This Spiritual Energy is Lethal! -
Chapter 538 Backup Plan
Chapter 538: Chapter 538 Backup Plan
While Lucina and Hall were busy dealing with the cleaning vehicle, Chen Ke and Diana were at Lucina’s home, preparing other items needed for the robbery.
Diana suggested they should try to get some Spirit Power Sealing Hand Grenades, as these grenades could temporarily disable the abilities of Spiritual Agents. For them, who needed to stay in the underground archives for a few minutes, it would be a great help.
Chen Ke emphasized repeatedly that during this robbery, they should kill as few people as possible. After Lucina opened the door, Diana would first bring her to the evacuation point, while Chen Ke would use a time bomb to block the archives’ door and search for the green diamond with Parker.
When they found what they wanted, or even if they didn’t but the situation did not allow it, Chen Ke and Parker would figure out a way to meet with Diana and leave through the door.
That was the basic plan. The difficulty lay in the fact that the moment Chen Ke, Diana, and Parker entered the Administration Bureau’s territory, they would trigger an alarm—meaning there would be no time for breathers during the robbery.
"Since you said to kill as few people as possible, we should use some non-lethal measures. Besides the Spirit Power Sealing Hand Grenades, can we get our hands on riot guns or something?" Diana asked.
"Would rubber bullets and tear gas be effective against Spiritual Ability Users?" Chen Ke asked.
"Of course, they are effective if the target isn’t wearing armor. Despite having Spiritual Energy, a Spiritual Ability User is still a normal person. It’s just that they become troublesome when they put on Holy Relics," Diana explained.
Chen Ke stroked his chin in thought for a while, then said, "Guns are not very useful. We need more hand grenades, smoke grenades, shock hand grenades, and Spirit Power Sealing Hand Grenades. The rest are negotiable... How can we get our hands on Spirit Power Sealing Hand Grenades since they belong to the Administration Bureau?"
"I think the Spirit Power Sealing Hand Grenades are not exclusive to the Administration Bureau. I was attacked by Assassins before, and they had those things. It seems they are available on the smuggling market," Diana said.
"Even if they are available for sale, they would surely be hard to acquire. The black market isn’t like Walmart; without an insider, others won’t deal with you," Chen Ke shook his head.
"Chen Ke, don’t your robber friends have any connections?" Diana leaned on her chin, her other hand drawing circles on the tabletop.
"It’s complicated... To put it simply, the leader of the group kicked the bucket, and then we... lost our support," Chen Ke spread his hands.
Diana looked at Chen Ke, her beautiful blue eyes reflecting his image. Chen Ke also looked at her, wondering why Diana was staring at him like that.
"What?" Chen Ke asked.
"I’ve always wanted to ask you, what drives you to rob the Administration Bureau just to get that Holy Diamond?" Diana asked.
"Oh... I’m saving myself, that’s all," Chen Ke said.
"Don’t fob me off with time-travel excuses, Chen Ke. I see some kind of contradiction, some division within you... and even till today, I find it hard to say what kind of person you are exactly," Diana said.
"I originally thought you would refuse to join this robbery, Diana. What are you after?" Chen Ke said.
"You’ve saved me twice and gave me the power of a Witch. You were half right; I am that hero who gained Extraordinary Ability, but you’re not my fated villain. Besides marrying you or sleeping with you, I would do anything for you," Diana said.
"Ah, that really hurts," Chen Ke laughed.
"That woman with purple hair, and this robust girl named Lucina, which one is your girlfriend? Or are they both?" Diana asked.
"In my heart, there’s only Lucina," Chen Ke said, covering his chest.
"And me," a thought came through his mind.
"Mm, I promise you, I’ll protect her the day after tomorrow," Diana said.
"Don’t get yourself into trouble either. We’re not going on a suicide mission; mutual destruction is not what I want," Chen Ke said.
"Of course, I don’t have a martyrdom complex, but you have to promise me one thing, Chen Ke," Diana said.
"What do you want?" Chen Ke asked.
"If we can get that green diamond, you must tell me what you intend to do with it. I don’t like being kept in the dark," Diana said.
"I will tell a few necessary individuals at the right moment, but right now I can’t say much. It’s not that there’s a big secret behind it... it’s just that even if I were to tell you now, I don’t think you would believe me," Chen Ke admitted.
Many truths are more absurd than novels. Who would believe that they are living in a dream? Who would believe that humanity has become extinct?
"Okay, let’s change the subject... We need a bunch of hand grenades, and now that your little group has lost its clandestine support, it looks like we’ll have to do this ourselves," Diana said.
"Do it ourselves?" Chen Ke was startled.
"I know a place that should have what we need," Diana said.
"Let me guess... you’re talking about P.W.A.T?" Chen Ke said.
"Smart. They definitely have them, and we can borrow some," Diana said.
"We’re going to rob the Administration Bureau the day after tomorrow. If we stir up trouble now... that wouldn’t be wise," Chen Ke shook his head.
"That’s why I said we should borrow them. As long as we’re careful, they won’t notice," Diana said.
"Where are we going to borrow from? The headquarters of P.W.A.T? I feel like we’d be caught the moment we stepped in, making a move could potentially alert the whole street," Chen Ke spread his hands.
"Of course not there... I’m talking about the outsourcing company that supplies them with equipment," Diana said.
"Is that place... far?" Chen Ke caught on.
"It’s within the city, a not-so-large company. P.W.A.T outsources to four companies that have licenses from the United Federation to manufacture and modify spiritual power weapons. And by a stroke of luck, the company that supplies them with hand grenades is right here in Opportunity City," Diana explained.
"Let’s go tonight then. We should be able to handle it in one evening; if all goes well, they won’t even know we were there," Chen Ke said.
In the afternoon, Lucina and Hall returned home, and the five of them gathered around the table to briefly relay their achievements.
"The vehicle is sorted. Hall, Priskin, and I will disguise ourselves as janitors and blend into the Administration Bureau. Then, based on Diana’s map, we’ll find that office," Lucina said.
"Is the vehicle outside? Did you also get the clothes?" Chen Ke asked.
"I bribed two janitors. The day after tomorrow, they will park the car where we agreed. We also have the clothes and worker IDs; nothing can go wrong," Lucina said.
"What if they don’t show up?" Chen Ke asked.
"They will come," Lucina said.
"Hmm... but what if they don’t? Do you have a backup plan? We still have to go ahead with the robbery," Diana asked.
Holding her chest, Lucina glared at Diana with a pout and cocked her head, saying, "When it comes to robbery, I have much more experience than you do."
Chen Ke pinched the bridge of his nose. If those two janitors didn’t show up the day after tomorrow, the entire robbery plan might have to be postponed. Besides, they could call the police or leak the information.
"We might need a backup plan," Chen Ke said.
"Are you doubting Lucina?" Priskin asked.
"No... I just want to make sure that all bases are covered. Tonight, I am going to get some hand grenades with Diana. You guys can rest," Chen Ke said.
The atmosphere at the table grew tense, and though Chen Ke didn’t know why it had turned this way, he didn’t dwell on it. What would tonight’s action bring? Would Lucina’s plan succeed? He wanted to seek out Teacher Zhou for a lesson to get a glimpse of the future.
