Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared
Chapter 1208: The Grace of Saving Life

Chapter 1208: Chapter 1208: The Grace of Saving Life

A dozen or so people fled, covered in wounds, supporting each other, staggering every few steps, dragging their exhausted bodies until they finally crossed the border.

At that moment, the feeling of finally escaping to safety seemed to drain their bodies in an instant, then one by one, they lay on the ground, gasping for the free air.

Fei Lei was the boss of this group of people; their gang had over a hundred members and often engaged in reckless endeavours. No one dared to provoke them in normal times, so they were used to being arrogant.

Not long ago, Fei Lei had tampered with a woman who stood behind a very powerful man, and because of that, Fei Lei’s gang faced suppression.

Only then did Fei Lei realize that despite their swagger and bluster, they were nothing in front of certain people—a single word from the opponent could have annihilated them.

Having no other choice, Fei Lei led his brothers in a grand escape, encountering numerous attacks along the way. In the end, only nine people managed to flee to this place with Fei Lei, all sharing life-and-death ties.

"Old Five, what’s wrong with you? You can’t let anything happen to you!" Fei Lei was jolted by the anxious shouts and hurried over to check, only to find Old Five barely hanging on to life.

The brothers were heartbroken at the sight, knowing that nothing could be done to reverse the situation.

Old Two, utterly infuriated, didn’t care that Fei Lei was the boss, and loudly accused: "How many times have I told you to rein yourself in, to rein yourself in, but you kept doing whatever you pleased, causing trouble everywhere. Now look, you’ve dragged all the brothers into a mess."

"It’s all my fault, all my fault," Fei Lei blamed himself deeply, filled with regret, even shedding tears.

Old Eight stepped forward to mediate: "Okay, Old Two, say less. The more critical the situation, the more we need to stay united if we’re going to have any chance of surviving."

Old Three agreed: "By now, we’re definitely wanted criminals; we can’t return to our own territory, and none of the surrounding areas will shelter us. We have no choice but to head to the Dark City; otherwise, lacking resources, we can’t survive long in the wild."

Everyone’s expressions turned grim; they all knew that was a road of no return. To get to the Dark City meant taking the Road of Death, moving forward through utter desperation, to reach the only place where they could endure.

Fei Lei nodded: "Now, we have no choice but to go there, it’s just..." Fei Lei turned and looked at Old Five, whose breath was faint; he really didn’t want to abandon this good brother.

Just then, a gust of wind blew by, giving off a chilling sensation, and two figures with masks appeared behind them, mysterious and secretive.

"Who are you!" Fei Lei and his men were startled by the presence of two new figures behind them, and instantly, they aimed their guns at the masked individuals.

Gu Fan said calmly, "Relax, we’re not here to harm you, quite the opposite, I’ve come to help you."

"Help us? We’re not related, so excuse me if I’m suspicious," Fei Lei didn’t trust these sudden appearances one bit, and roared loudly, "Who the hell are you? Speak up, or don’t blame me for being inhospitable."

Gu Fan scratched his head, seeming troubled, "It’s not really good to tell you now. How about you tell me your names first?"

"Get lost!" Fei Lei was in no mood to engage in pointless talk with the strangers, and fired his gun without hesitation.

The bullet was shot out only to be stopped by an invisible wall; Lin Xi’s Protective Barrier opened Fei Lei and his men’s eyes wide with astonishment, leaving them dumbfounded.

Gu Fan spoke with an unconcerned tone: "We can settle matters without resorting to violence, can’t we?"

"Monsters, who the hell are you?" Fei Lei and his men were in disbelief, having seen special powers for the first time, and a wave of fear surged within them.

Gu Fan smiled apologetically: "Sorry, if we wanted to harm you, we could make you disappear right now. But we’re truly here to help you, especially your friend who seems to be in a bad way."

"Old Five?" Fei Lei glanced at his close brother and thought if there was a chance to save him, he decided to be bold and showed a respectful attitude, "Can you save my good brother?"

"Of course!" Lin Xi simply touched a point with her finger, and Fei Lei’s wounds began to heal at a surprising rate, even the pain was disappearing, astonishing Fei Lei to the point of disbelief.

No longer caring about the origins of these individuals, Fei Lei knelt down promptly: "I didn’t recognize Taishan and offended you; I ask for your understanding and beg you to save my brother no matter what."

Gu Fan nodded, "Saving your brother is possible, but one life for another; you die, he lives."

"What!" The others were shocked, finding the condition far too excessive.

Fei Lei thought for a moment and then looked at Gu Fan with utter seriousness, as if asking, "Seriously!" A second later, Fei Lei aimed the gun at his temple and pulled the trigger.

The brothers couldn’t stop him in time; they watched in horror as Fei Lei attempted suicide.

At the last moment, with a flick of her finger, Lin Xi sent a stream of Qi that blew the bullet aimed at Fei Lei’s temple away, saving him just in time.

"Good, truly loyal and committed, I wasn’t mistaken about you," Gu Fan admired and gave Lin Xi a meaningful look.

Understanding his cue, Lin Xi cast a spell on Old Five, healing his injuries, causing his breathing to grow stronger, and his complexion improved.

Seeing his close brother’s crisis turn into safety, Fei Lei’s face lit up with hope, thanking Gu Fan and Lin Xi repeatedly.

However, Gu Fan snorted coldly, "Don’t be too pleased yet; I’ve saved your brother’s life, and you will definitely owe us in return."

Fei Lei expressed his stance without hesitation, "At your word, I will walk through fire and water."

"Good, that’s what I wanted to hear," Gu Fan’s tone was satisfied, and then he pointed into the distance: "Over there lies the Dark City. I see you’re also planning to go there. You go first; I’ll arrive later. When we meet in the Dark City and I find myself in trouble, you’ll have to sort it out for me."

"What, you’re also heading to the Dark City?" Fei Lei was surprised and a bit anxious, sensing from Gu Fan’s tone that going to the Dark City wasn’t for seeking refuge or a simple visit.

Instinctively, Fei Lei reminded himself to keep his distance from these two, but now he had no choice but to comply with the promise made.

"Alright, this is for you." Gu Fan tossed an object to Fei Lei and added a reminder: "When you see something identical to this, that will be when I need your help."

Fei Lei took the object and clenched it tightly in his hand: "Understood, and rest assured, I always keep my word."
