’s heart instantly.

Gu Fan nodded, and then he and Lin Xi, holding hands, walked down the stairs.

Just as Lu Yi happened to pass by, she glanced at them and then smirked disdainfully, "You two have been together for so many years, almost like an old married couple. Aren’t you tired of being so sweet no matter where you are?"

Gu Fan smiled faintly, "I was actually thinking of inviting you for a drink, but then I saw you hugging your phone and grinning foolishly at the screen."

Exposed, Lu Yi’s face turned red before he quickly retorted, "Nonsense, that was... that was..." Lu Yi racked his brain but couldn’t come up with a reasonable excuse, growing increasingly anxious.

Lin Xi picked up on this, "Gu Fan, you don’t mean Lu Yi has gotten a girlfriend, right?"

Gu Fan nodded, "It seems like an office romance."

Shocked by this revelation, Lin Xi exclaimed, "The rabbit doesn’t eat the grass by its burrow; Lu Yi, you don’t even spare your female coworkers. Are you still a rabbit?"

Lu Yi felt like rolling his eyes at the couple, but after thinking it over, he realized that he was no match for them on his own and so he gave up.

However, Lin Xi was curious and kept asking Lu Yi to show her his girlfriend’s photo, which Lu Yi steadfastly refused to do.

While everyone was horsing around, suddenly several gunshots rang out from outside, instantly putting everyone on high alert.

The gunshots continued, resembling a fierce gunfight, and it seemed to be quite close. Wanting to know what was happening, Gu Fan climbed back up to the rooftop to watch the excitement.

Lin Xi, Lu Yi, and Su Hui and Irina, who had heard the commotion, ran up to the rooftop in succession, gaining a clear view from their high vantage point.

On the streets, a group was firing while retreating, crazily spraying bullets with machine guns, even cursing loudly, seeming like cornered beasts desperately fighting for their lives.

The other group appeared to be local law enforcement officers, well-equipped and organized in their pursuit.

As the two sides exchanged fire on the streets, it was fortunate that there were few people around at that moment; otherwise, the situation could have been worse.

Irina commented on this, "A lot of wanted criminals flee to Dark City, and since there aren’t many roads to Dark City, it’s easy to encircle and trap them. Such incidents happen every now and then, so the locals have grown accustomed to it."

After carefully observing for a while, Su Hui deduced that it was a gang now being chased by local law enforcement. They were cornered and had no choice but to flee toward Dark City.

Soon, the gang had run far away, and the sound of gunfire also slowly faded, restoring peace to the small town.

With no more excitement to watch, everyone dispersed. Lu Yi yawned and returned to his room, while Su Hui, catching a glimpse of the slight upward curve of Gu Fan’s lips, immediately realized what Gu Fan was planning—to use everything to his advantage.

"Alright, let’s sleep early. We definitely need to preserve our energy during this period." Irina said those words and left, but Gu Fan didn’t listen to a word she said.

Once everyone had left, Gu Fan’s expression turned solemn, and he lowered his voice, "Lin Xi, take me to find the group that was just pursued by the law enforcement. But you need to be careful, remember not to let anyone discover our movements."

Lin Xi was initially startled but quickly understood what Gu Fan intended to do and couldn’t help but laugh, "Okay, I’ll take you to them now." Saying that, Lin Xi grabbed Gu Fan’s hand and with a light tap of her foot, she gracefully floated up into the air.

Gu Fan once again felt the exhilaration of magic enabling him to soar through the clouds, his spirits lifting. He silently vowed that he might not learn any other spells, but this one he absolutely must master.
