Chapter 510 Lady Reflection
Chapter 510: Chapter 510 Lady Reflection
Slavin looked at Chen Ke, not daring to move an inch—his life was now entirely in Chen Ke’s hands.
In this world, those with money don’t need to be afraid; if they want to harm you, they will weigh the costs and benefits. Those with power are also not to be feared; if they wish to harm you, they will assess the pros and cons.
The truly fearsome ones are those with power and no reservations. Among such people, those who do bad things are called villains; those who do good things are called heroes.
Which type was Chen Ke? Slavin didn’t know, nor did he care to guess. All he knew was that Chen Ke had now marked him as an enemy, and the only reason he was still alive was that his mind held information Chen Ke needed.
"That’s right, that’s what they say. There are three different theories about these green diamonds—some say there are six in total, some say five, and others seven. Nobody knows which is true. But everyone agrees that once gathered, they can help the owner achieve any goal," Slavin explained.
"And how do you use them once you’ve gathered them? Summon a dragon and make a wish?" Chen Ke asked.
"I don’t know, I’ve never used the things!" Slavin shook his head.
"Where did these theories come from? If someone is spreading them, then surely someone must have used them," Chen Ke said.
"Our corporation found out about them from Yasla. That bunch of oddballs seems to know quite a bit about these matters," Slavin replied.
"Yasla... what exactly are they about?" Chen Ke asked.
"You are our Holy Relics Hunter; you should know about them... I’m not wrong, you’re not actually Lin Mo now, are you?" Slavin said.
"That has nothing to do with you. If you keep asking strange questions, I’ll turn you to ash," Chen Ke warned, his right hand igniting with fire.
"Alright, alright... calm down... I’ve only been the chairman for a few months, so there’s much I’m unclear about. After Corrigan died, the corporation’s board began an open and covert power struggle. It wasn’t until the company stepped into the corporation’s internal disputes that White managed to take control. So, there are many secrets they haven’t shared with me," Slavin explained.
Chen Ke didn’t doubt Slavin’s words. A large business doesn’t grind to a halt simply because it loses a boss. In fact, the larger the enterprise, the less control a boss is likely to exert.
Often, when you see a company persistently making fatal, foolish errors, it may not reflect the desires of the boss but rather be the result of internal departmental resource struggles, breeding corrupt executives who engage in overzealous execution and distort business objectives for their gain, leading to such outcomes.
Corrigan had been killed by Chen Ke, who, as a person who transcended time, had intervened in the year 2009. So, when Chen Ke returned to April, the universe arranged an "early death by illness" for Corrigan.
"But... I’m not someone who sits idly by... I’ve come to learn a bit about the company and Yasla. But now that you’ve killed White today, if I’m still alive, they won’t let me off either. Keep me safe, and I’ll tell you what I’ve heard," Slavin added.
"It depends on whether what you’ve discovered is of any use to me," Chen Ke said.
"The information is definitely worth the ticket price; I’m not asking for much. Didn’t you say you could toss me somewhere where no one could find me?" Slavin said.
"Deal," Chen Ke replied.
That was a trivial matter; nobody could find the Illusion Dream Center.
"The weirdos in Yasla are unkillable, but Opportunity City’s population is finite. See, they have been here for a long time, and the city hasn’t seen any widespread disappearances or mutations. Moreover, they inexplicably know a lot about Spiritual Energy and Holy Relics–you get what I’m saying?" Slavin said.
"You could just come out and say it. I don’t like playing guessing games," Chen Ke replied.
"Alright, alright... First, I have to tell you a very shocking fact. You’d best hold your breath and keep calm so you don’t get too startled. I was quite shaken when I first learned of it myself," Slavin said.
"Out with it, what is it?" Chen Ke demanded.
"Humans can really time travel! And our era has quite a few people from the future! How about that! Surprised? Shocked? Do you feel the impact? Huh?" Slavin said excitedly.
Chen Ke remained motionless, completely silent, waiting for him to continue.
"You don’t seem excited," Slavin said, his expression freezing when he saw Chen Ke’s lack of reaction.
"So, what you’re saying is, Yasla comes from the future?" Chen Ke asked.
"I thought you’d be a little more shocked... Isn’t time travel romantic?" Slavin questioned.
"Not romantic at all, it’s actually quite dangerous. Right now, I just want to know about Yasla and the Green Diamond," Chen Ke shook his head.
"Alright... I’ll just tell it straight, Yasla might come from a very, very distant future. Their leader, known as Lady Reflection, is said to have been seen by Corrigan a few times, and the rest of the time, the consortium only had contact and cooperation through Yasla’s representatives," Slavin explained.
"Hmm..." Chen Ke pondered.
Now things were getting interesting. Yasla was actually from the future, although it couldn’t be confirmed yet. But if it was true... from which time period were they? Were they also from the year 2137?
"See, this information blows your mind, right? I didn’t lie to you," Slavin assured him.
"But you can’t guarantee that the person who told you this information didn’t deceive you, and what I’m more concerned about is the whereabouts of the Green Diamond. Now tell me about White, what’s his relationship with the company?" Chen Ke said.
"White’s power far exceeds that of the company, you’ve seen him fight," Slavin said.
"I don’t care. Is that all you know?" Chen Ke said.
"Looking at you, you don’t even realize the trouble you’re in. Look... White is lying right behind you... Lin Mo, you’re much more powerful than you were at the consortium, it seems you must have found a new boss," Slavin said.
"I’m not afraid of their retaliation. And since the organization behind White also wants that diamond... a clash with them is just a matter of time," Chen Ke stated indifferently.
"Fine... I don’t care why you want that diamond, but I’ve told you everything I know... The courier stole the diamond, White wanted us to steal it back, that’s all. I was just forced to act, otherwise, he would’ve killed me and found someone else to replace me," Slavin said.
"So...?" Chen Ke recalled the Holy Relics back to his body and straightened his suit tie.
"They’ll definitely blame me for White’s death, I can’t stay here... you need to save my life," Slavin said anxiously.
"Maybe I should just blow you away right now, that way you’d have no troubles at all," Chen Ke conjured a shotgun out of thin air, cocking it with a click.
"Are you really going to do this...?" Slavin was sweating profusely.
Chen Ke paused, thought for a few seconds, then suddenly felt that Slavin might still be of some use, so he put the gun away.
Seeing Chen Ke change his mind, Slavin also let out a sigh of relief.
"Go there, and don’t wander around," Chen Ke said.
"What? Where?" Slavin looked puzzled.
Chen Ke grabbed Slavin’s arm, leading him through the office door, into the Illusion Dream Center.
